Rylan is the second child to Caroline and William Callahan, born on June 1st, 1990 in London, England. Growing up it quickly became obvious that he was the complete opposite to his older brother not only in appearance but also in character. While Pearce appeared to be the quiet one out of the two boys, Rylan was always seeking trouble. While Pearce prefered to help their mother around the house, Rylan would be out and about all day. By the age of ten he'd already broken both his wrists at least once, his knees were covered in scars and there were barely any clothes that didn't have at least one hole in them that he owned. Yet the ever present crooked smirk never left his lips.

Unlike his older brother, who took interest in academics and writing, Rylan's strenght lay in sports. He was on his school's soccer team and was one of the few his coach had high hopes for. However, it all changed once he hit puberty. Given his wild personality, his family always suspected this would be a tough period but little did they know it would actually be the period to shape him into the trainwreck he is today.

As a teen, Rylan was the one to eagerly try anything that life could offer. He was thirteen when he had his first taste of alcohol and fourteen when he smoked his first cigarette. With his brother gone to further his studies and set an example for the rest of them to follow and him being the one the little ones were now supposed to be looking up to, his parents often criticized him for his poor choices (all out of love and desire to see him succeed in life, of course).

In high school Rylan was known to obtain the reputation of a bad boy. He'd throw parties when their parents were away, he'd take part in underground races and any other activity that society deemed forbidden yet teenagers in those days found amusing. It was one of these races that sparked his interest. As any other boy, he was a fan of F1 but he knew his parents would never approve this career choice, which is why he did it all behind their backs.

He picked up a summer job at a go-karting place in London and for once his parents had hope he was finally heading the right way, but the sole reason he agreed on the job was the arrangement he had with the owner — he'd help out but they'd let him drive for free when there weren't people around. It was clear he had the passion to suceed and with his hard-work came the talent for it, too. He started competing at the age of seventeen and by the age of eighteen he'd one a few first places already. With the money he'd made, he paid to get his driver's license.

After graduation, Rylan (even to his own surprise) followed into his older brother's footsteps and proceeded a degree in Motorsports Engineering. His parents weren't thrilled by his choice but at least they were happy he'd picked a career that would keep him away from the streets while still following his true passion. Little did they know, Ryle kept competing behind their backs. He'd take part in underground races in order to gain money and skills.

It wasn't until he got arrested for taking part in illegal car racing at the age of twenty-five when his parents finally learnt the truth about his double life. To say they were disappointed would be an understatement; they felt betrayed and utterly helpless, giving him one final ultimatum. His brother had just moved to Wilmington, slowly setting a life for himself there, and considering they were close in age and Pearce was someone Ryle looked up despite their differences, they thought it'd be best for him to move and spend some time with his brother. If they couldn't convince him to stop his destructive way of living, perhaps his brother could, they thought.

So, at the age of twenty-six Rylan packed his bags and moved to Wilmington. For the first few weeks he crashed in with his brother at his place before he was able to afford his own. He still hasn't given up on his old habits and continues competing, whether it's legal or not, but he's also finally been putting some use of his earned bachelor's degree as a mechanic at a local car shop.

"Do you think Pearce would love a scarf or one of these Christmas designed mugs?" He turned to Irza for some advice while looking at a rather stylish piece of cloth on display. "I actually saw a holidays Baileys pack with a mug and small bottle." It was a shame he couldn't decide on what his own brother might like, even worse that he relied on his best friend for some advice, but the differences between the Callahan brothers were sometimes more than the similarities and Christmas shopping has always been a struggle for that matter. "It's either that or a couple's deal at The Four Seasons."

sloane didn't know the guy but she could already tell that she wasn't ever going to like him. the way he acted wasn't something she vibed with and she made sure to make that clear. after all, her family owned this place so what's the worst that could happen to her. "do you think it's cute or something? news flash, it's not." she paused, glancing over at him as she started to toss some things into his cart that she knew that he needed. at this point, she just wanted him out of there.

"Some girls like it." Rylan shrugged. He could have easily kept the thought to himself, but the rebel inside of him wouldn't let him. He just knew they'll piss the woman and while he knew better than to do so since he needed her assistance around the shop, he just couldn't help himself. "But I get that you're not like most girls." He mused. "I mean, most girls could barely tell the difference between two types of screwdrivers, right? And here you are, managing a hardware store all by yourself."

Her head tilted and her gaze narrowed as she tried to get a good read on him. She was normally good at getting a read on whether people were trying to bullshit or were genuine, and since she could barely do so with Ryle, she supposed that there had to be a bit of both in there. Maybe he landed somewhere in the middle which meant that she would need to play this as if he was good. "I'm not afraid of high risks." She told him and decided that she'd decide on something pretty significant in fear that he was going with a big type of 'punishment' for when he won. Better safe than sorry. "Enough talking, let's actually play so I can see if your words match up with reality."

Whether her words were truth or not was up to be decided, but for now Rylan was eager to follow up on her suggestion and focus on the game instead of figuring her out. Generally, he wasn't the type to dwell on figuring people and their true intentions. That was trait reserved for his brother. It required patience which Ryle often times lacked. Striking another successful hit, he walked around the table, getting a better look before his eyes focused on the woman. "So have you picked a bet already?"

Malia stood near the van, shifting her weight from foot to foot. “The only issues before were basic stuff - regular oil changes, new tires when needed. Yesterday morning, during school drop-off, it started making this weird noise. First like metal shaking around, then it turned into this coughing sound.” She definitely couldn’t handle buying a new car right now - not with Leilani’s daycare and her tuition payments. “For real? That would be such a lifesaver if it’s something simple like that,” she said, reaching over to pop the hood. The metal creaked open, and she stepped back to give him space. “I’ve been trying to learn basic maintenance from YouTube tutorials, but everything under there still looks super confusing to me.” A small laugh escaped her lips while she crossed her arms against the cool air. “Thanks for checking it out. Money’s been pretty tight these days, and I was seriously stressing about possible repair costs.”

"Well, that metal shaking sound you mentioned doesn't sound good, but we'll see." Rylan sighed, a sense of excitement building up his chest before he leaned forward to inspect the car from up close. "So has it been losing power aside from the sound?" He asked, his voice more of an echo as he did a couple more close tests. "As for the repair costs, you'll need to discuss it with my boss. We have a standard policy but every now and then he's willing to bend the rules, so you might be lucky to get a discount on the service. However, he's already gone for the day, so you'll need to check back tomorrow. Which leads me to, is it possible to leave the van here for the night?"

Irza nodded along as he listened to Rylan's perspective, his fingers drumming against his thigh. The man had a point–chaos would find its way regardless. He watched his the other’s expression, noting the neutral stance. "You're making sense. If someone wants to cause trouble, they'll find another opportunity. You know what? You're right. Arguing about it won't change anything." He shifted in his seat, thinking about how much had changed in the past few months. "We're agreed here." A small frown crossed his features as another thought occurred to him. "Have you talked to your brother recently? He’s happy and dating."

Smirk pulled at the corner of Ryle's lips at how quickly Irza shifted the conversation at another direction. One that was far from the current chaos spreadin around Wilmington. "You said it." He shrugged. "He's happy and dating." Despite the touch of sarcasm laced in his voice as he repeated the mayor's words, deep down Rylan was genuinely happy to see his brother moving forward with his life. "But you don't need me confirming that for you, right? I know you've grown close over the years."

she couldn't help glare at the other in front of her, "do you think this whole asshole attitude is cute or something? i'm all for helping customers but i don't do this whole i'm a woman so i have to bow down to a man and i'm sure my brother would understand if i did tell you to get out of here." sloane crossed her arms, "so, are we going to try this again with some respect or not?"

Every now and then Rylan happened to get scolded for his asshole attitude as people liked to call it and often times it only made him act twice as unbareable. Today, however, he could clearly see the woman was on edge yet it was hard to run from nature. "I'm truly sorry, sweetheart, but this whole asswhole attitude is who I am." He shrugged. "Like it or not, I can't change that, but trust me when I say I respect the help and the whole fact that you're working here."

Donnie laughed. "I don't read them at work. I get 24 hours long shifts and then rest for a couple of days. I'm also a fast reader, which you clearly aren't." He joked just to mess with his friend. Firefighters were busy and Donnie kept even busier, between his job, the book club, his family and all the errands he found himself staying busy with. But reading was his safe space, so he tended to spend more time doing it than anything else. "Same here. It doesn't feel like the police have any idea of what is going on, so it's a little unsettling, you know?"

As surprised as Ryle was by Donnie's answer, his remark on his reading caused him to let out a laugh that hid all his other emotions. "It's sweet that you think I even try." Reading was a peaceful activity which was far from who Rylan truly was. At school it was the hardest thing for any teacher to force him to do despite literature being among the classes he exceeded in. "I'm a non-reader, my friend." Unless it was an audiobook. He'd recently found them and it was mostly his boss's fault who happened to put one of these every week in the shop instead of music. "Tell me, when have you ever heard of the police knowing what they are doing?"

"you're an idiot, do you know that?" pearce had no problem letting his brother know how he truly felt in this moment, especially when he wasn't using his brain and the last thing he wanted was to lose his brother. "i doubt i'll make an appearance unless ariya really wants to go. she's been ill lately so i'm not sure what she'll be up for and what she won't be up for here lately."

Ryle found it hard not to smirk at his brother's remark. He'd heard those words far too much from both Pearce and some of his friends by now to even feel offended by them. How could he? When most times people were right to call him that. When his recklessness often bordered with stupidity. "You've always been not the biggest fan of it anyway, so I can't say I'm surprised." A shadow of concern flashed over his face without reaching his eyes and the devilish glint in them. "Am I about to become an uncle? Or is it too soon for that yet?"

wynne couldn't help but to met with the other. after all, the playful banter only made the game that much more interesting as far as she was concerned. "we'll just have to see now, won't we?" she asked as she shifted toward the pool table with a grin plastered over her face. "i'm always solids." she cooed and leaned down to start the game.

Rylan didn't think it was needed to answer the question. Yet he offered a quick shrug of his shoulders before focusing his attention on Wynne's move. Her last words forcing a tremble at the corner of his lips yet he tried not to smirk. He hoped to prove her wrong on the first move, but fate seemed to have latched hard on her tonight as a solid red ball rolled all the way to one of the pockets. He wouldn't let that bother him, though. He loved a good challenge, after all. "You know, I haven't seen you around often."

a sigh of relief managed to escape her lips, "you'll really let me have it?" that was, by far, the best news that she'd managed to receive that day and she was glad that she managed to talk him into it. "well, the pillsbury dough is almost as good but it's not my favorite. i do think that he could enjoy it just as much." she lifted the package up and offered it in his direction, "this one specifically because it has the double chocolate chips, so it makes the blow of a different brand less painful."

Honestly, Rylan didn't care much about brands. Despite his mother's constant complains how much of a picky eather he was, maybe it was just a phase, because one couldn't say he had problems with food. Sure, there was stuff he didn't like, but as far as he was concerned food tasted just the same despite a brand name attached to it. "Sounds more delicious in my opinion." He argued yet taking the package in exchange for the one in his hands. "Would never understand how someone can give up double chocolate over a specific brand of cookie dough but it's your choice."

She thought about what they could bet on to make things more interesting and she simply stared at him for a beat too long while she came up with options. "There's no fun in telling you right now. Maybe we see who wins and then they lay what they had in mind and the other person can't say no." It was risky but it gave them more reason to try to win because of the risk of doing something they didn't want to do. "Unless you're scared?"

There was a layer of excitement coming from not knowing what were the stakes exactly, but that didn't worry him since Rylan intended to win this round just like he'd done with the last one. He had to figure a proper 'punishment' for the woman, but if it was her choice not to lay their cards from the start, he just had won himself some more time to try and figure that out, which he wasn't complaining about at all. "Sweetheart, I'm afraid I don't know the meaning of that word, but if I were you, I wouldn't be taking such high risks." Lies. If it was him, he'd take any risk he'd been handed but that was him. Always eager to jump on in, think later. She, however, seemed more calculated or at least that was his first impression. He couldn't argue there was some allure to his recklessness that tended to pull people, though.

"True, but just because it's out there, it doesn't mean we should make things worst." Irza sat up straighter, mulling over what Pearce thought about the fright fest. His best friend's take on canceling made perfect sense with everything going on. But backing down? Not his thing. "Your brother's got valid concerns," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "But I think canceling would send the wrong message. We need unity right now, not isolation." His mind drifted to Ember back home, remembering how she'd stood up to her attacker. "Sometimes the best way to fight fear is to face it head-on."

Rylan gave a shrug, not seeing how he could contribute much to the topic. He wasn't the type to start running rumors despite being the type to let the ones already circulating run even wilder since they actually made quite good small talk topics. He'd learnt people were actually suckers for focusing on anyone else's life but their own. "I'm not going to argue which view is right and which is wrong. I've already done it once. Besides, what's bound to happen, can't be stopped, and if someone is planning on using the fest to stir chaos, they'll just find another way if it gets canceled, right?"

wynne liked a challenge. more than that, she liked to win. it kind of went hand in hand with her name. "is that what that was?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow at the man in front of her with a smile stretched across her face. "we'll just have to see now won't we? loser buy the next round of drinks. you better get your credit card ready."

Rylan recognized the desire to win withing Wynne's eyes. It almost felt as if he was staring at his own reflection if it wasn't for the pair of dark hues staring back at him, the feminite features and small figure. Smirk pulled at the corner of his lips in response to her words. "Careful, luck may be on my side this time and you could be buying this round. But as a winner, I'll let you pick your color."

Malia anxiously tucked her hair behind her ear, studying the male’s reaction to her aging minivan. The vehicle had seen better days, but it was all she could afford after leaving James. “I’ve had it about five years,” she said, smiling like she just got caught with something she wasn’t supposed to have. “Now it’s making this weird noise, sort of like coughing, and the check engine light started flashing yesterday.” She glanced at the dashboard where red and yellow warning lights blinked back at her. Money was already tight between daycare costs and groceries - an expensive repair bill would throw everything off balance. She needed this car to work, to get Leilani to school, and get to work. “It’s not much to look at,” she gave the hood a gentle pat. “But it’s gotten my daughter and me through some really rough spots.”

"And has it had other issues prior to this one?" Rylan asked, taking a quick look on the outside while attempting to gain as much information on the vehicle condition before jumping to any conclusions even if he already had his guesses of what might be the problem. While fixing hasn't been his passion, he'd learnt quite few things throught his studying as well as working at the car shop. It seemed the woman wasn't as clueless, too. Based on everything, it sounded as if she'd been through enough, but that was something Ryle decided not to focus too much of his attention on. "Did it started making this sound yesterday, too? Or was it today? Either way, it might be best to lift up the hood and check the engine since that's what the light's been indicating at. If you're lucky, it might be just a dirty air filter which is easy to replace. I think we even got some spare in the shop."

Kashvi hadn’t expected that answer from Rylan. Mostly because everything she initially knew about him was that he’d sought out those adventurous experiences which was why this reasons wasn’t one she could ever imagine. That was what prompted her to stop walking and wait for him to realize before she finally spoke up. “Then why did you move here Ryle? I mean—as far as I know you, you’re not one to stay stuck in a place that doesn’t make you happy.” But then again it had been years since they’d really connected so perhaps something really had changed in his life to get to this place.

"It wasn't my choice." He wasn't regretting it either, though. He certainly didn't mean his last words in the way she'd decided to take them in as. He'd just been honest as he always was. "It was my parents who saw it as an opportunity to turn my life around. Thought if they couldn't pour some sense into me, perhaps Pearce would." Everytime he told that story, Rylan felt that urge to smile. Especially when memories of his older brother trying to do just that flooded his mind. While he listened, Ryle was equal parts stubborn and reckless and it wasn't until he'd burnt himself once before he'd start taking the advice. "Besides, who said I wasn't happy here?" Returning back to the conversation, his eyebrows furrowed as the question was asked. "I may not be going through life at full speed currently, but I'm perfectly content with where I am right now. All I meant was -- I don't have as exciting new things going on in my life as you do, that's all."

He rubbed his temples, studying Rylan's expression. Self-defense or not, the situation needed proper investigation. "Listen, I get it. Kian's your friend, but rumors don't make facts." Irza shifted in his seat, the weight of recent events pressing on his shoulders. "The blackout's got everyone scared, I know. Between Ember's attack and the kidnappings of Kimberly and Benjamin…" He paused, remembering their traumatized faces after the rescue. "Wild stories are the last thing we need right now." His dark eyes fixed on Pearce's younger brother, seeing the same stubborn streak that ran in the family. "I promise you this—every case will get a fair investigation. That's all I can say for now." The conversation reminded him of his own brother, Emre, and how protective he'd always been of him too.

He wasn't sure exactly where him and Kian stood in the spectre of people who simply knew each other and friends, but he didn't argue when Irza made the assumption either. "I'm sure there will be plenty of these, though." Ryle let out a dry laugh. It almost seemed as if the main purpose of these events was to create chaos and it was working. The question why, though, remained. "You know, my brother doesn't think holding the fright fest this year isn't a good idea?" Figuring he wouldn't get more info out of the man, Rylan decided it was best to drop the subject.
