Vox's human timeline is my favourite mental sandbox. He canonically died in his 50's during the 1950s (theorised 1952 from merch hints), meaning he was born in the late 1890s/early 1900s. But his whole deal is television. TV was invented in the mid-1920s, but wasn't really a thing until the 1940s, after WWII.
When we first see human Vox, he already has a grey streak in his hair, meaning it's likely all of Brighter takes place in this golden age of TV, when he’s already an older man.
This is crazy, because we can assume that all of Brighter happens between 1945 and 1952. That's only 7 years. Maybe we can say that Vox dodged the draft (wouldn't put it past him), and that stretches to maybe early 1940s-1952, which is still only like 10-12 years, which is a very short amount of time considering how high he climbs and how much he visibly ages during that song.
Better yet, this means that there's about 40 years in which we have no idea what Vox was up to. He can't have been doing television, that wasn't invented yet. He had to have had some kind of job. We see in both Brighter and Stayed Gone that Vox likes to bounce around jobs, being somewhat of a jack of all trades. So realistically, you could headcanon him doing anything from that time period, and it’ll stay plausible.
Vox was a journalist. Vox was an elementary school teacher. Vox was a door-to-door salesman. Vox worked on the family farm. Vox was a scientist. Vox was a railway worker. Vox did a stint in retail. Vox was a photographer. Vox was a factory manager. Vox did every one of these jobs in a slapdash patchwork that somehow led to television in the 40s. He’s like a weird evil Barbie
