⏬The reference material I used while drawing this episode
The Armour of Reason was worn by the Primarch Roboute Guilliman and was known in the legends of his Legion as the ever-reforged armour. It was said that Guilliman himself had this set of artificer power armour remade and adapted countless times if ever a flaw or weakness was discovered in battle. At various times the artisanship of both Mars and his fellow Primarchs Vulkan and Perturabo influenced its design, before the Horus Heresy sundered the Imperium.
By the way, I personally prefer Roboute's 30k armor.🤭

I finished the last constellation tonight. All 40 of them are now done! Went through and double checked and every stitch is in place for them and all the beads are in place. Which just leaves the milky way part to do.
Started stitching the Milky Way in. Slowly making progress on it as I am hiding the travelling thread so the back will look nice.
Looks pretty cool and keeps the readability of the other stitches. Very happy with it. Just a thousand or so to do. As they are in a grid roughly every centimetre apart.
Update on the constellation quilt. I have gotten the last Milky Way stitch done now. Which means the quilting part of this project is done. My next step will be to baste the edges down, remove the pattern, trim the quilt square, and lastly attach the binding.
Progress on the constellation quilt has come along quite a lot now. Finished the binding on the quilt over the weekend. I prefer to machine stitch the binding to the front then hand stitch the back side. It gives such a nice finish to the quilt. Took the time to measure it also and it ended up being 72" by 72" (183cm by 183cm).
With that done I could finally start removing the pattern. Which is taking both less time and more time that I thought it would. As it rips really easily so that goes fast, but the tiny corners and removing it under the beads is slow. You can now see the difference in the glow effect with it against the dark front of the quilt instead of the pattern.
Behold the stars of the constellations of the northern sky! I love how this quilt has turned out. It was a lot of fun to work on and the effect is so cool in person. Overall I would estimate it took about 90-100 hours to complete. Give or take 10 hours if you want to count the time I spent custom dying the fabric.
I made sure to get a nice photo of it in daylight. For once I also remembered to get a quilt label on it. The back really shows the difference in readability of the quilting on the ice dyed fabric compared to the solid front. Thank you everyone that has followed this. I am glad you all found joy in it.
Those that are interested, here is the pattern I used by Haptic Lab. I made the large northern hemisphere version, and plan to make the matching southern hemisphere one next year. I also got your back for the less crafty people. Haptic Lab sells finished quilts in this pattern, both as a large quilt and a small one.

Lion El’Jonson - Dark Angels Beach Recon Day
The Lion takes the Dark Angels to a secluded beach because it has limited access points, defensible dunes, clear sightlines and nearby caves suitable for ‘shade’ His sons arrive in black beach robes and immediately begin establishing perimeter security.
Someone brings a volleyball net and the Lion studies it. Beach volleyball becomes a tactical exercise involving silent hand signals, feints, formations, and at least one suspiciously aggressive spike.
The Dark Angels build sand fortresses with hidden tunnels, a small child accidentally wanders near one and five astartes appear from beneath the sand like armored hermit crabs. One Dark Angel secretly collected seashells, he will take this secret to the grave.
Fulgrim - Emperor’s Children Luxury Pool Resort Day
Fulgrim takes the Emperor’s Children to a private luxury pool resort with marble loungers, chilled fruit, harp music and water so clear it looks like it has been personally intimidated into perfection. His sons arrive in coordinated swimwear, even their towels match the legion colors.
Fulgrim gives a speech about leisure as an art form then spends forty minutes adjusting everyone’s posture on the loungers. The swimming competition becomes unbearable, by sunset the Emperor’s Children have invented synchronized swimming as a military doctrine. They also tip the pool staff extremely well but in a way that feels like being evaluated.
Perturabo - Iron Warriors Amusement Park Day
Perturabo takes the Iron Warriors to an amusement park because someone said they were fun and he intends to identify why. He spends the first hour criticizing the ride queue design and his sons take notes. Roller coasters interest him briefly because they are engineering under stress until he starts calculating failure points.
The Iron Warriors do not enjoy the haunted house, they evaluate it. The ring toss game is rigged and Perturabo notices, he wins every prize through mathematics, spite and controlled wrist rotation.
When the employee says one prize per customer Perturabo says: “show me the posted regulation.” By evening the Iron Warriors have seized the giant plush bear economy. Perturabo claims he hated the day but he is holding three funnel cakes and a blueprint for a better roller coaster.
Jaghatai Khan - White Scars Water Park Day
Jaghatai takes the White Scars to a water park and it lasts minutes… not the day but the park’s dignity. The White Scars immediately identify the fastest water slides, the best racing lanes, the least supervised lazy river entry points and every possible way to turn floating tubes into competitive vehicles.
The White Scars do not stand in line, they flow, somehow they never cut but they are always at the front. The wave pool becomes a cavalry maneuver, one lifeguard blows a whistle. They salute respectfully while going backward at unsafe speed.
By noon the park has created a new rule: NO POWER-DRIFTING INNER TUBES. Jaghatai frames the sign and his sons declare it a trophy.
Russ - Space Wolves Lake BBQ Day
Russ takes the Space Wolves to a lake. There is swimming, shouting, grilling, wrestling, questionable diving contests and a bonfire that begins before sunset because Russ says fire shouldn’t wait for permission. The Space Wolves bring enough meat to frighten local wildlife, the grill is less a cooking station and more a battlefield altar. Russ personally supervises the barbecue.
His sons play catch with a log. Someone invents lake rugby, the rules are unclear, violent, and loudly disputed. A normal family nearby slowly moves their picnic farther away and Russ notices and sends them a perfectly grilled steak as tribute.
By nightfall, everyone is sunburned except the sons who were smart enough to listen to Sanguinius about sunscreen. Russ insists he doesn’t sun burn but his nose is bright red.
Dorn - Imperial Fists Beach Engineering Day
Dorn takes the Imperial Fists to the beach and within eight minutes they have turned a fun summer day into coastal defense infrastructure.
Sandcastle contest? No. Sand fortress competition. There are bastions, curtain walls, trenches, reinforced wet sand foundations, drainage channels and a fully functional moat using tidal flow.Nearby children stare at their sad buckets and Dorn sees this and immediately starts a workshop. The children love him, the parents are confused but grateful.
The Imperial Fists also handle sunscreen with discipline, every marine applies it properly, Dorn has a timer. A volleyball game occurs, but nobody calls it volleyball, they call it ‘projectile denial and return.’
Konrad Curze - Night Lords Carnival Day
The Night Lords arrive in black coats and look like a murder documentary crew. The carnival workers are nervous, the children are fascinated.
Curze buys roasted chestnuts, this is somehow deeply upsetting. A Night Lord asks if he likes them. “They are warm things broken open.” Curze replies. Nobody knows how to respond. They visit the maze and vanish into it, the staff panic. Visitors begin emerging from the maze much faster than expected, pale and shaking, saying: “Something whispered from the walls.”
At the end Curze and his sons sit on a ferris wheel above the lights and for once the dark below looks almost gentle. Konrad points at a man below. “He is cheating at ring toss” he says. The peace ends.
Sanguinius - Blood Angels Picnic Day
Sanguinius takes the Blood Angels to a sunlit meadow by a lake. There are picnic blankets, fruit, pastries, music, sketchbooks, swimming, poetry and perfectly packed baskets. His sons arrive trying to be dignified and end up visibly happy within twenty minutes. This embarrasses them, Sanguinius notices and pretends not to.
There is a painting session, the Blood Angels say they are merely studying form…they are doing watercolor flowers. One marine gets emotional over a butterfly landing on his gauntlet.
“Let it rest, it trusts you.” Sanguinius says. The marine never recovers.
Then someone starts a friendly swimming race and the Blood Angels become terrifyingly competitive, beautiful aquatic missiles. Sanguinius thanks them for the day and his sons act like they are fine. They are not fine. Half of them keep pressed flowers from the picnic.
Ferrus - Iron Hands Practical Workshop Day
Ferrus doesn’t understand the concept of a fun day. He hears ‘outdoor group activity’ so he takes the Iron Hands to an open air forge and machine fair. There are food trucks, tool demonstrations, welding displays, engine rebuild stalls and a contest to see who can assemble a mechanical pump fastest.
The Iron Hands have the time of their lives which means they mostly stand silently around machines judging them. Ferrus buys everyone lemonade because Vulkan told him hydration matters.
The Iron Hands enter the pump assembly contest and win so hard the organizers invent a professional category just to remove them.
Angron - World Eaters Paintball Day
Angron takes the World Eaters paintballing. The facility staff explain the rules: No headshots. No close range firing. Raise your hand when eliminated. Respect the boundary markers. The World Eaters listen technically. The first match lasts eleven seconds, the opposing team walks off the field looking like they were attacked by a red weather system.
Angron doesn’t play at first, he says it is childish until one paintball hits his shoulder and he decides to join. The World Eaters have fun, actual fun, terrifying bruising loud fun. A young marine laughs so hard he almost drops his marker. Angron hears it, doesn’t smile but doesn’t stop it either.
By the end, the staff have banned them from competitive play and offered them a private field for everyone’s safety. Best summer day they have ever had.
Guilliman - Ultramarines Civic Festival Day
Guilliman takes the Ultramarines to a summer civic festival. There are food stalls, music, public games, volunteer booths, historical displays and community awards. His sons are suspiciously prepared.
“Enjoy yourselves” Guilliman says.
The Ultramarines enjoy themselves efficiently. They win the trivia contest, organize the lost and found, improve foot traffic near the lemonade stand and help set up chairs for the evening concert. Guilliman gives a short speech about community that becomes a long speech.
A small child asks him to judge the pie contest and Guilliman takes this duty with frightening seriousness.
“Texture, filling distribution, crust integrity, and civic spirit will be considered.”
The blueberry pie wins.
Mortarion - Death Guard Swamp Nature Day
Mortarion the Death Guard on a swamp hike, everyone else thinks this is punishment but the Death Guard think it is peaceful. There are mosquitoes, mud, humidity, fungus, frogs, stagnant water and plants that smell like old medicine.
Mortarion is visibly more relaxed, which means his shoulders are only 80% hostile. He gives an excellent lecture on wetland ecosystems, rot cycles and disease vectors. His sons listen reverently.
One marine finds a mushroom and Mortarion inspects it.
“Useful.” Mortarion says. This is high praise.
They stop for lunch on a log, the sons love it. The Death Guard record this as a perfect outing.
Magnus the Red - Thousand Sons Museum and Planetarium Day
Magnus takes the Thousand Sons to a museum and planetarium. It was supposed to be a light educational outing but that’s impossible. They spend 45 minutes in the first exhibit because Magnus keeps correcting plaques. His sons are enchanted…the museum staff are suffering.
In the planetarium Magnus becomes emotionally unbearable. The stars appear overhead and the narration begins, he starts giving a better lecture. The audience applauds but the staff beg him not to touch the projector… He touches the projector anyway and the dome briefly displays constellations no human civilization has recorded yet.
The Thousand Sons buy matching museum notebooks, by the end of the day the gift shop has sold out of astronomy posters and forbidden looking bookmarks.
Horus Lupercal - Luna Wolves Beach Sports Day
Horus takes the Luna Wolves to the beach and somehow makes the entire coastline love him. He organizes beach sports, swimming, grilled food, team games, storytelling and a sunset gathering.Nothing feels forced, everyone feels included, that is how you know it is Horus.
He divides the teams so old rivalries turn into friendly competition, he gives little pep talks before volleyball matches and remembers which marine prefers shade, which one loves swimming, which one needs to be coaxed into relaxing. His sons adore him, strangers adore him, the ice cream vendor gives him free cones. Horus insists everyone thank the vendor by name.
By sunset, his sons are sitting around a fire, laughing, shoulder to shoulder, utterly convinced they are the most beloved legion in creation.
Lorgar - Word Bearers Camp Day
It is wholesome for approximately six minutes until Lorgar says: “Let us each share what this day teaches us about fellowship.” The chaplains start crying, the summer camp counselors are overwhelmed.
There are canoe races but Lorgar turns them into metaphors. There are friendship bracelets but they become devotional tokens. There is a bonfire but by nightfall it is absolutely a ritual space.
“I understand now.” One marine says as he roasts a marshmallow.
Lorgar writes a hymn about sunscreen and it’s unfortunately good. The Word Bearers have a deeply meaningful day.
Vulkan - Salamanders Community Barbecue Day
Vulkan takes the Salamanders to a neighborhood summer barbecue and repair fair. There is grilled food, music, children playing, picnic tables, games, and a row of broken bikes, chairs, toys, and appliances waiting to be fixed. The Salamanders immediately adopt the whole community.
They grill, repair, teach kids how to safely use tools, help elderly people carry chairs and make sure everyone eats. Vulkan personally mans the grill and his burgers are perfect. His vegetable skewers are perfect and his slightly spicy sauce is a religious experience. One Salamander wins the sack race and apologizes for being too enthusiastic.
Vulkan gives out handmade toys to children. The Salamanders end the day sunburned, exhausted, adored and carrying twenty thank you cards.
Corvus Corax - Raven Guard Midnight Beach Cleanup
Corvus refuses crowded summer fun so he takes the Raven Guard to a beach cleanup at dawn and a quiet night picnic later. At first his sons think this is duty until they realize it’s peaceful.
They walk the shore collecting trash, freeing tangled seaweed from plastic, cutting fishing line, and watching the sunrise through the mist. Corvus says little, his sons understand anyway. Later they return with simple food, black coffee, blankets and a small fire hidden from the wind. There are no speeches or forced bonding, just quiet presence. One marine points out a constellation, another tells a dry joke, someone almost laughs. Corvus looks away so they can enjoy it without feeling observed.
“Good work.” Corvus says at the end. That is the whole review. The Raven Guard treasure it like poetry.
Alpharius Omegon - Alpha Legion Mystery Fun Day
Alpharius tells his sons they are going to a fun activity and then gives each squad a different address.One goes to a beach, another to a water park, one goes to a bowling alley and another goes to a suspicious warehouse labeled Fun Day.
Every group receives instructions in sealed envelopes. Some instructions are games, some are riddles, others are false. At the end all squads converge at a public park where there is a picnic waiting. The sandwiches are labeled: ham, not ham, omegon and ‘don’t trust the lemonade’. The lemonade is fine but the potato salad is not.
The Alpha Legion has an excellent time because confusion is enrichment.
“Lord, what was the objective?” A marine asks.
“You tell me.” Alpharius replies.
Summer fun achieved.
Possibly.
The Primarchs’ spouse getting kidnapped got me thinking.
How do you think the Primarchs would react if they come to rescue their spouse, finding said spouse halfway through making their escape?
Here we go!
Lion El’Jonson
Yes, this is his chance to be your knight in shining armor, but you are not a damsel in distress yourself. Lion has trained you before, and you always knew that kidnapping could be a possibility. So you rely on the information and instincts he instilled in you to make your way out of the cage. You will find your knight, and he will be dashing, fierce, and protective. And the villains will lose their heads by the end of the day.
Fulgrim
Honestly, he is a little bit disappointed. He had already imagined a perfect rescue in his head, planned it out and dispersed his sons, and now here you are, running down the corridor, clutching some sort of weapon in your hand, with others running behind you. Yes, he will still be very dashing in saving you, but he did not plan for this specific thing. Ah well, there will be other attempts to showcase himself to you. Right now, the only thing that matters is that you are safe and back in his arms.
Perturabo
He is actually impressed. Yes, he would never choose some weakling to be his partner, but still, you were put in a situation with no familiar tools and without much preparation. And yet you managed to make the best of it. So be it. You are back in his arms, and he even begrudgingly tells you that he was, in fact, impressed by your attempts. Your kidnappers, however, will be put to an unspeakable death. Please make no mistake of that.
Jaghatai Khan
Well, aren’t you a lively one? Here he is, with all his great speed and skill, meeting you halfway as you make your escape, and honestly, he is surprised. He knows that you are a resourceful one, but he is still surprised with how well you managed to do in this situation. Now, do you want to stay and have some fun, or should he speed you away? Either one is fine with him.
Leman Russ
He is ecstatic. Of course you are breaking out yourself. Those fools probably regretted the fact that they tried to kidnap you from the very start. You are not one to go down without a fight, and you are the one fighting your way out of whatever place you are thrown into. Yes, he is here too, but now, seeing you dispatching all of those goons? Yeah, he is more in love than ever.
Rogal Dorn
Dorn put his mind to good use. By pure luck, he knows where they are going to hold you. So he analyzes the structure, looking for the most vulnerable places he can strike, but also for the places where you can make your way out. He kind of expects you to do so, truth be told. You are an escape artist. So he divides and conquers. Half will attack weak points, half will search through the corridors that you likely used. And, well, let’s say the plan did pay off.
Konrad Curze
He is glad to see that you are relatively unharmed and making your way out of here, but he is still pissed that someone decided to take a swing at you. So they will soon know a world of pain from which there is no escape until you, actually you, will do it. Because for this part, Konrad is keen on letting you play the executioner.
Sanguinius
He is aflutter with worry, but he has his sight to tell him exactly where to find you. What his side does not tell him is that you will be beating the ever-living shit out of someone the moment he arrives. Oh well, at least he has found you and the rescue can continue. He will, however, take you away from this place because he does not trust the other future that can unfold in the heat of battle.
Ferrus Manus
He is silent at first watching the way you stand over your kidnapper with that makeshift weapon in your hand. He does not speak, but something in his posture shifts, less tension, more weight. He had come ready to break bones, to tear through the place with his sons, but now he sees you. You are alive. His sons will finish the rest. He will not let you stain yourself further. But he will remember this. He will remember that you are his.
Angron
The fact that someone managed to kidnap you and could possibly force you into something you do not want to do is very traumatic for Angron. So he is rage, but rage controlled. And he breathes a sigh of actual relief. Then he sees you standing atop your kidnapper with some sort of makeshift weapon. You are found. All that remains is to fight your way out of here. And trust me, he and his sons are prepared.
Roboute Guilliman
You see, this is why he does all of those preparations, and they paid off. Yes, it is impossible to prepare for every type of situation, but he still makes sure that you have the basics and that they were available to you. He is here to help, but he is secretly very proud that his survival plan 57 paid off because he recognized the moves that you pulled.
Mortarion
He arrives in the dark, cloak pulled tight, breath slow, eyes already burning with the promise of death. He had come to drag you out, to carry you from the place like a corpse, to make sure the kidnappers never breathed again. But then he sees you. Standing. Unbroken. Weapon in hand. Blood on your boots. The rage in him shifts, turns inward, and he lets you finish what you have started. He will not take you from the fight. The rest will die. He will not let them live.
Magnus the Red
He sees it all before he arrives. Threads of fate, every movement, every choice, every path you could take. He had come ready to pull you from the cage, to weave you out of the trap with his power, to make sure the kidnappers never touched you again. But then he finds you. Standing. Alive. Mostly unharmed. Oh well, sometimes physical approach does beat a psychic one.
Horus Lupercal
Who dared? Who bloody dared kidnap a partner of a Warmaster? He brings his entire fleet to the flimsy place they decided to hold you and leads the rescue mission personally. And what greets him is the sight of you bashing someone’s head in as you are obviously making your way out of captivity. Stars above and so below, you are a sight to behold. He has never been more proud of you than in this very moment. Now come, beloved, be by his side while the extermination order is issued.
Lorgar Aurelian
His dearest one, are you all right? Worry not, your savior is here. He has come to deliver you from the clutches of these evil kidnappers and to bestow justice upon them. Lorgar is so worried that he does not even notice for the first few moments that you are, in fact, making your way out. He is very much concerned and would like to take you away from the fight while others dispense justice.
Vulkan
Vulkan is a drake enraged that someone dared to steal the greatest treasure from his hoard. He arrives ready to burn and maim, only to find that you are almost on your way to freedom. It softens him instantly. You are back in his arms, and the fire that was set to destroy will now protect you, not the boss who has harmed you.
Corvus Corax
He prefers to move in stealthy tandem with his sons, aiming to extract you without raising too much fuss. But apparently you have other plans, because once he arrives, everything is on fire, someone is screaming, and you are making your way down a hole, bloodied but mostly unharmed. Oh well, no stealth, but at least you are found, and it looks like you had some fun.
Alpharius Omegon
They get to infiltration straight away. You will be extracted without too much fuss, so when one of them happens upon you in disguise and you try to deliver a kick in order to break through, they just laugh, actually breaking character. My, my, aren’t you spirited. But now, let’s go. First you will be extracted, then they will see what else can be squeezed out of this place before it is inevitably destroyed.

This particular bit of the trailer really caught my attention. I've briefly spoken before about how noticeable the influence of daoism seems in kingdom hearts. This bit very clearly echoes the beginning of the second chapter of the dao de jing.
(Two translations)
I think this also plays into the whole light against dark narrative that we've seen play out. For example with Xehanort and Eraqus. (Their whole colour palette is a yin yang reference for crying out loud.)
The yin yang as a symbol comes from daoism. As can be seen from this bit of text, two opposites define, flow into, and cannot exist without the other. No dark without light, no silence without sound, there's only an after because there's a before. But you cannot seperate them.
And seen here when it comes to Oathkeeper and Oblivion. The teeth of the keyblades are even stylized versions of the kanji for light and dark. (And the light one also being the number 7 in scala numbers, because 7 lights.)
We've seen that pure light is unsustainable as is the case with pure dark. They exist in tandem. The fairy godmother said as much.
The push to center light and fight to eradicate darkness only serves to destabilise the balance and have the equal and opposite reaction.
While I'm using this specific scene for this point, it's been said again and again. Usually in reference to darkside. And as we can see from the trailer, it's only gotten worse over time.
When we look at dark road and at what happened between terra and eraqus it shows us that the fear of darkness, rather than accepting it as a part of life, is the very thing that usually brings harm.
Mickey changed his views because he saw that it was possible with Riku.
Sora's currently suffering from this disbalance as we've seen from anti/rage form and the massive darkside.
Now with Riku following his dreams to find Sora, I hope that he'll be able to bring that balance.
I think it'd be neat if over the course of the game/his interactions with Sora (and others but mainly Sora) we see Xehanort lose the sort of calm and measured composure he has as Master Xehanort and sort of go back to acting more genuinely like he did in Dark Road. Like, in Dark Road sure YX is a bit stone-faced at times but that's not an act he's putting on or anything he's just not as expressive or adept at social interaction as the others. We see DR-era YX laugh, smile, roll his eyes, cry, mourn, etc. It is only in later versions of Xehanort that he seems to shove all of that back in favor of a more measured/manipulative approach- the main emotions he shows being intentionally played up (to manipulate Terra, for example) or when YMX is being a little shit and taunting Sora. This probably all stems back to what happened in Dark Road- maybe seeing how Baldr became overwhelmed by all the emotions he was feeling/picking up made Xehanort want to completely push all of that away? I don't know, it's been a while since I've watched through DR (or any other cutscenes haha, this is just from memory).
So I think it'd be nice to see that defense "crack" over the course of a hypothetical redemption arc in quadratum. Like, Sora's able to get a genuine laugh out of him, he gets startled by things, he's visibly unsure of what to say or how to approach situations- things like that.
