ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Lovingly created for my friend @cannibalisticapple , author of the full-length epic Ignite to the Call, in honor of their 100th chapter(I left a custom-written blurb in italics down below). I have plans to record this story and I’ve been loyally following since Ch 26(weekly updates!!) I encourage anyone who is interested in chaos children, dramatic irony, runaway networks, mystery, intrigue, and dimension travel to go check it out! I may or may not *COUGHS* be part of the reason the deadline got extended, whoops.
My Achilles heel since college has always been color composition/values,,, which is exactly what this piece struggles with(and backgrounds but shhhh). I’ll fix that if I use this piece as a podfic cover, but for now it’s fine. I put probably too-much research into this piece, finding the location irl(Ueno Park) and what the area looks like(Google Maps’ street view), with some freebees taken because,,, backgrounds,,,,, and trolling through statue parks. There’s 2 versions bc the vignette hides the background but also negates the vast thoughtfulness I put into my atmospheric perspective coloring tyvm. I’ll reblog this with my process for this at a later date(as well as update this acc with the other 70+ podfics I’ve made, whoops).
This scene REALLY struck me, and I’ve had the piece planned out ever since I first read it. It hit me in the heart, even if Ch 87 overall isn’t my cup of tea. Fun fact: At the time I started typing this post I had the wrong sentence written. I had put “Remember a world where this statue is a samurai?” ...Which... Yeah I’m not sure how I got there but. Welp. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Ignite to the Call is an epic that follows 6 members of My Hero Academia’s Class 1-A after they wake up in an alternate reality—one where All Might is long dead, U.A. is long gone, heroes are scarce, and Tomura Shigaraki, head of the “Villain Alliance”, has a little brother named... Midoriya IZUKU??!! (Izuku would seriously like to know why HE always gets the short end of the stick when these things happen!! What did he do to deserve this!? How does he get INTO these situations??? What in All Might’s dear LEGACY did his Alternate Self DO??!!!?! Oh, and if he has to call Shigaraki “Tomu-nii” ONE MORE TIME he is going to go full KACCHAN on this world, no regrets. Hold up. Is... is that KACCHAN??! WHY?? Has Kacchan been kidnapped???? Shinsō too?? AND AIZAWA-SENSEI???!! Tomura, WHYYY?? ......Wait a minute... He... he can work with this.)
With the kids split up across Japan, Ochaco takes to the internet as Infinity_Girl, hoping that she’s not alone in this nightmare. Over in Kamino, Mina follows suit, adopting the online alias Alien_Queen_Pink. After a chance meeting with a very-panicked Izuku(HER Izuku), Ochaco runs away from home, hoping to help him escape. Ochaco’s sudden disappearance casts suspicion on Alien_Queen_Pink—a (supposedly) total stranger and Ochaco’s last known contact—and Mina goes on the run too, dragging a very confused, black-haired Kirishima along for the ride with her unbelievable tales of alternate dimensions and Hero Schools. Hiding in Odwara, the two join a runaway network made up of familiarly-unfamiliar faces. To her surprise, the network has ALREADY been harboring an alleged “dimension traveler”—Shōto, who had woken up in this strange new world with black hair and an unwelcome travelling companion: DABI. Naturally, Shōto ALSO ran away... after making a glacier and jumping into a river, of course.
Meanwhile, Kyoka finds grateful solidarity in schoolmate Denki, who started acting strangely the same time she did. Knowing they’re not alone, the two try to figure out who else is here with them, and where they might be. In the process of hiding from their suspicious classmate Yaoyorozu and enlisting the help of the eccentric Hatsume Mei, Kyoka and Denki decide to do what they do best: hero work. With active social media and 1-A plastered on their backs, “Punk Step” and “Taser Brain” take to the streets as the 1-A Vigilantes.

Without further ado, I present to you Chapter 87: Conspiracy Theorist's Fantasy:
For the past several hours in a private FacePage chat started for the groups searching for Porter, more and more photos had started to appear. Chalk and spray-painted messages in all kinds of colors on various surfaces, from brick walls in alleys to the cement underside of an overpass bridge, to even a wooden fence.
'USJ was more than a dream'
'Never forget waking up in Heights Alliance'
'The Sports Festival was a blast'
The messages were simple and quick to the point, but referenced small details and events that only a select few would know. Each message had the same tag under it: @1-A_No_Dream.
Even Ashido left a chalk mural on the ground around the statue in the park that in other worlds featured a man dubbed "The Last Samurai". 'Remember a world where there's a different statue here?' read the multi-colored writing in a circle around its base, accompanied by a roughly drawn samurai and sword.
