Fic snippet: V goes to Viktor Vektor’s apartment after the Japantown safehouse disaster

“Looked at the news while you were in the shower.”

“Oh,” V felt that tightness in her stomach again.

“I can’t let you scurry out of here in the middle of the night. Can you promise me you’ll stay put? Least until morning?”

She wiggled to her side, hands tucked under the pillow. “Yeah, of course.” V was surprised that he assumed she’d bail at the first chance. “I dunno how to thank you. Again.”

Viktor wrapped his tattooed arm down her spine, tugging her into his lap. “How many times I gotta tell you?”

He’s falling for you, V. You don’t gotta thank the man for that.

She slid her arm around his waist, drinking in the intimacy of his words. V looked up at Vik with wide eyes.

“Maybe just one more time.”

When they met halfway for a kiss, she was able to sneakily wipe away the tear that threatened her fresh bandages. He was being gentle with her, and it was probably for the best. V had never tried to hop into bed with someone after plummeting through a multi-story building.

But hey, there was a first time for everything.
