He rolled his eyes at the younger’s whining. “Be real, do either of us have time in the afternoon? Morning’s the only time I don’t have schedules. I dunno about you,” Duckie said with a laugh, letting arms fall down to his side after he finished his stretching.

“You can stay plenty warm as long as you stay in motion!” Duckie said, before suddenly thinking of something that he was pretty sure would motivate the other. “I’ll tell you what, we’ll race down to the convenience store and if you can manage to pass me, breakfast is on me.”

"i’d make time at the expense of not having to run when it’s cold,” joey muttered as he lazily stretched one leg. “or i’d just run around whatever room i’m in a couple of times - that’s definitely a viable workout, right?”

joey’s head moved to the direction of the convenience store and grumbled slightly. as much as he hated running in the morning, he hated passing up the opportunity of free food more. “fine. only because i’ll try and use my gangly legs for something and if that thing is a free breakfast then i’ll be fine...”

“you might not but your family and company might,” joey pointed out with a shrug before humming and nodding. “i mean, my small chinese grandmother’s pretty good at threatening people. maybe i’ll try not to scare you to death.” he flashed her a smile before shaking his head. “no! someone above five might find it scary! an easily intimidated person, sure, but that’s still someone!”

Being a drummer in a band proved to be different than say, a member in a dance group, when it came to appearances. Not that it still wasn’t strict, but it seemed like maybe perhaps sometimes they weren’t put under as much scrutiny as their counterparts. Netizens weren’t quite as likely to shred him apart for maybe putting on a pound because he was obscured most of the time behind his drumkit.

Despite this, Duckie enjoyed working out and actively engaged in it, even without being told to. Not really intense stuff most of the time, but more along the lines of running and other cardio. He was up early as per usual for a morning run, but this time he would drag Joey along with him for the outing. “I find morning runs to be a bit more preferable - you don’t have to worry about wearing reflectors for traffic.” Duckie said to the younger, working on his pre-run stretching.

joey supposed if there was one thing he disliked about the idol life was having to keep up with appearances. specifically working out. if you asked him, dancing and jumping around stage was enough. of course he’d always negate to mention his seemingly bottomless appetite but, for joey, that didn’t matter. he forced himself to work out and would always make sure that everyone in the immediate vicinity or those who came with him knew just how much he disliked it.

at first, joey thought a run wasn’t too bad. it seemed fun and wasn’t anything less strenuous than what he usually did at the gym. but a morning run? that was asking the heaviest sleeper in rewind a little too much. “we also don’t need to worry about that in the afternoon,” joey whined as he yawned, bringing a hand clad in an oversized hoodie to cover his mouth. “and it’s warmer...”

stepping out of the ending pose, zhiruo walked over to her phone to press the pause button, glancing over to the other person for a moment before standing to scroll through her music once more “come on! you’re not really tired, are you? we’ve practically just started, we still have a lot more to cover! you can’t be quitting on me already, right?”

sat on the floor with his legs spread as he leaned back, looking something like a teddy bear, joey groaned loudly. “i’m dying zhiruo! dying! i can’t feel my toes.” he looked around for his water battle, sighing when he saw it was some ways across the room from him. “i don’t remember what life was like not being exhausted. did such a time exist? you might need to put me out of my misery.”

“but... i’m not irish?” joey said, head tilting a little. “maybe i should try and see if i can dye my hair ginger... i might need to invest in some lucky charms too...”

“and? i’d call that spirit! character, y’know? like, everyone knows you at your goofiest so it can only go up,” he said with a hum, “like, make that into a charade and all that.”
