Allow yourself to be a beginner. No one starts off being excellent.
“Admire as much as you can, most people don’t admire enough.”
— Vincent Van Gogh
Lo único que quería era verte féliz.
Do you ever just listen to an old favorite song really loud in your headphones while staring at a skyline and fall in love with the world and your life and the person you’ve become even if things aren’t actually going well for you at that particular moment? Because it’s surreal and it’s empowering and I think it’s bliss.
As a Syrian teenager who’s currently watching the US strikes unfold from her window at 4 am, watching as the corrupt government of the world’s ‘most powerful country’ uses unbacked, even comical pretexts in order to complete other agendas, I can assure you, we will never, ever fucking forget this. I am completely and utterly disgusted. This is our land you’re bombing, these are our streets, our homes, and this could have been prevented. Syrians are a patriotic bunch. Don’t think for a second our generation of young kids watching your bombs fall from our skies in the middle of the damned night will forget this. I’ll tell you this for a fact, we are seething.
Just please understand, us civilians had no say in this many many of us are watching this just as disgusted as you are
Also, please understand that many soldiers of all forces hate the current people in power as well, but aren’t allowed to talk about it or speak up against them at all. His actions today were illegal and unsanctioned by the rest of our government. The only people who aren’t outraged are the few bigoted, ignorant supporters he has.
I can assure you that we’re aware of the fact that many American soldiers and civilians are against these actions, and it’s a comforting notion to have in mind. We know and are consistently hearing about the population’s disagreement with Trump’s actions. Which is why my frustration and repulsion is solely directed at the american government that’s allowed to make and execute decisions as well as spread false information in order to get what they want. We have to sit and watch them do it.
I hope you are doing alright. I pray for your country.
Doing alright, yeah. We’re known for being tough, we’ll make it. Thank you so much for your concern xx
Syria western-backed Islamist terrorists: *uses chemical weapons* (or not, I mean it could be a complete falsification)
The west: this is outrageous! it’s a war crime! *bombs a city full of civilians to show the world they’re the good guys*
