Well, friends, I am still not dead. I, however, have completely lost all time that I thought I could dedicate to this blog. That’s not fair to you, and I understand that I have a track record for disappearing. Because of this, I am not going to shut down this blog (or Dewey). Rather, I’ll see if I can pop in once in a while. 

The good thing about all of this is that I am doing well. With school, work, and two very dedicated partners, I’ve got my life pretty much scheduled by the hour. I’m also trying to work on more original works. But I’m happy. 

So I hope that I can write with y’all again very soon.

Jack was careful with his words, knowing very well what the scientist could do with the serum; it would do damage to whoever and whatever it touched.

“Okay seems… highlyoptimistic,”                           Herbert scanned the room carefully, cataloging possible                            exitsand weapons. Drastic times, of course, called for                           drastic measures. “We need to decide now. I am capable ofdefending myself.”

Yes. I am aware that I haven’t been back. I am definitely working on it. I just need to get to Thanksgiving. Hopefully this weekend I’ll have some time to just get my life back together.

Which wasstill inches below the older man. His hands balled into fists to keep fromstriking the man. Very rarely did such indignation strike Herbert West, butthis man certainly wasn’t helping. “Whatdo you think you are, dressed like that? Some sort of movie star?” Herbertnarrowed his eyes. “If you value yourlife, I’d suggest you get off my property and keep your mouth shut.” Thefire dimmed slightly. Dan had to be returning home soon. He’d help clean thisungodly mess up.

Wasting no time on pleasantries, Lucy placed  her bag upon the desk. The weight of the books  inside had left her shoulder aching. She flexed  the sore limb, glancing over at the American. He  was analyzing her, she realized.

    “Irreconcilable differences with my employer.”

She placed four ancient looking leather bound  volumes on the desk: Principalia Necromantia,  Solomon’s Occulus Vilum, the Necronomicon,  and another lesser known text- no title upon a  cover made of curious leather that felt almost  like it were living when touched with bare hands.

      “Science and Medicine have failed me, Herr Doktor.          It is my hope that provided the information here, you          might succeed where they have not.”

                          West stepped towards the desk, enraptured by the old books.                           These were beyond any text he had ever seen. His breath                           was stolen from hislungs. He wanted more than anything                           to touch them, open them, take theirknowledge…                           He blinked, straightening politely. “I’m very sorry to hear that…”                           he picked up the fleshed book. Hisfingertips brushed the                           strange binding curiously. The secrets he had been vyingfor                           were locked away in these tomes. Gently, he returned the                            book to the table. “I’m not sure you understand the natureof my work, Miss West. I do not wish to cure sickness. I cure something elseentirely.                                                     Speak your price.”

“Maybe I’m just crazy.”

“You know I’ve never thought you mad.  It is sane, and natural, for a living man tohave a desperate desire to preserve life at all costs.  But many times, the dead feel differently.  As a man of science, even if you disregardtheir rights, can’t you see that it doesn’t matter how good your methods are if most of your subjects hate living?  Beforeyou decry my attitude as too sentimental, recall that almost every livingcreature has a strong self-preservation instinct.  That’s a fundamental part of life you haven’tbeen able to restore.”

                          West lifted his head, leveling a glare at the taller man.               “If that was your attempt at being comforting, you failed               rather brilliantly. It’s right in front of me – it has to be. I’ve               worked far too hard to just give this up…”                           He ran his hands over his face, pushing up his glasses.                           A deep shuddering sigh left his lips. West adjusted his                           glasses properly over his nose.               “Then why shouldn’t I keep searching for that?                                           Reanimation is traumatic, I understand that,               but if we could maintain…”

Okay, I’m going to be honest. This last month was incredibly difficult. Finding muse has been a little rough, but I should be around a little more now. Hopefuly. Don’t hold me to that.

“As long as you keep your end of the bargain, I’ll leave you alone.” He reached out towards the hand that held the bottle.

                          West withdrew the bottle. “This cannot fall into the wrong hands. Only you can use it. T hatincludes your wife. She doesn’t need to know about this bargain. Agreed?”
