I cannot stress this enough - F1 is one of the most competitive sports out there and we all know it. While it is a team sport, in the end all that matters to the drivers is WHO gets to the podium. We've all seen what can happen to even the best teammates because of this rivarly, because of this pure, raw desire to be BETTER than the others. To be the ONE on the podium. Winning. Two people can't be on the same place. They can't share the same glory. It never was and never will be possible in this sport. It's not like in football, where the whole team is like one body - winning together and losing together. And, therefore, having photos with different people from the team CELEBRATING makes sense. Because without other players, THIS ONE person would never win the match. That's why having photos of you with other person or people during this special moment is nothing surprising.

However, in F1 it's just you. You have to drive and you have to win.

So when the moment finally comes, after years and years of trying and doing your best, and finally you get your first podium - yes, it's amazing to celebrate this with your team. It's a humble gesture and it shows that you remember about the team effort. Your mechanics and engineers. Your whole team. Right? Because only they help you in the end.

And there we have Carlos. Having his first podium. And out of all the options he decides: I will forever remember the first big moment in my career as me and Lando.

Lando was there for me. He didn't get the podium that day, but he was there for me. In one of the most competitive sports. He should be disappointed or salty for not being on the podium, that's how we get, all of us. We have that in our blood, this desire to win. But there he is, pushing that feeling away from him and being there for me. Right next to me.

And Carlos really thought: this is what I choose to remember from that day. Lando's warm smile and him spraying me with champagne. Him making sure I get my first podium experience because I didn't get to share it with other drivers earlier. Him singing and celebrating and staying to the end. His bright, bright eyes, looking at me, just at me. Focusing on me.

This is the moment I choose to remember forever. It's not about me getting my first podium, no.

It's about me and Lando sharing this moment.

cannot wait for season 3 of drive to survive to have a little section dedicated to showing how scared of covid the drivers were and the lengths they went to try and stop themselves getting it and then to see that little black screen at the end appear telling us that at least 3 of them went to dubai and got it after the season was over ♡
