Hi! Love your blog! In reference to the autoCAD question, I already signed up for an intro to autoCAD class for my senior year in high school - since autoCAD is becoming obsolete, would taking the class still prep me for classes in college? Thanks!
Learning AutoCAD can still teach you the basics of how to draw/document a project. The basic rules of how we represent a door or a wall are still valid but the logic behind it is very different. ACAD is basically like drawing by hand using a computer.
Revit and ArchiCAD create a virtual model (Building Information Model) and you extract plans. elevations and details as needed from this model. There are no lines, for example, in order to build a door you first need to build a wall for the door to be placed in. Is a different way of thinking even if the resulting construction documents are very similar. The BIM model also holds a lot of information that improves construction, scheduling and facilities management once the building is completed.

The White House in Isle of Coll
A new house by WT Architecture in and around the ruins of ‘The White House’ where Boswell and Johnston visited during their tour of the Hebrides in 1773. The spectacularly cleft ruin is to be consolidated and only partly occupied. A glazed living room link connects a wing of domestic accommodation to the west, which is sheltered by a massive dry stone wall that extends into the landscape, extending the ancient patterns of enclosure analysed in the drawing above left.
