Hello. It's been a couple of weeks since the last update. After receiving a large donation, the Saturday of that same week, I received devastating news. My SNAP renewal was being denied. I do not met the new exemptions set by the current administration. It's laughably ironic that I'm in this dire debt situation BECAUSE of the times I've lost my SNAP benefits when I wasn't supposed to. And now, looks like this will be the case going forwards. Cause who knows when or if these current exemptions change?

I cannot tell you the dark thoughts I've had since I received the news. My son is exempt because he receives SSI. My mom isn't exempt, but has time to get exemption because she's still in the first year of being on our SNAP case. But I'm the head of the household, so if I'm not exempt the case gets closed. I've looked at options for myself, such as volunteering, but my physical and mental disabilities are significant barriers to daily living, let alone working/volunteering.
Mom is applying for volunteering positions. She also crochets, but obviously selling stuff is a logistical nightmare and one we can't even afford.
In general, this whole situation is a logistical nightmare. I can't afford food, so this will affect household items, paying for transportation, and what looks like potential co-pays for medical stuff. Like... this will collapse my life. Even the services that have subscription memberships for low-income customers, like my ISP, delivery service, and online marketplace will fold. This is monumental echo effect that I'm not sure I can handle.
Everyone in the house is going to take turns using our 3 quarterly Medicaid community rides for a particular foodbank that's too far to pay for a rideshare. But with the growing number of people losing their SNAP benefits and essentially being forced into modern socioeconomic slavery situations to keep their benefits, I imagine it'll only go so far, for so long. I'm not sure how the rest of the year will look with the world and country's current events, but I'm not sure if I wanna see it. Just trying to keep my eye on what I can do for my family now.
I'm in therapy still. I'm thinking about case management again, but I'm not sure if Medicaid will cover it, since it cut the in community counseling services I had years ago. Like some people won't need support for years or a lifetime... I'm looking to start up medication management and medical appointments again. But that means trying to cope with transphobia, fatphobia, racism, and classism. If anyone can help or share or share any resources, I'd appreciate it. I did knock out a chunk of my credit card that's growing interest. So thank you. But I still have a long way to go.

I just posted an update to my GoFundMe to talk about where we're currently at. With the money that got raised, it went directly to the card that was building interest immediately. I think everyone for donating and sharing. I'm also okay with you guys sharing it on other social media sites.
Feeling kind of desperate this year in a way that feels very distinct. All the therapy and medication in the world do not solve lacking resources. Because your life doesn't really improve if you cannot access resources to improve your material conditions. It definitely sometimes feel selfish because I can't reasonably earn money in a way that isn't detrimental to my health. I'm not even sure if I could earn money in the ways that I know that would be damaging for my mental health.
One thing I can hope for though is that I can get these credit cards paid off at least. So if something should happen to me, for whatever reason, my family isn't left with an extreme amount of debt. I hope everyone out there is taking care of themselves as best as they can and know that you have my die-hard appreciation and my tears when you do share and donate. Thank you for reading! 🫶🏾
