sometimes i think about how (unintentionally?) tf and graves in burning tides show the two mythological attitudes towards death in runeterra… graves, cornered by gangplank’s men, completely hopeless but still refusing to go down without a fight being the wolf, and tf accepting and finding his death peaceful at the bottom of the ocean being the lamb…… the IMPLICATIONS they make me go insane

when Graves finally starts to accept that TF didn’t betray him, he essentially changes paths to that of the Lamb; I guess this is where my story ends. I had a good run for a while there. But nobody’s luck lasts forever. his internal dialogue in that part of the scene reads as sort of tired and resigned – as long as he can get TF out of there and not drag him down with him unjustly, I think he would call it good and accept dying himself at that point, just taking his small pleasures like stunning Gangplank along the way. Death was never as important to him as TF is, after all. (He even directly says as much earlier in the story: But livin’ ain’t the most important thing to me today.)

Now, at the end, I believe T.F. I know he tried everything to get me out, like he did all those times when we ran together. This time, for once, I’ve got the out. I can at least give him that. Once he really believes again that he meant as much to TF as TF did to him, he’s okay-ish with going as long as TF gets out alive.

when TF chooses to sink to the bottom of the ocean rather than let go of the chance to save Graves, he’s going the path of the Wolf: he’s fighting every step of the way – not for his own life, you can tell he fully doesn’t expect to make it out of there himself, but for Graves’ life. that he’s willing to fight tooth and nail for as he wouldn’t for his own. once he has saved Graves, he gives in to the peacefulness of death on his own account, but not before.

I… want to say something about love that both transcends and transforms death here, but I’m not sure I know how haha

They would actually do it. Imagine their disappointment: took them years to come to terms with it, propose, agree they want to stay together and then just... "Well, shit, 30 years ago U did it while drunk, sorry guys".
