Ichor blood was meant to explain what Ichor was, not where it comes from; describe the every day life of the toons after the shutdown and what life was like before the shutdown, and show what led to the shutdown and who the culprits were. As written in my notes, “it is NOT meant to have a destination. It is not meant to find the secrets about Ichor itself. All it is meant to do is explain. The ending will show that nothing has changed. What we already know that’s going on with the ichor extraction *is* the ending.”
Delilah and Arthur were the sole reason shit went south in general. Delilah was why everything got worse while Arthur is the reason nothing got fixed.
Essssssssentially what was the “beginning of the end” for Delilah was making Dandy, AKA the literal first toon. There are two types of ichor, “corrupted” and “pure”. Pure ichor is essentially magical ink. Corrupted ichor, which contains crazy high levels of lead (Pb), is the evil and fucked up version of pure ichor. It’s the reason why Twisteds exist, basically. Delilah made Dandy out of corrupted ichor without knowing, but at the time she realized her mistake, she got far too attached to him. The smart and safest thing to do would to remake him from scratch with the pure ichor and destroy what currently exists, but she would genuinely rather die than do that. Thats her baby :(
So instead, she devised a plan to cure him. It was an impossible task, she knew this, but she was desperate to keep the current Dandy alive. It’s like trying to cure a human by removing all of their blood. Dandy’s existence depends on the high amounts of lead in his system. The plan was futile from the start.
The “beginning of the end” for Arthur was. Honestly? Teaming up with Delilah. Delilah in this AU has had a track record of being debilitatingly obsessive with the projects she indulges in. Her dedication is what has gained her such a reputation of both respect and concern, and Arthur wanted some of the undying passion in his work. GardenView’s work.
The continuous nailing of the coffin with the inevitable doomed-ness that GardenView harbored in regards to Arthur was his astounding ability to turn a blinds eye towards anything that’s a cause for concern. Dandy’s stressed as hell? C’mon, Dandy! Bring a smile and let’s move on! Artists are exhausted because of the amount of work they have to do? Been there, done that! Let’s keep doing what we do best! Delilah is so in depth with her own personal project that’s for Dandy that she ignores her coworkers, employees, the toons, guests, and other beings of life to be able to spend more time to cure her favorite project? Ahhhhh, pat her on the back and congratulate her on the dedication!
Arthur and Delilah is a matchmake in hell.
There’s. Like. A LOT more with them. Like how their existence and relationship changes within different “eras” from the Founding of Gardenview, Pre-Dandy’s World (I named the show Dandy’s World because on god what else would it be named), Early Pre-Shutdown, Millennial Era (1998-2002), and Post-Shutdown. Also their relationship with Dandy and Dyle. But that is. For another day. Maybe. Goodnight.
