Grimm plans to help Leo plant starflowers at the Sahnt estate because they are too hardy to kill. But… we romantics know flower language is essential for silently communicating one’s deeper feelings via a flower’s symbolic meaning. So let’s explore the potential significance behind the starflower.

There are a few different species of flowers dubbed ‘starflower’, each with their own symbolism:

Lysimachia borealis (Starflower) is the flower for ‘one who seeks peace or tranquility’.

Pentas lanceolata (Egyptian starflower) represents harmony and chaos. It is associated with bounty, good luck, and balance.

Trientalis latifolia (Pacific starflower) ‘embodies wellness and the ability to thrive against the odds’ as well as beauty, grace, prosperity, and growth.

Ornithogalum arabicum (Arabian starflower) represents hope, and the continuation of happiness and love.

All of these specific meanings for the starflower reveals Grimm’s deeper affections. After he’s finished with the Fount, Leo’s dream is to go home. I think it's no coincidence that Grimm chose a flower acutely associated with peace and wellness. And the Starflower being a token of love is such a beautiful gesture.
