“the tour was exhausting. it’s great to finally be home,” risae sighed quietly, collapsing into a chair in daeil’s office. “did you have a good time, at least? travelling and everything?”

“I don’t think I can complain, you definitely did more than I did,” Daeil chuckled softly, looking over at Risae fondly. “But I’m glad to be back, I think I missed actually working. But I loved getting to see all the tour stops with you, that’s for sure.”

She looked up from they lyrics she’d been writing curiously, studying his face as he spoke. She’d been getting a lot better at writing lyrics since the show started, and that was in no small part thanks to Daiel. He was such a good teacher. She was so happy to have picked his team– she’d initially done it for selfish reasons, but she was learning so much. Risae smiled, putting her pen down and standing up so she could lean over the back of his chair, wrapping her arms around him from behind. “You’re so sweet. You don’t know how much that means to me,” she admitted softly, kissing his cheek. “I never for a second have regretted working with the pair of you. Sinhye is young, but she’s got so much to bring to the table and is so creative and talented. And you know already how talented I think you are. You’re the best producers I could possibly have picked.”

Daeil smiled when he felt her arms wrap him from behind, reaching up to cover her hands with his. “I’m just honest,” he replied after she kissed his cheek, unable to keep himself from turning his head and planting a kiss on her lips for half a moment. “You’re really talented, Ri,” he said softly once he had pulled away, keeping his hands over hers. “It’s nice getting to see other people really learn that, besides seeing you onstage with Reign.” There had always been a clear difference between Risae onstage and off, but it seemed like she was showing a new side of herself even more on the show, and Daeil couldn’t keep the grin off his face whenever she showed that on Unpretty. “I’m glad you don’t,” he laughed softly. “DS is lucky to have Sinhye, she’s probably one of the most talented people they have, and she’s still half the age of most of the people that work there.” Daeil paused, glancing back over at her. “I’m happy you’re on our team. It definitely makes the whole thing worth it.”

“I meant it,” Daeil started, speaking softly as he broke the comfortable silence that had briefly fallen over them while working on music for Unpretty in the new office for LMG. “In the show, when they asked me about how you did in the last episode. You’ve been doing really well on Unpretty. But I’m probably the last person who’d be surprised by that,” he added, laughing slightly at himself. It would be hard to deny that Risae being on his and Sinhye’s team on the show definitely made Daeil a little too aware of how many cameras were pointed at them, but that still couldn’t come close to how often he was reminded of how he liked even just getting to work with her (but thankfully now he never had to come up with an excuse to spend time with her in the first place). “You’re not regretting joining our team yet, are you?” he asked jokingly. “I know it might be a little late in the season for that, though.”

A love song? A break-up song? A party song? An epic anthem? I’m having trouble deciding what to write as my first official song under LMG.”

“Is songwriting really that hard?” Daeil asked teasingly as he looked up at his friend. He tilted his head, thinking about what the last few Korean songs that Enzo had released were about to try to think where he should go with another. “I can show you new stuff that could work, if it helps. I don’t think anyone is really expecting any song that fits perfectly into any of those categories, you’re good with whatever you end up writing about,” Daeil laughed, “just don’t make us look bad already.”
