I hate this show. I genuinely loathe this show for drawing me in and wasting my time. Part of me wants to say, “Well I haven’t watched the season yet, maybe it makes sense in the long run” but FUCK that noise! On what GODDAMN grounds can you possibly justify Allura dying. Despite their best efforts to discredit her, Allura was by FAR the moral and structural backbone of this show, and yet they do this to her. They killed her off. In the final season, which is supposed to mark the complete end of the 10,000 year war her father DIED trying to stop. That her planet was DESTROYED because of. That she herself has FOUGHT in. Allura was supposed to finally receive closure and the writers decided to end her instead. I can’t believe this. I can’t believe I was ever willing to give Voltron the benefit of the doubt.

wow,, i was clearing out a load of my old posts,, and there was so much hope that v-slur wouldn’t turn into the shit show it is now. I spent so so long trying to convince myself that it was good and that the writers had actual plans for Lance and Allura; like before every season the writers would be like ‘ohohoho lance has his big arc now!’ and we would be like!! YES!!! finally!! and then we would be let down again and again and again. 

When you do a reboot and sell it on the idea that it will be diverse and new and exciting, then get a fan base of mostly teens, a lot of whom identify with the characters through gender/sexuality/ethnicity/race then you don’t fucking shovel shit on them. i’m so angry with myself for hoping that there would be proper representation. I’m so angry that I let myself believe that LM and JDS give a fuck about anything other than hollow praise and money.

Lauren Montgomery said in an interview once that the episode where Allura died in 80s Voltron traumatized her when she watched it as a child because she was a strong female character she could look up to, and then rebooted the show, made a Black Princess for little girls to look up to, and then up and killed her off, fully knowing it would be traumatizing to them. that’s not just carelessness on the writers’ part. that is downright purposefully violent and sadistic.

I stopped watching voltron like 3 seasons ago but thEY KILLED ALLURA????????? QUICK QUESTION WHAT THE FUCK

i havent watched the season yet and theres no way in hell im gonna do it on netflix and give them legitimate support so i might not see it for a few days, but this is all i know about it and yeah.

its ugly and shitty and disappointing as fuck but i really couldnt expect anything else from the people who act all proud to have put minority characters in their reboot only to treat them like scum.
