“In spite of so many stubborn lies, at every moment, at every opportunity, the truth comes to light, the truth of life and death, of my solitude and my bond with the world, of my freedom and my servitude, of the insignificance and the sovereign importance of each person and all people.”

Tilopa
There are a number of differing biographies about Tilopa but they agree that though he studied the Vajrayana teachings with many gurus in India, his principle teacher, or root guru, was Vajradhara, the primordial buddha. Thus, the source of the Kagyu lineage is said to be the essence of buddhahood itself, and this understanding of the source of the Kagyu lineage is reflected in many different ways in Kagyu iconography.

How to identify Saptamatrikas SahastraBahu Temple, 8th-century Gwalior Fort, Madhya Pradesh, India
Tourism_teacher wrote : How to identify “Saptamatrikas” in temples? Saptamatrikas are the feminine Energies of Gods like Brahma, Shiva, Kartikeya, Vishnu, Varaha, Indra, Bhairava. They look like their consorts with similar Vahanas and Ayudhas.
One easy way of identifying them is, mostly they are on the door Jambs of the temples. Ayudhas or Vahanas as mentioned in the picture is the way to recognize them individually.
While all the Matrika’s Vahanas are same to their Consorts. Varahi can be identified by Mahisha & Chamundi by Preta. Sometimes Ashtamatrikas are also found in temples – adding Vinayaki or Narasimhi. As per Agamas the Saptamatrikas should be flanked on both sides by Veerabhadra & Ganesha.
The oldest reference of Saptamatrikas can be available from the seals of Indus valley Civilization. Even to this day Saptamatrikas are relevant and worshipped but historians have no guts to declare the religion of Indus valley nor the continuity of the Civilization.
