Hii, it’s Bunni here! My family and I aren’t doing so well at the moment. My dad was fired from his job as a parking attendant last month. Since then, we’ve gone to great lengths to try and get him another job. We’ve applied him for every single job you can think of using a digital resume (Via http://indeed.com) I created for him online. As a CDL driver, TLC driver, (he studied for his CDL license exam only to fail it twice), parking vendor, car wash manager, through online job search sites (ZipRecruiter, Indeed, etc). He’s also been doing his fair share of job searching for hours at a time during the past few weeks as well, but, the businesses he’s been to are either not hiring any more workers because their slots are full, or he lacks the experience or skill they’re seeking. Others aren’t offering much money, are quite far from home, or their hours exceed the welfare benefits we receive (bits of $ from Medicaid, Food Stamps, Social Security). Meanwhile, my stay at home mom is struggling to take care of us, a family of five, because of a severe cataract which may leave her blind, as well as, severe joint and bone pain. The aid we receive from such welfare programs isn’t enough! We can’t even purchase nor sustain a weeks worth of food, clothes and supplies, when the rent has now been raised to $1,850 and utility bills are $400 combined. In addition to all that, I have a major birth disability; legal blindness on my left eye. This disability has resulted in my frequent falling down flights of stairs or unlevelled ground. Hence, I’m physically unable to get a job to help out. Because of this, we’re often left hungry, malnourished, fatigued, and caged in. We never seem to manage to do anything other than try and make up for loose ends (over due bills, rent payments, etc) simply because we can’t afford it! We never have enough, and just when we think things are getting better, we realize that we’re missing something of great importance. So, I’ve decided to reach out in hopes that I’ll be able to help my family get by for just a little bit longer. If you can donate anything, and I mean anything, it would be greatly appreciated!
