Seasonal Aesthetics
Winter: Cozy sweaters and a hot drink, the warmth of the mug warming your hands. Hoodies and fuzzy socks. Sitting by a window curled up with a good book, raindrops tapping on your window. Sitting at your desk, looking up from your notes only to see a blanket of snow. The sound of crackling fire. A sense of serenity.
Autumnn: The smell of an old book and the curving strokes of calligraphy. Orange everywhere and the crunch of leaves as rainboots step on them. Pumpkin spice lattes and candles and cakes make the best study snacks. Study dates with friends at an old library. The distant sound of rainā¦
Spring: Growth, beauty. Shyness blossoming into confidence, like a flower blooms. Studying at the park or sitting outside in a local cafe, surrounded by plants and watching the swingset slowly be moved by the soft wind. Flowers and petals between bullet journal pages.
Summer: A sigh of relief. Crawling into a bed with freshly washed sheets. Relaxation, holiday. The warmth of the sun on your skin, like a hug from home. A new bullet journal spread. Reading for pleasure. Laughter, happiness. The calming yet thrilling sound of the sea.
18 Ways to Have a Better 2018 (Study Edition)
Note: these are just things that I have found help! These may not help or work for everyone, since everyone is different and has a different studying style!
1. Let yourself waste time sometimes. Itās great to be productive, but you donāt have to be productive all the time. You can give yourself time to relax and unwind too. Revising on the train is great but sometimes you should let yourself play a game. Laminating your notes and sticking them on your shower door is brilliant but sometimes you should just let yourself jam! Studying doesnāt have to be all you do.
2. Thank your teachers, professors, lecturers or anyone else after a class! They put a lot of effort into helping you attain an education, and a small thank you might just help make their day!
3. Take care of your physical health. Join a sport, go on walks, or do some simple stretches! Whatever you can physically do, try and do something!Ā
4. Take care of your mental health. Try out things which can help you relax, like meditation, drawing, singing, whatever it may be!
5. Plan, but leave space for spontaneity. Itās great to have a study schedule, but sometimes things donāt go to plan. Maybe something will come up or something will take longer than expected. Always leave some cushion room for something coming up!
6. Have realistic goals. Thatās not to say donāt aim high - you should most definitely aim high if you want. But be realistic in yourself. Everyone is human. No one can work 25 hours a day!Ā
7. Remember that your education exists out of academia! Learn how to drive, sign up for a cooking class, join a sport, take up a new hobby. All these things will also teach you skills, donāt discount them.
8. Stay positive. Sometimes youāll hate a class or fail a test and thats ok. Itās all part of the learning process. Donāt let it get you down.Ā
9. Try something you havenāt tried before. If you love science, maybe try a humanities class! Youāll never know it might surprise you and you might love it. If not, at least you have a wider perspective.Ā
10. Form a study group with friends. This doesnāt work for everyone, but, often if you study with the right friends, it can be a really rewarding experience.Ā
11. Study in more than one place. Studying in different environments can make it seem a whole lot less tedious.Ā
12. Donāt only talk about studying. Being a student may be a major part of your life, but thatās not all you are. If all you talk about is studying, it can be easy to forget all the other lovely things you are!Ā
13. Donāt isolate yourself. Especially around exam season, it can be easy to stay at your desk, in your room for 10 hours a day. Remember to make time to communicate with your friends and family!Ā
14. Sometimes the stress of school/college/university can be really harmful. If youāre ever feeling low, talk to a counsellor or mental health professional. Taking care of yourself is really important and thereās no shame in asking for help!Ā
15. Do what works for you not someone else. If making beautiful study notes helps you, donāt let anyone tell you itās not worthwhile. If youāre not really into aesthetic study notes, donāt let anyone tell you thats bad! Everyone has different ways of studying and thats totally fine!Ā
16. Try some new ways of studying. IF youāre more of a textbook person, try listening to a podcast. If youāre more of a podcast, try out mind-maps. There might be new and exciting ways of studying which work for you!Ā
17. Get enough sleep. It really depends on each individual person as to how much you need, but make sure you get enough! If you have trouble sleeping try Ā speaking to a doctor!Ā
18. Remember that failing is a stepping stone to success. Itās always ok to fail at something! The important thing is that you try again.Ā
Best,Ā

tips for timed essays?
Sure! Hereās a few tips for timed essays (both substantive and procedural) tips;
1. SEX MethodĀ
Keep a strict structure for your body paragraphs.Ā
Will help you avoidĀ āramblingā and going off topic bcĀ
Its basically 4 basic sentences from which you can expand and elaborate on.Ā
Ensures that your body paragraphs reinforce your thesisĀ
Ensures that your arguments are relevantĀ
METHOD
State: Topic Sentence. What is this body paragraph about? What argument are you trying to present in this paragraph?Ā
Example:Ā Examples which support your claim (topic sentence).Ā
eXplain:Ā Link argument/ point back to your thesis. How does the example illustrate your thesis argument? To what extent? Why? If you canāt link it back to your thesis then reconsider this paragraph srsly.Ā
(YES IM AWARE IT SHOULD BE āS.E.Eā but people get confused with the two āeāsā) Ā
2. PlanĀ
No matter the time limit, set aside a few minutes to scribble down a plan.Ā
Highlight the keywords in the qu to ensure youāre addressing the quĀ
State your thesis
Dot point your paragraphs (e.g. I used to just quickly list the topic of each body para + 3 sub points as per above)Ā
+ if/when you run out of time you can quickly scramble and rewrite what you had in your planĀ
3. Introduction
Basic structureĀ
1. General Context (optional)Ā
2. ThesisĀ
3. Signpost your structure (e.g. _____ will be illustrated by reference to B1, B2, B3)
4. Concluding line (e.g. In essence, analysis/comparison/distinctions between____will illustrate_____)
In a timed exam you donāt have the luxury ofĀ āwriting your essay and then going back and doing your introductionā. Do it first.
Why? Because it will give your examiner a goodĀ āmindmapā of your essay. If you donāt finish your essay, your examiner will be able to ascertain your argument (or where it was going) through your introduction.Ā
4. ConclusionĀ
Basic StructureĀ
OpeningĀ
Re-state ThesisĀ
Recanvas body paragraph arguments (basically go through your topic sentence)Ā
ConcludeĀ
Typically at the high school level, you are strongly advised againstĀ introducing new ideas in your conclusion
In some selectĀ disciplines, you are encouraged to talk aboutĀ āthematic linksā andĀ āfurther research/ quā in your conclusionĀ
5. Be strict with your timeĀ
Divide your time.Ā
If you know the breakdown of the exam prior to the day, then write down the exact time.
e.g. 9am start time, 60 min exam
9:05 - Finish Plan
9:15 - Finish Intro
9:27 - Finish Body Paragraph 1Ā
9:39 - Finish Body Paragraph 2Ā
9:51 - Finish Body Paragraph 3
10:00 - Finish ConclusionĀ
+ ofc proof reading timeĀ
6. BRING A FREAKINā WATCH THAT WORKSĀ
SELF EXPLANATORYĀ
7. PensĀ
Get a pen which wonāt jam on you
Also have like 14706817468 spares.Ā
I also like pens of different grip diameters - switching pens halfway through helps me relax my grip and avoid crampsĀ
Hope that helps!
the new year is fast approaching and although I initially wanted to write my new yearās resolution, I decided that they werenāt going to be effective at all. However, I did find out that there are other ways to make 2018 as fruitful as possible. Here are some things you can try!
First Post!
Hey yāall! My name is Kristina and this is my first studyblr! Iāve been following studyblrs since I can remember joining tumblr (2010? 2011?) and I figured I should finally give it a shot!
My main blog is @comolasfloresss where I reblog things I think are pretty and/or funny, so if you get a follow from that account itās me! This blog is gonna be mostly posting about my study habits + achieving my new yearsā resolutions, one of them being to make a 4.0 before I graduate next December :)
I currently study electronic media at my university, which is a broad study of production for all kinds of media, from TV to radio to film. Iām also double minoring in music and theatre, which are two of my passions. Eventually, the dream is to go to grad school for acting at NYU, but Iāve got a lot of work to do before I get there :) Some studyblrs I love are listed below:
- @saflinstudies (I checked her first post as a ref for this one lmao) - @studyquill - @hardworkign - @productividays - @mathematicool - @studylikeaslytherin Some fun facts about me are that my favorite movie is Clueless, I LOVE Stranger Things, my favorite color is blush/rose gold, Iām a Slytherin (like a few blogs I mentioned lol) and I turn 21 in a few weeks! I live in the USA and I would love to meet other bloggers! Give this post a like/reblog and Iād love to check your blogs out :)
Welcome to the studyblr community Kristina!
Omg, I just read your intro post and you are... THE COOLEST! I wish I was more like you when I was fourteen years old. Anyways, best of luck with everything :) xx
Aw, thank you so much!\(^u^)/ We should chat more, feel free to hmu anytime!
*please, reblog if uāre a studyblr*
iām new here and need a lot of blogs to followĀ ļ¼ć»ļ½ć»ļ¼also if you talk to me iāll be really happy (iām a shy kid)

{Study Tips #1 Methods for Studying}
š READ YOUR TEXTBOOK. Even for your math and physical science classes. At the beginning of each chapter, youāll find a section that gives the key terms, objectives, and core concepts. At the end of each chapter, youāll find a short summary and review questions. I find these things very helpful when studying for exams. In order to understand how to solve problems in math, you need to understand the concepts. For your theoretical classes, these sections are vital in studying I think.
š TURN YOUR NOTES INTO FLASH CARDS. If your professor gives handouts of their PowerPoint slides, itās even better, but if you have to write your own notes, thatās fine too! Once you have the notes, convert them into flash card form. I love using Quizlet because it saves time and energy. Even if some of the flash cards are questions on one side and the answer(s) on the other, I feel this method is really helpful.
This is an example of how I use Quizlet to make flash cards.
š USE QUIZLET. This goes back to the last point. I love using quizlet bc you can look up other study sets that other people have made (to better your knowledge and understanding of a topic) and you can make your own study sets. The good thing about quizlet is you can test yourself on the flash cards because the website generates the flash cards into different types of questions (mcq, fill in the blank, T/F, writing, etc.) This website is also an app, so you can study on the go!
Do you know about any app like a digital planner?
Hey! Here are a few apps that might work:
Wunderlist
Planner Pro
24me
Remember The Milk
Google Calendar
Pocket Schedule - Class Schedule, Homework Planner
AwesomeNote2 - All in One Organiser
AnyList
The Homework App - Your Class Assignment & Timetable Schedule Planner
My Study Life
Calendars by Readdle - Event and Task Manager
Class Timetable
Countdown+
Due - Reminders, Countdown Timers
Do! - The Best of Simple To Do Lists
Workflow: Powerful Automation Made Simple
Glass Planner
Day One Journal
iStudiez Pro
Awesome Note 2
However, I have seen few people utilising my printables as digital planners with applications that read and allow for text/edits on PDF files! It is a great alternative, especially if youāre worried about mistakes/changes ruining your planner or donāt have space to carry a large planner.Ā Here is an example. I think it is a great way to use a more traditional planner on a tablet :-) I have a few options that you might like to check out:
2018 weekly planner
2018 student planner
I am planning to make a daily one, if youāre interested let me know!
Hope this helps x
The Productivity Files
The Productivity Files
āØWhat is it? This is a personal project Iāve started for myself in order to gage my time management and productivity. The main focus is self accountability and self discipline; by laying out the accomplishments and failings of each day, truly and honestly, I can see where it is I am falling behind and what Iām lacking. The Productivity Files will be just that: an honest record of your productivity.
āØHow is it done? At the end of each day, two days, a week ā what ever suits you best (but nothing longer than two weeks as by then it is difficult to remember so many details, I think) ā I will record my day/s by making either a textpost or a picture post + text. In this post, I will include my tasks for the day and their status. That is, if Iāve completed them, migrated them, didnāt do them at all, etc. I will also include a visual breakdown of my day, either using a parallel time ladder in my Hobonichi or using my calendar app in my computer. I may also choose to simply record how long I took to complete something by providing hours worked on or how many pomodoroās it took me. If posting text detailing my day, Iāve created a key as follows:
š . task X complete / started > migrated ā cancelled * event
āØThere are really not too many rules. Itās like a diary of sorts dedicated to my studying and self improvement. Thereās no need for intricate layouts or supplies, providing raw data is all that is needed. I think recording my days will help hold me accountable of any wasted time and I will be far more aware of where my time is going. Moreover, I can see my progress as I go along. ⨠The Productivity Files will be under a tag of the same name: #the productivity files in my blog. ⨠Who can do it?Ā Anyone! If you think youād like to join, simply tag your Productivity Files posts as #the productivity files and as #minimalismstudies so that I can see them! In addition, tagging it as #the productivity files allows it to be searchable so you can go and see your progress through your blog.
My new yearās resolution; to keep up a personal bullet journal!
