"I’m still confused about what changed you’re referring to. I’m the same as normal, nothing’s changed Ryoga I swear. I guess I just realized how much I care about you…" He started letting the sentence fade off as he spoke in a nervous chuckle.

[ryogakamishiro]

Ryoga stares. So he really doesn't think he's different in any way? His memories are probably still there, but what about the feelings associated with him? Are they just lighter or what?

His confusion shows on his face as he cups his chin in thought. They say there's a fine line between love and hate. Maybe it crossed over. Wait. What?! That can't be it! That's utterly ridiculous.

How can feelings change that easily? But the way IV, no Thomas, is acting right now really can't be explained by anything besides a shy crush. Or is it a crush? He doesn't know for sure.

"Was that some kind of subtle love confession?" Ryoga asks before he can stop himself. It's said in a quiet tone. He's not good with feelings. Feelings are Rio's route. Rio is better at feelings than he is.

"Are you actually saying you have a crush on me or something, because the way you're acting kind of makes it seem that way."

"I’m me?"  He asked tilting his head to the side, confused by the other’s words. "My name’s Thomas by the way, so you can stop calling me by that silly little Alias." He let out a nervous little chuckle as he smiled. "And what do you mean, you’ve ‘never been my favorite preson’? Of course you are, I am your number one fan after all."

"Okay then." Ryoga is still confused, but perhaps it's best he just stop questioning whether this is IV. He has never known IV's real name, so it's a relief to finally know it. So his real name is Thomas? Obviously something occurred to make him act nicer for at least the moment. Knowing that it's most likely temporary, Ryoga should of course be cautious.

On the other hand, it'd be nice if the two of them could start over now and put the past behind them. Really, it would. "And when did this change happen?" He asks this like they're having a casual conversation about the weather.

"Riiiiight. Sorry about that." He started with a shyer tone. "I know I can be sort of rough around the edges, I’ll work on that for you." He smiles at him, rubbing the back of his head. "But I feel completely fine. Why wouldn’t I be now that my favorite person is here?" 

[ryogakamishiro]

"Uh, okay. Who are you and why are you not acting like the IV that I know? The IV that I know would never be so...polite? Is that the word? And just so you know, I have never been your 'favorite person', so something is clearly...up with you. Are you sure you don't need to lie down and have something to drink?"

Ryoga searches for anything that's a sign of the normal IV. Nope. Nothing. Is he concerned or does he just prefer that people act like they usually do? People can change, sure, but like this? This is just weird.

"What are you talking about Ryoga? I’m fine, even better now that you’re here." He smiles. 

[ryogakamishiro]

"Excuse me, what? Are you sure you're okay?" He raises an eyebrow at IV's smile. It doesn't seem to be mocking him or anything, so the only thing he's left with is what got IV in this mood. Eh, whatever. It won't last forever, so maybe he should appreciate it, or figure out how to get IV back to normal. One or the other.

"What am I talking about? We normally argue all the time, so it's a miracle we aren't picking an argument with each other now."

"If it isn’t my favorite aquatic duelist. How are you Ryoga~<3 ?!" He says in a sing-song voice. 

[ryogakamishiro]

"What the hell? Something seems off about you already and I can't figure out what that is. Maybe it's the way you just said that."

What's this about me needing to look in a mirror? At least I don't look like a replacement mascot for McDonald's.

"I would rather look like the replacement mascot for McDonald’s than a power ranger. I mean seriously, have you looked at yourself? I think you need a mirror before you decide which one of us looks like a clown."

His tongue glides over his teeth after the hit, as if to check that they’re all still in place. Turning his head to the side, he swishes the liquid in his mouth for a moment before he spits the blood to the ground. “Well isn’t that cute?” He starts with an unamused taunt. “You haven’t changed a bit. You killed her in the past, and I put her in a coma in the present. I guess we really are alike.” The words come out harsh and fast just like the slap in the face he intended them to be. “Both of us will end up being the death of your dear sister, huh?” 

He’s sure he’ll receive the beating of his life for his mocking, but at this point he can’t find the nerve to care. Maybe it’ll knock some sense into him to have blood on his hands. 

His lips curled up into the sinister look he wore not so long ago, as the laughter escaped his frame. “And I never wanted to fight you in the first place. I never wanted to cause you or your friends pain - but there’s things in life you can’t abandon, so I guess I understand what you’re getting at. But if you say you’re going to do the same damage to me that I do to you, when do I get to drive a knife into your backbecause all you’re doing now is driving it deeper in mine.”  The words came out like poison, venom corroding the ground they stood upon, as his crimson gaze burned through the man before him. 

"Don’t play the ‘you don’t know me card’, Ryoga. Not when you still call me by that damnable alias. “

"We are nothing alike, IV!" Nasch bares down on his teeth and clenches his fists. "How DARE you suggest that I was responsible for my sister's death! How DARE you suggest that we are alike in such a fashion! You really are a pathetic bastard!" He speaks his words in a loud, furious tone, his words coming out as a near growl as he responds to IV's mocking.

"Oh, believe me, IV, it's a pain in the ass that I don't have a real knife. You just pissed me off so badly that I want to drive a real knife deep into your back, and so deep that your death is the result!" After letting out equally venomous words, he throws another punch at IV's jaw, his eyes filled with the desire for bloodshed and the destruction of the man who always knew how to push his buttons in the most effective manner.

If circumstances were different, Nasch and IV could definitely have been close friends. As things are now, that's impossible.

"What the fuck am I supposed to call you then? You never properly introduced yourself to me by any other name!" Nasch, though pissed to the core, is quite aware that IV and himself never truly became acquainted in a way that allowed them to know the other. If IV doesn't know him, well, it's damn likely that Nasch doesn't know him either. Then again, does he even want to know who this bastard is? Not a damn fucking chance.

"I can play whatever card I want. It's true. You DON'T know me! If you did, the shit coming out of your mouth wouldn't make me think you have a death wish!"

Well, I’m not sure yet. I’m just throwing a Halloween party. You can come, but there is one condition.

You can’t dress up as a duel monster.

Damn, I was going to dress up as a Duel Monster. Well, I suppose I can go as something common. Maybe I could dress up as a vampire.

"You’ll find she would do things like that with me. Wait, what’s a boyfriend application? Is that a real thing people do? That’s so ridiculous! Are you this upset that your sister appreciates one of the special brands of fanservices I give?”

"Yes, actually, I am. Although I don't know how many people actually do this on Earth, the Barian World made it a tradition to do it before dating anyone a few decades before the present time. And secondly, I require proof that she even likes you at all."

He sighed. Snarky as ever, he expected that. Of course the duelist turned overload would have plenty of his own quips ready for a verbal counterattack.  The more he thought about it, the more he felt the fire inside him start to fade to a simmer. If he was ‘Nasch’ now then that meant he just discarded everything. His friends, his family, his humanity…Yuma…him. 

Did that all just mean nothing to him? Did everything just mean nothing? 

He talked about the Barians as ‘his people’ the angrier he became. There were no words that could express his feelings now. There was no thought to stop him this time; no safe guards in his mind to make him think it through. His fist connected with the other’s jaw without warning. 

“You, son of a bitch!" 

Heavy breathing left his frame as his eyes flared with the rage that clouded his mind now.  ”You threw anyway everything for people who you only claim to know! You threw away your friends! You threw away Yuma! How dare you?! How dare you?!”  

‘You threw away me.’ He thought to himself, as he gritted his teeth together, throwing another rage induced swing. 

Sometimes there were things that card games just couldn’t settle.

Nasch grabs his face where IV hit him. "You know, I wasn't going to get violent with you, but you leave me with no other choice!"

Raising his fist, he throws a punch at IV's jaw just as he had done seconds before. "The Barians believe in an eye for an eye, so for everything you deal to me I'm going to inflict just as much damage back - if not more."

He pauses to respond to his words of rage. "You think you know me, don't you, IV? You know nothing about what it's like to live your life with this thought that you're someone you aren't. When reality shatters the illusion, it can be a hard thing to fix and do you know something? I never wanted to be a Barian, but the fact I am one means I can't just abandon an entire planet full of people that need me to rule over them. You don't have those memories. You haven't seen what I have. You've never had a sibling die! In my past life, Merag died. In my current life, I must fight to make sure Merag doesn't die again!"

What about me? She asked me to help her with her Halloween costume.

Well, I suppose as long as you're only helping Rio with her Halloween costume, that's fine. Wait...why would she ask you for help with that? What is she planning on being for Halloween?

" Why wouldn’t she? I’m only one of the best looking guys around. Aw, do you not get what I mean by noises? You’d think a thousand year old space alien would understand, or do you guys breed differently? Who knows. I think I’m perfect for her, and there’s nothing you can do about this.”

"What?! She would never do THAT with you. She has much better taste in men and sex partners! Hmph. If you really think you're that perfect for her, then fill out a boyfriend application for Rio and I'll tell you if your answers make you 'perfect' for her."

Tetsuo isn't allowed to touch her either. Tetsuo and IV are both forbidden from touching my sister.

His eyes narrowed at the other while he listened to his words. “Of course that’s what I’m doing Ryoga. Of course.” He scoffed at the other, placing a hand on his hip. “It’s not like I ever attempted to fix the gap between us. It’s not like you saved my family.” Though the words came out in a harsh growl, the pain in his eyes was all too obvious.  

However as his once rival spoke of ‘his people’, his heart sank. He didn’t want to admit it, but the Ryoga he knew seemed to be long gone by now. “Wait. I’m sorry. I apologize, how rude of me to address you so casually, your highness.” He spat with a poisonous sarcasm. “You’re a disgrace compared to Ryoga, but I’m sure you have some ridiculous argument for that too, don’t you? Nasch."    

[ryogakamishiro]

"Ryoga saved your family and Ryoga is the person you wanted to make amends with, but I'm not him anymore." Nasch remarks. As he listens to IV let out his sarcasm and compare his worth to the person he once was, he calculates his next response.

"If you want me to take you seriously, you have to try harder than that. Have you considered filing a two-page report on why I'm a disgrace?"

"Ryoga, there is many answers I can give you to that question, but it’s up to you to believe me. Yes, I do know where your sister is, have you checked my room yet? I think she makes the most adorable little noises. Not that you’d know of course."

"What the hell? Why would she be in YOUR room? And what kind of noises are you talking about? If I hear that you touched her in any way, I will be incredibly furious. Keep your filthy hands off her! She deserves better than you."
