of course!
interested? read about us here!
please note: we do not intend by any means to imply that fictives or fictional introjects are âequivalentâ or the same as fictionkin! the network is open to them as well in an attempt to be inclusive, not to offend anyone.
in the meantime, iâve updated all relevant pages and posts to make sure our wording is more inclusive & does not imply that kin & fictives are equivalent, and am working on replacing the initial image so itâs less offensive!
hey! i have DID and i just wanted to let you know that its kind of .. not great to include fictional introjects (fictives) in your kin server. fictives aren't kin, theyre a product of mental illness. its a bit offensive.
i appreciate you writing in! this is something iâm uncertain of because i came to the decision to include that in the kin server because of another friend i have who has DID & is a system; the decision was made in accordance with xyr opinions on the matter, but at the same time, i understand that it isnât right to consider that one person can speak for an entire group.
i didnât mean to imply that fictives were synonymous with fictionkin at all â but as the group is also open to coping kin who are kin because of mental illness as well, it made no sense to me to exclude fictional introjects, who are in a similar (but not at all exact!!) situation. one of the two founders of this network is entirely coping kin and not spiritual kin, and to exclude anyone, part of a system or not, who is or identifies as a fictional character just because theyâre mentally ill doesnât seem right to me.
as i donât have DID myself (although i was tentatively diagnosed with it as a child, but am not currently a system of any sort and no longer consider the diagnosis appropriate), i would prefer to defer to those directly affected by this on the matter; if anyone could weigh in, iâd very much appreciate it!
what course of action would you suggest the network take? (keeping in mind that i refuse to kick out or disallow coping kin just because theyâre a product of mental illness - i donât mean to sound rude by reiterating this, but just to make clear that i wonât pursue that avenue!) is there a way that things could be worded or phrased differently while being more sensitive to this issue, or is the only solution to bar fictives from the group entirely?
