I really enjoyed this picture because it reminds me of a simpler, social media free world. While I do love my social media accounts it is definitely a different type of lifestyle nowadays. I thought this picture did a great job at representing the different versions of social media out there. We have basically turned everything into some sort of social media account.

The videos, once again, thrust Facebook into the middle of a fast-moving and tragic news story and highlighted both the compelling and challenging characteristics of its Facebook Live service.

This article goes into the new emerging problems that social media accounts. As these social media accounts become more advanced it is becoming increasingly hard for the owners of these companies to stay on top of security. The prime example came the other day at the atrocities that happened to Philando Castile where his girlfriend Facebook live’d the shooting and him dying. This caused Facebook to take down the video for an hour but then claimed it was a technical issue. With constant Facebook live videos going up at a time it is going to be very hard for Facebook to make sure that what people are putting up is appropriate for the social media universe. It will be interesting to see how they handle this.

I really enjoyed this article because it goes in depth about how Human resources needs to adapt to the changing times and how they can use social media to their advantage. This article includes using social media to attract the best possible employees. Currently people use social media as a way to do research about almost everything including prospective jobs. Social media also gives an opportunity for current employees to give positive feedback on your company which is more valuable than you can imagine. I must say that reading this article I was quite shocked at some of the facts about twitter that it had. When I think about getting a job I think of LinkedIn, monster, and other job searching sites. And as far as social media sites go, I could possibly see Facebook being an option but never twitter. However, according to this article twitter has the most job opening postings than any other social media site. The statistic that jumped out to me most was the fact that there are more job seekers on twitter than on LinkedIn. I could not believe this to be true and what the article focuses on is that only 15 percent of companies have actually hired someone through twitter, so clearly something must be wrong. This article focuses on how people can use twitter to search for jobs and more importantly, how these companies can get more involved on twitter since there is a larger group of job seekers.

I really enjoyed this article because it pinpoints how the human resources world is finally adapting to the times and trying to take into account the millennial’s that will be the majority of the workforce in a few years. With more and more technology we see human resources getting rid of things such as performance reviews and instead focusing on more efficient “OKR’s” or objective and key results along with using technology to use and study analytics. The overall perception of Human Resources is that it’s just one big suggestion/complaint box and basically only handles the day to day hassles that go on in a given company. Human resources seems to almost get a bad rap because the thought of getting called into human resources is basically the adult equivalent of getting called into guidance or the principals office. The thought of it is scary and naturally this causes a negative association with the thought of human resources. However, human resources can be seen as the backbone of the company and the single thing that determines the success of a company. Human resources bring in potential talent that can catapult a company or burn it to the ground. Speaking of, they are also the main force in putting out any internal “fires” that go on between employees and basically can make or break the company. I really think this article makes a good point in that you should not be necessarily scared of what you post but instead just to be careful and spin your accounts in a way that will improve your chances of getting a job. By simply being yourself and acting professional you can project an image that is desirable to companies looking to hire you. You can also take advantage of your social media accounts by showing your creativity and interests and possibly even interacting with your potential employer. By doing these small things you can make your social media accounts one of your weapons instead of your kryptonite.

I really found this chart quite fascinating as it breaks down how hard the Human Resources job can be. To be an effective human resources representative you and the company must have a vision, skills, incentives, resources, and an action plan. What I really like about this chart is how it shows the consequences of not having just one piece of the puzzle to this problem. In order to make an effective change in your company there are interacting pieces that must be there or else failure is sure to come. It really shows how complicated an HR job can truly be.

I really like this bubble chart because it pretty much goes along with the generation like assignment I did because I focused on how human resource departments should embrace the social media world and realize that they can use it to their advantage when it comes to hiring and marketing themselves the right way. Unlike the first article I posted this article highlights the positives of the social media for the Human Resources department. The main points of the article include how social media gives companies much more access to potential employees hence making recruiting and branding easier. Once an employee is hired, social media also gives easier access to communicate with their employees but also monitor them. Its a quick but interesting read so check this out :)

I really found this hilarious because I feel like right now companies are at a weird place adapting to the times and the usage of social media. Lots of companies are trying to adapt and have their own social media accounts yet at the same time seem to be very worried about their employees using these same social media accounts. The times are changing and companies are really trying to catch up.
