After making it through her first classes, Rose found that she had the afternoon to herself, and decided to explore the town a bit. She felt exhausted from the flight yesterday, and crying herself to sleep, but she couldnât stand to go back to her empty dorm and be alone. She passed a few clothes shops, a bookstore, a cutesy ice cream shop, and a couple of important looking law firms. Her eyes settled on a hanging sign with a coffee cup painted on it, and she made a beeline for it. She knew that John wouldnât be sitting there waiting for her, but she wanted to be in a place that was familiar and smelled like him for a moment. The cafe was nice; mostly wooden interior with exposed brick on one wall that held small, potted succulents. After ordering a black coffee, Rose scanned the room for a place to sit; it was mostly filled with hipsters on laptops, or students working on papers, and a small group of old ladies working on crochet. She sighed inwardly, about to leave, when she spotted a flame of hair in the corner and the familiar face of a girl that she wasnât sure sheâd see again. âSacha!â Rose grinned as she drew closer, giving a wave. âHow are you?â
