Oh hey, this seems like a fun way to get the blog started while I work on writing stuff and other original content!

❤️ Average amount of sleep: like, five hours? Sleeping is hard. 💛 Dream job: Something in a museum or adult education or cataloguing medieval manuscripts or something I guess. Technically writer, but..... 💙 Blog established: about two weeks ago. I’ve been lurking for years and years, both on tumblr and especially regarding whump stuff at large - I think my first brush with the term “whump” as opposed to hurt/comfort was back when Avengers came out - but setting up new mains is a hassle and I didn’t want to sideblog. ❤️ Reason for URL: "Laurel” is a name I’m maybe low-key trying out for myself right now, so I came up with this username a while back to do so subtly. Also, there’s some connection to one of my characters’ cheesy clip-on laurels I guess. 💛 Fave Whump Tropes: idk if there’s a proper name for it, but I’m a huge sucker for the whumpee making their own situation that much worse because they don’t think they’re “allowed” to be hurt and pretend nothing’s wrong until they can’t anymore. Bonus points if their friends contribute accidental emotional whump, though I’m not a fan of genuine malice. 💙 Projects you’re working on: Oof. Generally speaking, I have a Bad Things Happen Bingo card going on with a wild mixture of fic and original stuff planned. As for original projects, I have a story where a sad, fragile lil’ vampire dude has to solve magical crimes, one with a notoriously injury-prone, lonely, ridiculously kind airship captain pining after a Slightly Scuffed former battlemage (and a billion AUs for that one, lol), one about a spaceship captain who was brought back from the dead as a cyborg, and a number of other fun tidbits. I guess you can check out my ToyHouse account for details before I end up talking too much here. ❤️ Favorite color: ... blood-red. Also navy blue and a variety of browns and mossy greens and sunny orange-yellows. Colors are good. I like colors. 💛 Anything else you’d like to add: Nice to meet all of you, and a hearty thanks to the people running this thing! I’m really bad at connecting with people, so I’m grateful for the opportunity.

When somebody asks the stoic whumpee if they're okay and instead of physically saying no they just shake their head because they know if they do it'll come out sounding choked and give away the fact that they're close to crying. They feel a hand land gently on their shoulder, trying to pull them in and they almost accept the hug but then they can feel a tightness starting to form in the back of their throat, their eyes becoming blurry from forming tears and they pull away.

You can feel the anguish in this one. Well done.

Whump Prompt #80

Submitted by Anon - thanks! Whump Prompt: Character A and character B are kidnapped and kept separate. Their captor offers character B the opportunity to “buy” material comforts for character A by giving up things they need. Going without food for a day will buy character A something small to eat. Going without a blanket will ensure character A has one. Being beaten ensures character A isn’t harmed. Meanwhile, character A has no idea what’s going on, right up until the two are reunited. Character B is in in terrible shape.

Person A and Person B both witness something traumatic and disturbing play out before them, like another person being killed/tortured. Person A is visibly horrified while B takes it in stride and quickly tries to handle the problem in some way. Later on after things have calmed down, though, Person A seeks out Person B for comfort. As they start to bring up those past events, Person B suddenly sinks down and A realizes that B was more shaken than they let on. It could have possibly been one of their triggers, too. Person A helps to console a very pale and shaky Person B as they try to keep it together.

A and B haven’t seen each other in years upon years. They had separated suddenly—maybe they fought, maybe one was in some form of service and was deployed, maybe B left A for heroic/self sacrifice reasons, maybe they left under threat… you pick. A has given up on ever seeing B again. B has tried for years to insist to themselves they don’t care anymore.

B is driving a long, isolated road in a snowstorm when their car stalls. Cell reception is spotty and they can’t keep roadside assistance on the line long enough to get help sent. Their destination is still pretty far out, but they figure they can make it on foot and send someone back for their car. On the way there, they pass a car that has gone off the road. A is in the back seat in a blanket (insufficient now that their car heater is dead) having attempted to tend to their wounds themselves. Hurt, sick and barely conscious, they seem almost resigned to this fate. When B leans over A, tries to talk to them or at least assess the damage, A starts laughing weakly, assuming B is a hallucination—because really, what are the odds? A doesn’t answer B’s worried questions, just stares at (or even tries to reach out and touch) B’s grey hairs/the lines on their face/other marks of the time they’ve been apart. The last coherent thing A says is “I even dreamed you older.”

Whump Prompt #50

Character A is lost at sea due to unforeseen events, they just managed to climb into the raft, damaged ankle flaring with every kick it makes, when morning comes they are adrift and alone, no food, no water, no flares and no tools. It’s just them and the ocean. Within the first few hours they start to feel dehydrated, hot weather and seasickness not helping their predicament, as day three comes to light they start to wonder how long they have left, until a storm passes over and they catch the first few drops of rain, enough to supply them for another day, but how long can they last with no food, shelter and minimal water…  Character B finds them days later, adrift in the ocean when their rescue helicopter/ boat sees something yellow shining against the dark waters. Queue high fevers, delirium, dehydration and malnutrition!

Imagine person A of your OTP having to drive a long distance to get to an event, but along the way their car breaks down. Their cellphone is dead. They took an obscure route so no one passes them on the side of the road. They are now stranded in 38°C (or higher) weather with no water. Eventually they get desperate and start walking even though they’re in the middle of nowhere. This turns out to be a stupid idea because they get lost and end up passing out from exhaustion near a side road some time later. Totally by chance, person B finds them and takes them back to their house because there isn’t anywhere nearby for them to call for medical attention, and does their best to treat person A for heat exhaustion and dehydration. Bonus points if person B (or C, if there’s someone else at the house) recognizes them from the past but person A has no clue.

Person A lives independently somewhere in the secluded mountains. (Perhaps after going for a hunt) They’re walking back to their cabin through the nasty winter weather. However, on their trek home, they encounter Person B, who is a stranger to them, laying unconscious in the snow. After checking to see if they were still alive, Person A decides to carry them rest of the way to their log cabin to try and help them. Whatever happens after that is up to you.
