more and more it's becoming apparent that the only way to save yourself going forward is gonna have to be to radically decouple yourself from the internet. like I don't wanna sound like a weirdo or a luddite but this is killing us and I mean this 100% seriously. every social media place you go to online now is run by bots from every government+special interest entity purposely trying to make people mad at each other and spread disinformation and division. They all have their million reasons for doing so and none of them are good or healthy for your brain. from bots to AI to insane levels of censorship everywhere you look the internet is now unfortunately a very poisoned well.
and like yeah obviously it's okay to still use it for research or harmless entertainment but, uuhh.. we really need this Touch Grass Movement to spread and people away from screens because shit is looking grim folks
This thread is absolutely insane, Apple were running some kind of secret chip fab in a residential neighborhood, not disposing of any of the toxic waste byproduct properly, and didn't notify the feds that it was there. What the fuck were they up to? Like it makes absolutely zero sense. A wafer fab is a massive undertaking, building a secret one? What on earth.
This is so legit. They are completely secretive about what they are doing and try to keep it that way. They keep it secret because it costs waaaaaay more in both air and water treatment and permits for all this kind of work!
Chip fabs are nasty, nasty things, usually operated by people in space suits. They are one of the many reasons why the bay area is covered in superfund sites.
Anyway the worst part of this report? This EPA raid failed. These are supposed to be a surprise, because guess what happens if a company breaking the law finds out the EPA is on the way? They dump all the evidence they can. This EPA raid that resulted in 19 violations wasn't a surprise, the city's hazmat team tipped Apple off. And Apple STILL got caught with 19 violations. So this was way, way worse than that, and Apple was able to hide most of the violations... They just couldn't hide ALL of them.
And unfortunately there's no way Apple will be able to be fined enough for this to matter. They have more money than God.
Literally. It's estimated the Catholic church has about 10-15 billion dollars in assets, counting all the relics and churches and stuff. Apple has something like 70 billion dollars in cash on hand. Not assets, not total net worth, just spare cash sitting around.
(In terms of net worth, they're about on the level of the GDP of France or the UK.)
Well yeah, the fines aren't supposed to matter. The government is a wing of the corporations, the corporations dictate what the state does and not vice-versa.
Why else would the government never fine a corporation any meaningful amount? Do you believe that was through ignorance? That the government simply didn't know how much to levy in fines? No, they absolutely knew, but they are owned and operated by those corporations.
This is the most simple explanation as to why the state never seems to be able to punish in these cases. They're colluding.
Pull the left lever or the right lever, it matters not. The corporate sponsorship of the government is bipartisan.
Probably the most beautiful thing i've ever seen in the flesh
