“you know, at first i thought this whole cute metal idea was stupid, but it’s surprisingly really cool,” mahalia commented, giving the tiny girl an encouraging smile. god, some of these idols were toddlers. this kid was barely out of diapers. “you’re surprisingly apt at metal.” @rvrikki
“i need to talk to someone who understands before i lose my mind and scream into the void,” mahalia grumbled, scrubbing at her eyes with the heels of her hands. “why the fuck do they make us pretend to play instruments on music shows? they’re music shows? as in for playing music? just like... mute my input and let me play, you know? there’s way more of a chance i mess up if i’m pretending, instead of if i’m actually playing! jesus christ!” @rvjakey
“it’s been long enough. you need to loosen up,” xifeng said matter of factly, hands on her hips. “how many variety shows have you been on with us at this point? and you can never do any of the choreography? do you know how much less awkward you would feel if you could play along? let me just teach you some, okay?” @rvlia
“too many. every new one i get brought onto gives me more war flashback material,” lia retorted through gritted teeth. “i’m not a dancer, xifeng-- i don’t know how to dance. i can barely walk in a straight line without feeling like i’m going to dislocate a hip; i’m an old hag at this point. i’m going to look stupid trying to dance.”

“Yeah, I get it,” Sebin said, pausing in thought. “Our seventh performer’s still out so her bunk’s been empty… but I’m not sure when she’s coming back. The couch might be okay, though.”
“i don’t mind taking her bunk if she doesn’t mind. it would only be for a couple of days,” lia insisted, weight off her shoulders now that her living arrangements were less uncertain for the moment. “i definitely don’t mind taking the couch either. i’ve slept on tour bus floors-- a couch is more than okay.”
though her career now was largely tied to burnout, she still had some work she did as a musician on the side. and when jeni had asked her to play her entrance music live for a big event, lia wasn’t going to say no. it would cross over two fandoms, so mpwa and liberty were both onboard. and as fun as many of burnout’s songs were, jeni’s entrance music was death metal-- lia missed going nuts.
it was just practice now. from what she understood, the wrestlers were doing a rough run of their matches. she’d get to practice next, and work on timing with jeni, so with the ring in her peripheral so she could enjoy the show while she worked, she began to set up her amps and guitar. @rvcaptain
“hey, do you guys happen to have like... an extra bunk at the dorms? or a couch i could sleep on?” lia asked with a little wince. “i’m kind of between living accommodations right now... i have some other people i could ask, but i thought i’d ask my group first, you know?” @rvseb

“Some of you need to get really good at singing and playing, then. Just in case,” he joked.
“god, could you imagine?” lia aksed with a laugh. “like even beyond your throwback example..... could you imagine if burnout just fully pulled a harmony and i had to figure out how to be an idol? like we’re doing...fucking gee 2.0 or something, and there at the back of the formation is mahalia, probably forced to have had normal hair, arms wrapped up like a mummy to hide tats.....”

“hey, i’m an open book; you ask, i answer,” he snorted. “here i thought you were interested in my life.”
“not nearly as interested as your groupies and stans are, clearly, but who hasn’t been guilty of oversharing?” she admitted with a long-suffering eyeroll

“yeah, but i promise you, everyone looks like an ass at some point. even the mcs,” jaemi told her. “they’ll edit it out. or they’ll edit it to make it funny. and that last part is sick if you don’t take yourself too seriously because it organically creates really great moments.”
“sounds absolutely terrifying, but i’ll try to keep that in mind,” lia retorted with a sigh. “thank you. that was helpful. for real.”

“still! i like my job– i don’t want to even think about fucking up that badly.”
“do you actually? maybe it’s just the media or whatever, but i totally thought that all interns get treated like shit.”

“i think so too! well..that, and the fact that we were part of a very high profile pre-debut group back there that never came to fruition…. i dunno. i’m just glad things are working out.”
“well, that’s probably why the chemistry is so high though. you’ve been working together a while,” lia said. “you can rest easy knowing you basically have it made now.”

“i guess maybe i see it differently because i grew up in it…” misaki admitted with a little shrug. “i just don’t think it’s a big deal, if the kids are being taken care of. we expect them to go to school 9 hours a day. why is this so much worse?”
“because school is school, and this is being on camera in front of millions of people on top of school? it fucks with a kids brain,” lia insisted.

“i mean… the bathrooms don’t have cameras, at the very least. i can make do,” he scoffed, rolling his eyes and suppressing laughter.
“really cool of you to fill me in on that, hyunjoo. i was really wondering whether or not you had the opportunity to get a shower wank off. proud of you.”

“i think…..everyone looks stupid on those shows, so like…accepting that is the first step,” jaemi began, rubbing his chin. “you really need to like…forget the cameras are there and have a good time with the hosts and your group. like fuck what you look like, or being to image conscious– do stuff that makes you smile, and build a rapport with everyone else. it comes off a lot more natural.”
“i guess i need to learn to take myself less seriously,” lia laughed, rolling her eyes. “those tips are all well and good, but i always freeze up and wonder if i look like an ass or not. without fail.”

“god, lia, don’t even joke about that,” she whined, covering her face with her hands. “i wouldn’t just get fired. i feel like i’d get fucking arrested.”
“i doubt you’d get arrested. fired for sure, but they could just cancel that card and get a new one,” lia assured her with a laugh.

“yeah, for a few reasons. you might want to keep those to yourselves. now, ta da! you have media training!”
“wow, that easy, huh? why didn’t i get any of this shit sooner?” she snorted, rolling her eyes.
