"I was only exploring, honest! I didn’t mean to trespass.“
Standing outside what seemed to be an exclusive club, Chara crossed their arms. For such a young kid, they always seemed to be getting themselves into trouble; almost mistakenly walking right into some restricted area now being added to the list. Despite having only been in the city for a short while, it seems exploring a vast city with people they don’t know was– surprisingly or unsurprisingly, they aren’t sure– relatively dangerous if you don’t know where you’re going. Who’d of thought?
Funnily enough, they should know that lesson by now. But sadly, having been Underground for so long, they’ve managed to unlearn a few rules and regulations that people normally follow. At least they were innocent in this case, though whether or not this ‘bouncer’ or whatever believed them was a whole different story. Speaking of said bouncer, they had a strange appearance. It was a tad unnerving, evident from the kid slightly avoiding their gaze.
Sighing, they heave their shoulders, continuing to attempt and explain themself. "I’ve just arrived to this city, so everything’s fairly new to me. You’re… not going to tell your boss or anything, are you?”
He thought this to be an unorthodox duty, but one which he must fulfill nonetheless. Behind him pulsated unusual sounds and rhythm, the clamor of guests and hosts alike adding to the cacophony of whatever festivity took place within. (Then again, this is his first day on the job.)
Varus has not set foot inside during its hours of operation--really, he would rather not. Its volume from outside and with layers of walls separating him from the place he is safeguarding by proxy is enough to keep Varus from wishing to sate any sense of curiosity he may have over where exactly he’s working and what goes on beyond those double doors. He has a vague idea, but that’s about it. Ah well, his duty is to let those with permissions inside and to keep those without, out. If an uproar were to commence, then he is more than equipped to deal with us.
Then again, this monstrous visage alone is enough to deter another from even trying.
He had not expected to happen upon a child of sorts--isn’t this establishment for adults? Where’d this young one come from? Though impossible to tell from blank white eyes, his gaze would shift to meet the child’s form, a look of curiosity washing over him.
So they, too, are new arrivals to this unusually pleasant city.
Tucking the clipboard underneath his arm, Varus kneels down to meet the child’s gaze more on level. Despite all appearances, he speaks with a soft timbre, recognizing for himself that he--still a conscious and self-aware creature--is speaking to someone significantly younger than he.
“This establishment is not meant for children. If you had a destination in mind, I could direct you to it.” Varus paused mid-thought.
“... Perhaps. This city is unfamiliar to me.”
That only answered one portion--the latter portion--of the child’s statements.
“My superiors... will know nothing of this encounter.”
