the nights are busy with self loathing
one of my favorite dr:ae kid’s birthday!
I wanted to randomly draw kotoko with himiko and jataro with angie, but i thought it would be cool to do something with other WoH as well.

『✧°♔』 This boy definitely had something about him. The earl wasn’t expecting to be speaking to anyone today, let alone someone his age for longer than a minute… but perhaps something could be gained from this. There wasn’t any harm in playing along for just a little while longer.
“Not particularly, no. I was merely browsing!” Ciel moved his gaze from the scattered tables and bustling crowd back to Nagisa. “What brings you here then?”
Despite the fact that Nagisa was most certainly not naive, he was also not the best judge of character. Still, since his time in Towa City, the rise and fall of the Warriors of Hope, he’s come to learn some things “thanks” to Monaca.
And this boy -- something about his demeanor was resembling her. But what? Maybe it wasn’t important. At least right now, it wasn’t enough to mention.
“...It’s a busy place.” He answers at first shortly, but then continues on. “Sometimes I just look around to see if I’ll come across anyone I know. It’s probably not likely, but I figure it’s worth a shot.”
He wasn’t being entirely truthful. Sure, he was foolish enough to find himself sometimes hoping he would see a familiar face, but right now his words were mostly to try and figure this other boy out. Did he too have others he wished to find as well?
innocencepurity:
“Yes and no, I haven’t heard about anybody looking like my friend” Lillie confessed. She doubts that the boy would do any harm to her if she tells him this. Lillie tried smiling at him to let him know that she was okay but even she wasn’t used to smiling often, not here and not even at Alola. She just had so much in her mind here and there that she didn’t felt like smiling at all.
“Um..Do you live here..?” She decided to change the subject slightly and perhaps she could get to know the boy. If he does live here after all, “My name’s Lillie” She offered a small smile to him as she said that.
“And you thought I looked like him? I don’t think I’ve come across anyone who looks like me.”
He stated as much in some sort of attempt to be helpful. It was unlikely her friend was here and he didn’t want to get her hopes up or anything.
“Not by choice, but... yes, I do.” He answers, with a very resigned sigh. It’s not as if this city was bad by any means, but he still wasn’t comfortable with it. When the girl says her name, he makes a smile back (but him not being used to smiling either is pretty obvious). “I’m Nagisa. I could try to help you out -- well, I’m not sure what I can do, but...”

Two cups sit in between them at the table, one holding the contents of royal milk tea. A hand gently grasps at the handle and brings it up to her face. Her eyes remain directed at her “companion” for the day as she takes a sip before setting it down. How it has come to this, she doesn’t know. But she does know the silence has lingered on for too long, and perhaps it is time to break it. Just a little. She rather enjoys not interacting with people she can’t seem to get ahold of.
“Quiet, aren’t you? Are you afraid of saying something I’ll find distasteful? Don’t worry about that!”
This woman was strange, even by Nagisa’s standards (being around the likes of Jataro and Kotoko and all). She was rather mysterious, and like Celestia’s own problem, he couldn’t get any possible accurate read on her. He wasn’t exactly the best judge of character -- not that he’d ever think that way -- but this was troubling.
“I don’t enjoy meaningless talk.” He says, though maybe part of her was right. “...I do have a question for you, though. Why do you dress like that?”

Stella city was certainly a beautiful place, Lillie can’t deny that. The moment she saw the view from her hotel room, it was as if she was in a dream but a dream that she hopefully can wake up soon. She wanted to be away from her mother as much as possible but this was ridiculous! The fact that they weren’t by her side was enough to make Lillie a nervous rack.
Walking around the lobby of the hotel, she noticed someone and quickly followed them, gently grabbing their shoulder before realizing that she had mistaken the wrong person
“I’m so sorry,” She made a small bow. “I… just thought you see familiar from the back…”
His guard was instantly up once he felt his shoulder grabbed, and he may have turned around a bit too aggressively. He softened his gaze when he noticed it was some girl who looked pretty young, but his shoulders remained tense.
“It’s fine.” he coughed in his hand, slightly embarrassed. “I take it you’re alone here then? Or is that person you thought I was in the city?”
He wanted to offer her some form of assurance, such as telling her that she’d probably find who she thought he was. But he couldn’t since that was be nothing but an empty comfort.

It was then that Hajime realized he should have picked a random age. There was no way Shingetsu could have proven him wrong if he had told him he was twenty-two years old. A lie would have been so much easier and yet the thought of telling a lie hadn’t come to Hajime’s mind until after the fact. He was too honest for his own good.
“Y-You see… It’s just that….. you know………”
Hajime was aware it was not too late to start lying to save himself, but for some reason he couldn’t get the words past his lips. There were times he had been mistaken so in that sense he had lied before. Deliberately lying, however, turned out to be too difficult for him to pull off.
The truth it is.
“…I suffer from memory loss. I’ve forgotten everything about my time at Hope’s Peak Academy and probably some years which came after I graduated as well.” Recalling that not everyone in Stella City was familiar with Hope’s Peak Academy, he continued his explanation. “It’s a high school for highly talented students. I was one of those students.”
...Hope’s Peak Academy? That Hope’s Peak? Nagisa had honestly not expected to hear those words here of all places. Not some sleepy city of sheep, that’s for sure.
He wasn’t even sure what to make of the memory loss. Was that another flimsy lie? Did he think he was some dumb kid? But... what reason would he have to make that up?
“...why did you forget your time at Hope’s Peak?”
There were a lot of questions here. Nagisa couldn’t even sort them out, and certainly not quickly.
“I mean, memory loss? That’s not something that just happens,” he no longer touched that glass of “alcohol” (he was almost finished anyway), concerned only with this sudden matter at hand. “So it must have something to do with that Academy. Right?”

『✧°♔』 The sudden loud voice interrupting his thoughts was enough to snap him out of his daze, head turning to the side to discover the source. A boy… perhaps around his own height and build stood directly in front of him. It took Ciel only a moment to assess the situation before he quickly, with pure instinct, decided to fake a smile and wave his hand.
“My apologies! I was preoccupied by the vendors here.”
There was something strange about this boy that lead Ciel to believe he was most likely a lot smarter than he looked. Quite a relatable feeling. Still, he wouldn’t let his facade waver just yet. The last thing he needed was to find himself in ill company.
“I wasn’t in your way, was I?”
“No, you weren’t in my way. But you could have easily gotten in someone else’s.”
Just as Ciel suspected, Nagisa could tell something was... not what it appeared with Ciel. But what, and if he was even right at all, was still very much a mystery to him.
‘Was there something in particular you wanted to find?”
He asked, wanting to be helpful. Ciel was probably his age, after all, and he hadn’t really run into any other kids here. It was an appreciated sort of company.

『✧°♔』 The bustling streets of Stella City were hardly any different than London during the social seasons. It was definitely something the earl was hoping to avoid while living here in this place but… unfortunately, the circumstances didn’t seem to weigh in his favor.
After walking around for quite some time (and avoiding as many crowds as he could), Ciel found himself in some sort of marketplace. The vendors all seemed to sell a lot of secondhand goods. It was all garbage, no doubt. Still, his eye lingered across the tables, curious as to whether or not there may be a single needle in the haystack.
Having no peripheral vision currently, the boy isn’t exactly watching where he’s going, his mind completely preoccupied.
Normally, Nagisa liked to just hurry through the marketplace. Get what he needed, then get out. There was no real need to stick around, and it got a bit too crowded at times.
Today was different though.
A boy with an eye-patch (why, he wondered) had caught his attention. Rather forcibly, since he almost knocked into him, but managed to step back just in time.
“Hey... you should watch where you’re going.”
He didn’t say it to be rude -- he was a little concerned. Was this boy feeling alright? He certainly didn’t look it, with that seemingly far off gaze in his eye.
pianofinger:
Boy, hehe. Tough crowd. Maybe I should raise a more adult-level question…
“W-well, can you prove they don’t exist…?”
“That’s easy. I’ve never seen them. And I’m guessing you haven’t either.”
He says it rather smugly, as if it was a simple, clear answer that proved his point.
ventribution:
“Demons are often drawn to depravity,” Varus responds. A demon, he’s long identified as, having voluntarily lost his humanity in a frenzy. Though the younger one passed by, the comment alone was enough to warrant a response.
“It would also be wise to keep your thoughts to yourself.”
Well, this was a first. Was he admitting he was a demon? Adults are demons, after all, so it wasn’t strange to him of course... but it was still unexpected.
“I’m already aware of that.” He huffs, crossing his arms. “Why should I? Surely no one would be offended by a child’s words.”
yasashiuso:
{♠} —; “I’m being mischievous, like the trouble child I am!” he said, grinning. The antagonizing look on the kid’s face was enough to tell Ouma he struck many nerves.
{♠} —; “See! Young love! You can’t lie to me, and I certainly wouldn’t believe such a flimsy lie like the one you just told me. It’s ridiculous to think anyone would believe that. Don’t wear your heart out on your sleeve.” he says, sticking his tongue out in a playful manner. He expected to get chastised by the youth, and found it entertaining that such strictness could come from someone younger than him. There were certainly many strange people, weren’t there?
{♠} —; “I’d rather prefer not to forget my youth—ever. Even if I grow up, I won’t abandon myself like I’ve been abandoned … just kidding, of course!” he leans against one of the bookshelves. “Warriors of Hope … ?” the name sounded familiar to him, but he couldn’t help but just shrug it off. “Are you like, a kid in a gang? The more you talk, the more you seem just like me.”
“Are you trying to be confusing?”
Because that was what it was seeming like to him. Who admits something like that? ...Actually, he could think of a few. Kotoko, for one. Probably. But this guy was older -- shouldn’t he be a little more mature?
Aaand shit. It didn’t take long for him to regret having admitted that, but now his embarrassment levels were off the roof.
“I-It wasn’t flimsy! It wasn’t even a complete lie,” he says, clearly unsure of his own words. “You say ‘young love’ like it’s simple. Love doesn’t change, no matter the age.”
“...you shouldn’t lie about something like that.” He was further puzzled by this strange person. This was made even worse when he heard Ouma say he was just like him. That wasn’t true. Not possible -- not that he understood Ouma at all. “And I’m not just like you. We’re not some mischievous gang who makes fools of themselves. We’re working towards an actual cause.”
kusamochilover:
Hajime was relieved to see the kid didn’t seem to notice the lack of alcohol in his drink. Even if his job hadn’t been at stake here he wouldn’t have given a minor an alcoholic drink. He had read somewhere that the brain was only fully developed by age 25, so the longer you waited with drinking the better.
However, Hajime’s moment of peace lasted for a only a moment for Shingetsu took him by surprise with an unexpected question just after to have introduced himself.
“How old-?!” Hajime uttered, sweating profusely as he tried to come up with a good answer.
As much as he hadn’t wanted to admit it, Monokuma had been telling the truth about his memories and that of his classmates’ having been partly wiped. He didn’t remember anything about his time at Hope’s Peak Academy, yet years had passed. The thing was, he just had no idea how many years it had been.
“I’m… in my early twenties….. probably?” It was no more than a guess. Saying he was in his early twenties felt right, but he had no prove of any kind to back it up. Strange to think that the last birthday he could remember was when he had turned 16 years old. “I’m old enough to be working here, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
It really did taste better than he was expecting. He had no problems sipping away at it, and... that was good. But he was also starting to feel a little bit guilty. Masaru would certainly be livid if he knew what he was drinking.
Luckily, Hajime’s response to his question was enough to take his mind off of that.
“...what?”
Such an odd reply. And that reaction -- sweating over something so simple was definitely strange. Was he hiding something? No, Hajime seemed genuine enough.
But how could someone not know their own age? Nagisa would normally be put off by being in the presence of someone who’s (probably) in their early twenties, but now, he was just puzzled. And curious.
“I don’t care about that.” He was a kid drinking alcohol(?). That was the least important thing to him. “How can you not know your age? Are you extremely forgetful, or something?”
kusamochilover:
Was this how all kids were these days? So bratty, persistent and always wanting more– Never mind, Hajime wasn’t one to talk. That was exactly how he had been like as a kid.
Kids were just that, kids. Hajime had always been treated with respect by (most) adults, so he should try to literally and figuratively be the bigger person here.
“Yung Venuz and I are on good terms. I just don’t want to lose my job is all, but I’ll make an exception for you.”
Taking the drink the kid had slid back and gulping it down (delicious), Hajime pondered on what kind of mix drink would suit his guest’s taste. Once he had finished his fresh orange juice, he had thought of the perfect drink.
First, he poured in a decent amount of a golden liquid into a clean glass. What came next was a splash of a dark red liquid, some ice cubes and to finish it off a single araschino cherry on top. Satisfied with the end result, Hajime happily placed the mix drink in front of his guest.
“There you are, your very own mix drink. Enjoy.”
Unknown to the kid, Hajime had just made him Shirley Temple: a non-alcoholic mixed drink made with ginger ale and grenadine. Assuming the kid had never tasted alcohol in his life, he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
“I’m Hinata Hajime and I will be your bartender and host for the rest of the night. What can I call you?”
“Hmph. And you were being so stubborn about it.” he shakes his head. “maybe because you two aren’t on as ‘good terms’ as you think.”
He was using rather... simplified kid’s logic in this case. Being in Towa city and the havoc that was caused there made it difficult for him to re-comprehend rules and the like. That, and part of him still didn’t want to.
Well, that didn’t matter anymore. This bartender did say he would make an exception for him and all.
Once Hajime finishes off the orange juice, Nagisa watches his movements very closely. He watched like a hawk, but... it didn’t exactly matter, considering Nagisa had no clue how to accurately tell what would be alcohol and what wasn’t. This was a bar, so naturally it should be full of alcohol, right? Once he saw some red liquid, he assumed that would be red wine or... something.
Once the mix drink was served, he examined it and took a sniff. “...thank you.” he muttered and then took a quick sip. He actually had been a bit nervous, since he figured alcohol would be disgusting -- adults liked that stuff. So it had to be. But to his surprise, it was actually not that bad. Strange, but he wasn’t going to question it yet. He should just be relieved for the moment.
“My name is Nagisa. Nagisa Shingetsu.” As soon as he finishes his small introduction, he gives Hajime a curious stare. “How old are you?”
He couldn’t tell. Was he an adult? About to be? He seemed oddly honest (he assumed, considering how stubborn he was being about serving him alcohol) so he wasn’t sure what to think.
yasashiuso:
{♠} —; “Oh—you have a very serious face. If you keep it tense like that i’ll stick permanently you know? You’ll look strict forever, and your friends will think you’re constantly lecturing them … how scary, like an adult.”
{♠} —; “Ah, so you’re not in love then? Maybe your heart is fickle or being played around with, who knows? Doesn’t matter I suppose.” he says, grinning and tilting his head left and right over and over.
{♠} —; “Hmmm, you’re not wrong. Some kids like strange things right? Though I don’t think I wasted mine away! With a few close kept friends I was always able to run amok and be happy. You know what that’s like, right? Having a close knit group of people?”
His glare can’t help but worsen, even if he knows that’ll only prove his point.
“Sh-Shut up! I’m not like an adult at all -- you’re being sneaky! Just like an adult!”
“...that’s not true. Maybe I am in l--l--love. But I’m definitely not being played around with.” Yes, his denial was strong. But more than that, he didn’t want to possibly think Ouma was right.
“I’m not surprised, since you seem like the undisciplined type. It would seem you haven’t grown up at all then.” He crosses his arms. He wondered if these close friends he mentioned were as strange as him. “Of course I do. There’s no one who can have as a strong of a bond as we, the Warriors of Hope do.”
pianofinger:
“W-well…”
Better think up something fast.
“Everyone’s got to be a kid at some point, you know? Do you think you’re all grown-up because you don’t believe in things you can’t explain?”
“I’m not trying to be ‘grown-up’.” he sighed. “Like I said, it’s just something made up by adults. There’s nothing that can’t be explained here.”
