As the two sat in the rain, the slightly older boy couldn’t help but narrow his eyes at her at first. Yet… his tense form softened, easing the tiniest bit while she tried wiping his tears away. Stupid, he wanted to think. She was stupid. Trying to wipe his tears away in the rain…
… She shouldn’t be out in the rain.
Without a word, Souther used what strength he had to pick up his beloved master, looking to Lin. She was small.
“ Well… s-stop. ” He grumbled out, “ … it’s cold. You shouldn’t be out in the rain. ” Ogai was cold, he silently noted. He despised it. So, Souther did what he could to carry his master, leading Lin and motioning for her to follow him into the Nanto temple. “ … s-so, stop being stupid and trying to wipe my tears away in the rain. ” An added comment, obviously trying to come off as tough and mean to drive her off.
He managed to force the door open, looking in the empty, silent main hall, feeling his heart drop to his stomach. The guilt kept constantly reminding him– it’d be lonesome now. He was on his own.
… And yet, he steeled his gaze, forcing himself to wipe his tears with a part of his arm. He needed… to preserver Master Ogai’s body quickly.“ … so… who are you? Why are you here? ”
Oooh, that wasn’t exactly the sentence she was expecting. Knowing, or rather, seeing what Souther had done in her lifetime, probably would’ve cast her to the side. To his elder self, he was much more brutish than he was here...perhaps because he was younger. Not to mention the body of the man he held, lifeless and without a care in the world. If Lin didn’t know any better, she would say that this was more of an explanation than...oh god, Mr. Shuu...!
She feels herself begin to hiccup, wiping away her own tears on her wet face. God, she was so stupid, offering a cloth to dry oneself in the pouring rain...
It was a no brainer to say she followed him, ringing out her raggedy old clothes once inside. She couldn’t help but think about those eyes he had, so full of emotion...this can’t be the Holy Emperor; it can’t be. The man she knew was cold and ruthless to any child--even his own kids, for that matter. Especially in her time, where his own children lead to his own insanity to spike.
With a wrung out cloth, she once again shows it to Souther, extending it as if he was a wild animal; After all, what else was she to think?
“I-I’m--!” Her raspy voice was cut off by a sharp cough. Oh darn, she really shouldn’t have been in the rain, with her body shivering and whatnot now.
“...I’m Lin. I...saw you, and wanted to check on you.”
A half truth; in all honesty, to be in such a foreign place...not even knowing how she got here to be honest, it was scary. But, she was a brave girl, better yet a Woman! She could do this!
Lin bows her head in a slight greeting, letting her own sodden hair drip on the temple floors. It was...so cold in here...did Souther really live like this? In the cold? Little brown eyes turn to Master Ogai’s body.
“You...You were cr-crying...”
