For all I like to pretend the cat in my avatars is actually me, it actually belongs to a friend of mine – and he's in a nasty spot of financial trouble right now. He lost his job some time back and while he has a new one now, he hasn't been able to start it yet due to paperwork troubles - and in the gap between fell far enough behind on his mortgage and car payments that he won't make it without support. The house is not only home to him and three cats, but - as he's talking around in the gofundme (since the area of the US he lives in runs deeply conservative and he's had to share it in stuff connected to his realspace identity too) - also has served as a temporary place for queer friends of his to stay after having been kicked out or needing to run away from home three separate times by now and he would like to keep being able to offer that safe haven. If you can donate or share, I'd much appreciate it!

You should be able to have zero dollars to your name and still have everything you need to survive, dependable housing, food, water, clothing, personal care necessities like soap and deodorant and toilet paper and period products, medicine and the prescriptions/healthcare you need to live comfortably… not everyone’s life should be focused on the accumulation of wealth, and yet society is structured around earning money being the only way to survive or do anything at all. Some humans are really good at earning money because it gives them purpose but that shouldn’t be how everyone has to live

several times I’ve had equestrians warn me never to wear steel toed boots around horses because if they step on my foot it will crush the steel and cut my toes off. skeptical. how much could one fourth to one half of a horse possibly weigh. surely steel-toed boots are designed to withstand that amount.

ASTM 2413-05 requires an impact resistance rating of 75 and a compression resistance rating of 75.

Safety shoes adhere to compression measurements of either 50, which equals 1,750 pounds, or 75, which equals 2,500 pounds. A 50 rating protects the toe from compressive weights of up to 1,750 pounds; a 75 rating provides protection from compressive weights of up to 2,500 pounds.

So, like, if the horse is more than two (2) tons or stomping really hard, you might be at risk. From a quick Google, the heaviest horse on record was the Shire Horse Sampson, also known as Mammoth, with a recorded weight of 3,359 lbs (~1527 kilos). So, there’s that.

Every situation in which major trauma can occur /through/ a safety rated toe cap would be far, far worse without the aforementioned toe cap. You can sew toes back on, you can’t really regrow them if they’re pulverized.

I can’t sleep and my brain is lying to me about reality so I’m gonna write out some truths that I know:

We are only human together.

State of being is a distracting misrepresentation, rather we are a process of becoming.

The universe doesn’t care about us, that’s our job.

Meaning is made not given, and it is made most effectively through community with other humans.

Collective need is collective purpose.
