thinking about how the cult in yellowjackets functions the same way as the cult in midsommar. as i watch fans debate whether or not something supernatural is at play within the wilderness, i can't help but think of the people who cheered dani on as christian burned. i don't believe anything supernatural is happening to the yellowjackets. i believe we are indoctrinated into the cult as well, questioning ourselves the dual realities and becoming swept up in their narrative. we are the unreliable narrators, we are following lottie as we question logic.

Dear May,

i'm seeing people losing hope for palestine i'm begging you seriously please don't. the death toll is high but there are still people alive, there are still journalists risking everything to make sure the world sees what is happening. please continue protesting if you have the option to, keep demanding for a ceasefire and keep talking about palestinians both alive and dead. you have to keep going until the very end or else you really did fail them.
Reminder that before all this, the population of Gaza was approximately 2,300,000. The current death toll is around 15,500 - possibly as many as 20,000. That's horrific, yes. But that means that there are still at least 2,280,000 gazans alive and kicking. There are 2.28 million people who would benefit from a permanent ceasefire; for an end to Israeli hostility; for increased aid and reliable access to food and water. There are still 2.28 million people that Israel has not managed to kill.
So keep making noise. Do whatever you can to help those 2.28 million living people, and to remember and honour the 15,000-20,000 lives that have been taken. Giving up on Gaza helps no one but Israel.
We don’t GET to give up hope when we are safe and housed and fed and warm - we need to keep fighting and speaking out and advocating for the lives of the millions of living Gazans (and protecting the memory of the thousands lost) and the Palestinian culture that Isreal is trying so hard to destroy
We can’t let them keep getting away with the crimes that they have been getting away with for too many years - we can’t be silent now, we can’t give up

Greek Gods Incorrect Quotes 6
Apollo: Did you really have to stab him?
Ares: You weren't there. You didn't hear what he said to me.
Apollo: What did he say?
Ares: "What are you going to do, stab me?"
Artemis: Fair.
The Myth of Syceus.
Hi everyone! Fun fact about me, I love Greek Mythology. So much so that I based my username on one of my favourite ever myths: The Myth of Syceus. So, I thought, I'd share the myth on here.
Syceus was a child of Gaia as well as a Gigante. Gigantes were simply men of great strength (despite being oftentimes referred to as ‘giants’) and were troublesome in nature. Therefore, they were quick to take up arms against the Olympians when persuaded by Gaia. Hence begins the war between the Gigantes and Zeus (as well as his allies). The Gigantes proved to be a threat to the rule of Zeus, whose victory was not assured until Hercules joined the war. When the odds were favourable to Zeus, Syceus ended up fleeing to Cilicia. To prevent her son from dying at the mercy of Zeus, Gaia hid Syceus in her bosom and turned him into a fig tree.
This paragraph is actually just an excerpt from my way-too-long google slides presentation on everyone who got turned into a plant in Greek Mythology. Anyway, despite there not being much to the myth itself, there are a number for reasons why I love it.
Firstly, figs are fucking awesome. They look cool, they taste good, fig trees are incredible and have amazing significance in everything ever.
Secondly, circling back to fig tree significance, fig trees are rich in historical significance, they have been associated with success and wisdom for thousands of years. In ancient Greece, fig trees were considered an honour to bestow upon winners of competitions. Fig trees also been seen to shield humans from evil spirits. In Greek mythology, Odysseus was spared from the lethal whirlpool formed by the sea monster Charybdis by the branches of a single fig tree.
So YEAH, I know this one's a little different and a little shorter than my usual posts but I just love Greek Myths and will take absolutely any opportunity to talk about them. And, as a plus, it's a backstory on my username. Honestly, while fact-checking the fig tree significance stuff, I ran into a bunch of really interesting things that I didn't know about which may or may not lead to a sort of extension post to this one where I just talk about fig trees. Time will tell, I suppose.
