UPenn Students Study in Cannes
Formerly the head of Creative Artists Agency LLC’s Television Literary Department in Los Angeles, Ryan Ly now functions as the principal of Curate Entertainment. In anticipation of his successful entertainment career, Ryan Ly studied for his BA in English and film studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Students of cinema at UPenn may choose to study abroad in France for a semester. With a variety of locations available for summer studies, experiencing the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival in person is usually a top choice for cinema students. In addition to the exposure to international films and filmmakers, students get to witness how festivals, marketing, and celebrity culture contribute to the cinema industry. After preparing for the experience by attending introductory lectures before departure, students spend every day of the two-week summer study program immersed in the Cannes Film Festival. They have a chance to attend screenings and lectures by leading professionals in the cinema industry. Each year, program admission applications are accepted from January 15 to March 1.
