“i think i’m ready to start working on solo work,” sookie admitted, scrubbing her face in her hands. she’d had a solo debut in rejectz’s early days, but nothing for about three years since. “i’ve put so much of my focus into my group, and i think i’ve gotten us to a really good place. is it selfish of me to want to start working on something for myself now?”

“Dude, I wish I saw the all-kill actually happen! I had to read about it happening third-hand from my little sister who doesn’t even listen to us. And when I went to go look myself the spot was taken,” Duckie said.  “I almost feel like she’s just pulling my leg or something, it’s so unreal.”

“congrats-- this is your first ever all kill, right?” sookie asked with a smile. “huge moment, however brief. i hope this is just the beginning for y’all.”

her heart fell– she knew that look. this person didn’t know her, but they saw all the headlines. they’d never seen her as an idol, but they saw dispatch labelling her a traitor. all the thai fans calling her a deserter for leaving her group behind for byulbit. “hey, wait, can i explain?” she asked softly. “it’s really not what you think.”

“i really don’t care,” sangsuk admitted with a tiny eyeroll. “not everyone is going to want to be your best friend. i don’t know you. don’t take it personally.”

“if you’re too busy, it’s okay… i won’t be upset,” goeun insisted softly, hugging her script to her chest. “i just need to have this script memorized for my eval tomorrow and thought it would be easier if someone ran lines with me but… i can ask my sister. maybe she’s free…”

[rvsookie]

“i mean, i don’t know how good i’ll be but i can try to help,” sangsuk grumbled, pushing her bangs back out of her face. “most of the acting i do is in music videos, so it’s exclusively sullen or sexy.”

“i think we’ve had a long enough break-- i had something i want to show you,” sookie announced, walking into doah’s room. “i was thinking a summer comeback. like a cliche one, but done well, and done our way. here’s what i have so far.” @rvdoah​

rvdohee​:

“you say that as if you aren’t a genius producer. you could listen to five summer songs, understand the structure immediately, and then be on your way to deconstructing the whole genre and making it your own,” she retorted with an eyeroll.

“understanding the genre is easy. its reconstructing it that’ll take a minute or two,” sangsuk answered with a tiny smile

“and  you deserve to! i myself am very happy to have a break. jaekyung and i haven’t been able to hang out in forever– i might be an idol, but i deserve a social life.”

“oh? is that what you’re visiting them for? just a little social visit?” sangsuk retorted, raising her eyebrow. “rumor has it, you guys do a lot more than have a little chat, but maybe my inside source is wrong....” she teased

“spring? i think summer,” bia replied, shaking her head. “we deserve a long, long nap. we deserve to hibernate and let everyone get complacent, only for us to stroll in during the second half of the year to end them.”

“trust me-- i have a ton of ideas. they’re almost complete. i just don’t want to worry about that for now-- i’m so tired and i just want to veg out for a while.”

“please can we have a summer release? like, a real cliche girl group summer song, but done our way, and done right? i have so many outfit ideas, and they’re wasting away!” dohee whined

“well, that implies that our next comeback will be in the summer, so i’m onboard,” sangsuk retorted. “gives me enough time to figure out how to do a summer song too, so bonus.”

srvnyi​:

“okay, that’s cheating at taking a break,” sunyi protested, “there’s barely any days left in this year, of course our next comeback isn’t until 2021.” she didn’t care that somehow they weren’t squeezing one last comeback again into the year, but sunyi knew sookie and that she was probably telling herself that this finally counted as relaxing for once when it came for writing and leading their group. she sighed at sookie’s last comment, “if you can nap for three months straight i might actually think you’re superhuman.”

“no-- actual 2021. not beta trial run 2021. we’re not coming back until second half of the year-- i’m serious,” sangsuk retorted. “i bet i totally could. i’d be making up for lost time. i probably need it. i’ve been saving up-- like office workers save up vacation days.”

“i… with you at the helm, i’m sure xinyi would have gotten a fair chance,” jinjoo insisted bashfully.

“well, i’m only at the helm because of the precedent legacy set. rejectz has benefited from a lot of circumstances we’ve found ourselves in.”

“you know, seeing more and more altos in kpop has been really refreshing the past few years,” jinjoo admitted. “in my first groups, they always made me rap because my voice was deeper, even though i’m not a great rapper. and even when we cover old reign songs, i usually do yein’s old parts, because they’re more rap-centric. i dunno– i guess it just means a lot that more and more companies are letting good altos sing, and not relegating them to less important roles just because their voices are a little deeper.”

“xinyi’s only allowed to do what she does because fo you. i know people try to discount what the new reign members bring, but you’ve changed the industry,” sangsuk said seriously

[rvjenny]

“i know my comeback probably would’ve done better if i’d done the traditional music show circuit, but i honestly don’t know that i can bring myself to care,” jenny mused. she was proud of her album, and the two singles she’d released, but while well received, both she and siren were aware it had under-performed win-wise. “i think i’m just too old to keep up with all of it any more. like, i love my music, but brave new world promotions provided more than enough rushing between programs for this quarter. i have no idea how people manage such crazy schedules.”

“you seem like someone who has hobbies and a social life and other things that are important to you-- can’t have none of that with a promotion schedule,” sangsuk pointed out. “we handle it because we have literally nothing else going on.”

“alright, no new releases until 2021. spring at the very least,” sangsuk sighed, throwing her phone aside, finished looking at comments on i’m the trend. “i need a fucking nap for three months.” // @rvvia​ @rvdohee​ @rvdoah​ @srvnyi​ @rvevie​

“i’m going to decapitate you for that. that was the worst thing anyones ever said to me,” shinhye answered back, just as deadpan

“even worse than calling jewel kidzbop reign?” sangsuk snickered

“you’re right. mickey mouse stand behind me in the recording booth with a gun to my head, and if i say anything suggestive, he shoots a warning shot into the ceiling,” shinhye snorted

“hey, just take my advice-- he keeps talking, but you just gotta keep walking,” sangsuk answered seriously.

“what else is new? have you seen chocolate cream?” kyungmi pointed out, blushing bright red. “it’s okay. i have tape. that’s what we used to use for stages back in the day. i can manage.”

“kyungmi, i’m a lesbian. of course i’ve seen it,” sangsuk said with an eyeroll. “i just thought delight wasn’t doing stuff like this anymore. if you go out there and dance to bim bam bum with your tiddies out like that, you know dispatch is going to come after you for trying to sexualize something that’s supposed to be cute and innocent.”
