So life threw me yet another curve.

So my company was downsizing and guess who got laid off. Yes, me. My former supervisor apologized because she knew a disabled single mother with two disabled kids that is struggling with getting proper child support didn’t need this. But they did it anyway. They’re not sorry. So I’m going through interviews already, I just got laid off this Friday. So hopefully this is temporary so if you all have some dough to spare, please think of the kids and I. I hate doing this but as a parent, I’d do anything to make sure the kids got a roof over their head and food in their bellies.

'What happened to this girl is not right': Unanswered questions about woman who froze to death in an alley

Friends say Rudy Kishayinew was asked to leave hospital hours before she died

Family and friends say they have unanswered questions about a 22 year-old Saskatoon woman who froze to death on New Year’s Eve after they say she was asked to leave the hospital.

When Rudy Lynn Kishayinew froze to death behind a needle exchange, she was not wearing a jacket or shoes, her sister Crystal Kishayinew says.

A number of friends and acquaintances have told CBC Kishayinew and a girlfriend were both asked to leave St. Paul’s Hospital hours before the young woman’s body was discovered.

Environment Canada’s records show the temperature dipped to –20 C that night, with the wind chill making it feel like –33.

“They were looking for a place to get warm,” when they went to the hospital said Loretta Wilson, an elder from the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, who first met Kishayinew at the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s health centre on 20th Street West.

Wilson said the night Kishayinew died, she didn’t “have a place to go.”

“She was just coming in there to warm up, to stay alive,” said Wilson.

“UPDATE: Medics confirm 6 people bit by dogs total, and 12 people treated for pepper spray. —Up to 30 people were sprayed, and the 12 confirmed were treated. Just talked to a guy with video who was there and says many were “misted” by the spray too. No signs posted- “Attack dogs at work” and illegal to use dogs on land not owned by Dakota Access. No ID or Verbal warnings. A Young girl bit by a dog, in hospital now, and another Pregnant woman bit on the shoulder. Everyone on front line pepper sprayed, including woman and children.“

The saga continues

Well I am having to short sell my house. Which is fine. I mean I had planned on selling it and moving anyway, just thought it would be when I had money saved. So now this means I have to get an apartment as soon as possible. I am not financially stable enough to even put a deposit down yet but I don’t have the time to save up for it either. It’s mainly a time issue. There’s a good apartment down the street that’s finally open for rent and it’s still in the area my kids go to school in. It is all very last minute and has me extremely stressed out because I have to find a place for me and my kids at such a short notice. I work part time and do bead orders to make up for the rest as much as I can. I have another job but its just not making much right now and I am hoping it picks up soon, I just started it. I guess if anyone can help out, just even with me being able to get enough together for the deposit, I’d be very grateful. Its been a bad couple of years and I’m slowly getting back on my feet but it seems like when I am almost ok something else kicks my feet out from under me.

Anyone who knows me knows how hard I’ve been struggling and also how hard it is for me to make this post because I have an online stalker who just loves seeing me struggle.

'It's like Indigenous people are a joke,' First Nations women react to KWG Resources sexy mining video

First Nations women draw link between 'sex sells' attitude and missing, murdered Indigenous women

A promotional video for a mining company featuring young women in bikini tops is “disgusting” and has one expert calling on government to explore what she says is a link between mining companies and sexual violence against Indigenous women.

The one-minute video appears on KWG Resources Youtube channel and shows two scantily-clad women talking about the Ring of Fire mining project in part of northern Ontario where much of the land is claimed by First Nations.

In one scene, a woman identified only as Ashley sits on a swing and says: “First Nations is [sic] interested in sharing in the resources of Ontario’s Ring of Fire.”

‘Sex sells’: Mining company defends use of bikini video to promote Ontario’s Ring of Fire

“The video is a very damning statement about KWG Resources to sexualize women to promote mining for profit on Indigenous lands,” said Pamela Palmater, the Chair of Indigenous Governance at Ryerson University. “It represents all that is really sick about the mining industry.”

Two mining industry groups have condemned the KWG video calling it “absurd” and “tasteless.”
