New Moon in Scorpio
🌙 4th November 2021
Another New Moon is upon us, this month in the sign of Scorpio. As you may know, Scorpio rules over rebirths and transformation. Which makes this New Moon a great opportunity to invite change into our own lives.
The aspect of change is also strengthen by the Moon being opposite Uranus. Uranus is the most unpredictable and erratic planet of them all, so many of us might be experiencing changes that you can hardly prepare for, but the goal here is to just roll with it and make the best you can out of any situation.
If you feel called to start a new project or try something new, go for it! It could definitely bring you abundance and positive opportunities in the future. The main focus with Uranus being involved is to be adaptable in any situation. That is what will bring you success.
This Scorpio New Moon could definitely become quite disruptive and uncomfortable to some. The energy seems unpredictable, but as long as you clearly set your intentions and work with the Universe, you should be just fine:)
✨What to focus on:
Starting a new cycle/hobby/project
Deepening your spiritual connection and gifts
Embracing new beginnings into your life
Leaving the old ways
Not fighting any necessary changes
Okay, now that I’ve had time to sort out some thoughts…
There are two really common questions I see around Witchblr. The first is “I’m new, where do I start?” And of course there are a whole bunch of guides around to help those new witches. Masterlists and recommendations and stuff.
But the other question is this: “I think I might be cursed, what do I do?”
And the answer is almost always the same thing: “You’re probably not, unless you know a witch who hates you.”
That’s it. No links, no recommendations, no suggestions on search terms, nothing. That answer has been really getting on my nerves lately, and I’ve been trying to figure out why.
I keep coming back to my Mythbusters principal. Test it out. Just dismissing someone because you think they probably aren’t solves nothing. With that dismissive answer, we’re operating on the principal that curses only happen when a practicing witch gets angry enough to curse a specific person, and they cannot happen any other way. Are we certain that’s how it works? Are we absolutely certain?
Because in my practice, I’ve been operating on the idea that cursing is easy. That enough focused ill-will directed at a specific target can manifest in a curse. Now, I don’t mean a big scary movie-style curse that’s going to make thirteen generations of your descendants turn into lizards during the full moon. But I do think that much focused energy can ‘stick’ onto someone, and then causes chaos until it’s removed or falls off on its own.
I work in retail. I encounter a lot of people during a work day, and a lot of them end up angry at me for one reason or another. We didn’t have the muffins they wanted, they couldn’t find the bakery bags, their coupon is expired… whatever the reason, people end up mad. And while most of them are smart enough to know that I’m not personally being an asshole to them, some of them absolutely do blame me. They get this victim complex and think that I’m targeting them specifically when I should kiss their feet because they’re a Good Customer ™. And some of these people do walk away muttering to themselves about me on a personal level.
Now, maybe just one of these encounters isn’t enough for a ‘negative energy buildup’ like I’m talking about. Maybe it takes a lot of them before it starts manifesting. Or maybe it’s just one. I don’t know, this isn’t a science. But I do know that after a string of freak happenings (cooler breaks down, equipment breaks, food spoils when it shouldn’t, shipments are delayed, get injured on something that shouldn’t cause injury), I start to wonder… am I cursed?
And rather than dismissing my own thoughts with “nah that’s dumb, there’s no witch cursing me”, I decided to assume that I was, and go ahead with a simple curse breaking spell. And you know what? My day improved instantly.
It doesn’t always work. Some days are legitimately just a bad luck day, or it’s my own bad attitude. And when my curse-breaking spells don’t work, I know it’s just me or it’s just bad luck. But honestly, ever since I started doing a regular ‘light curse breaking’ ritual, my day-to-day life has improved.
Now, I don’t mean I-won-the-lotto and I-got-crowned-Queen-of-Genovia, but I do mean that I’ve noticed a drastic decrease in the little stupid inconveniences that can pile up into One Big Bad Day.
I feel like I’m straying off track here.
The point is, I don’t think this whole “You’re only cursed if you know a witch who’s angry with you” thing is always true. Yeah, some days really are just bad luck, but maybe not. Look into the Evil Eye and see how many cultures believe that one can be cursed accidentally by someone looking at you with envy.
And yeah, if someone comes to us worrying that they’ve been cursed, assuring them that they probably don’t need to freak out is good. But maybe we also start telling them that running water can help dispel a curse and that mirrors can be used to reflect bad intentions away. After all, why do we witch if not to take control of our lives in a chaotic world? Do the curse-breaking spell. Worst case scenario, you’ll waste some salt you could have used on your veggies.
✨Curse Breaker Spell✨
You'll need:
- Apple 🍎
- Onion
- A candle 🕯️
- Knife & Cutting board 🔪
- Strings 🧵
- The will to walk to a far crossroads and i mean FAR. 🚶♀️🚶
Wash the apple, you can use sun water,
or if you have it add some florida water to the regular water
Focus on the apple - DO NOT REMOVE THE STEM.
Hold it tight with both hands, try to connect as much as possible.
Visualize the negativity that has been haunting you passing trough your hands, flowing in the apple.
Take your time and as soon as you're ready remove the stem.
Take the knife and the cutting board and with one move chop the onion in half and then chop the apple (horizontally). Take the top half of the apple and the bottom half of the onion tie them up with the strings, TIGHT.
Do as many loops as you need to make 'em stay still. Leave the other halves at home and light a candle.
Now wear your shoes, take your apple/onion and WALK towards a crossroads far away from your home.
DO NOT LOOK BEHIND. Leave the apple there (bury it if you have the time).
Turn around and go home. Let the candle burn all the way, then throw away both the apple and the onion you have at home.
BOOM, YOU'RE DONE.

SAMHAIN
a beginners guide to the biggest sabbat of the year
WHEN IS IT?
northern hemisphere: 31st October - 1st November
souther hemisphere : May 1st
WHAT IS IT?
Samhain is a witches new year (magically or literally it’s up to you). It’s the biggest sabbat of the year and it honours the dead. It reflects how the winter is finally upon us and the days are going to be getting short and shorter which teaches us thag like day and night, you can’t have life without death. It’s a pagans day of the dead and we use it to show our respect and honour the passed. It’s also the last harvest.
HOW CAN I DECORATE?
black tourmine, jet, brass and clear quartz crystals work well i’ve found
fake or real bones and feathers to show death
pumpkins and autumn leaves
rosemary, mint and apple leaf are good herbs to use in spells
for insence i use mryh, mint, nutmeg , apple and rosemary
white, black and other warm colours work well for candles
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
dress in black and other earth colours as a way to show respect
divination is powerful at this time of the year - scrying is extremely powerful as well as ouija boards
perform powerful spells such as protection, love, banish negative energy and sex spells
bonfire and other fire rituals are powerful to perform
it’s the best day of the year to contact spirits and loved ones
carve pumpkins to scare away any evil spirits
leave offerings to the dead on graves or on your alter and windows
eat foods such as seeds, ginger, alcohol, apples, corn, meat
harvest any of the herbs or food you haven’t already and dry it for winter
HELLENIC PAGANISM:
I’m going to use this to worship Hecate and Hades. Hecate is the goddess of witchcraft and so for me it makes sense to worship her. Hades is the God of the dead (not death) and so i will be praying to him to make sure any wandering spirits find somewhere warm and safe for the night along with getting to all their families who welcome them in and whoever doesn’t have a place to take one in my home. I’ll also be praying to him to protect my loved ones as not all the spirits and dead will be friendly.
SIGILS
A sigil is a type of symbol used in magick. The term has usually referred to a type of pictorial signature of a deity or spirit. In modern usage, especially in the context of chaos magic, sigil refers to a symbolic representation of the practitioner's desired outcome.
basically a form of art in a way in which inscribed or painted symbols are considered to have magical powers
I personally don't fully burn them to activate them ; I just burn the edges but sometimes I burn the whole thing so yeah lol.
you can always get more creative ;3

Using book of shadows.
🕯 As A Spiritual Diary
Whenever you’re feeling the vibe, simply light a candle, burn some incense, and start writing!
Write about a breakthrough you’ve had, your thoughts on a spiritual topic, or your feelings about an intention you’re setting. Anything goes, but make it a sacred, meditative practice by being conscious of the type of energy you’re putting into it. Keep it positive and progressive! Remember, these are the types of feelings you’re choosing to attract more of.
🕯 As A Reference Book
To make your magical and spiritual studies into a fun and personal process, use your book of shadows as a place to neatly copy down notes on topics as you learn about them.
For example, if you’re studying the tarot, take notes on the meanings of the cards, the various spreads, etc. Or, if you’re learning about gardening, write down tips about how to bless seeds, when to sow and harvest specific plants in your area, etc. You can make your whole book about one subject, or you can create eclectic entries. Don’t over think it! Studying can be a fun and magical practice too!
🕯 For Creative Visualization
If you’re into the Law of Attraction (or manifesting, which is the basis of most forms of magick), use your book of shadows as a place to artfully record your intentions and visions.
Describe what you intend to attract into your life in beautifully excruciating detail! Re-read your entries any time you’re having doubts about the manifestation of your wish, or look back on it to see how the Universe unfolded that experience for you. This is a great way to keep track of your progress as you learn how the Universe works!
🕯 As a Spiritual Scrap Book
If you’re inspired by art, poetry, music, and quotes, let your book of shadows be a place to honor your inspirations!
Print out song lyrics, glue in illustrations, press flowers and herbs into your book. Create collages of things that remind you of a magical moment you’ve had, and look back on it whenever you’re seeking inspiration in your life!
🕯 As a Gratitude Journal
Manifesting more good things into your experience always starts with being thankful for what you already have.
Use your book of shadows to list off things that you’re grateful to have in your life. Make it a short daily practice to keep your spirits up, or periodically write an ode to a particular thing that makes you smile. As you go along, you’ll find you’ve lived a beautifully full life, and will always be able to count your blessings! Via the law of attraction, this also programs you to attract more things to be thankful for!
🕯 As an Art Journal
If you’re an artist like I am, let your book of shadows be a place to honor your divinely channeled creativity!
Write poems in it, or draw sketches. Do full on paintings in your book of shadows, if you want to! The possibilities are truly endless! You can even channel intentions into your artwork as a form of spell!
🕯 As a Recipe Book
If you’re into cooking, making incenses, oils, or anything that follows a recipe, use your book of shadows to remember what you’ve cooked up!
Whether you’ve successfully repeated someone else’s recipe, or invented your own, your book of shadows is a perfect place to document your process!
🕯 As a Grimoire
If you’re becoming a more experienced magical practitioner, you may use your book of shadows in the more traditional sense, to record the way you’ve performed spells and rituals that have actually worked for you and become a meaningful part of your spiritual practice.
This can be as simple as writing about how you like to celebrate the seasonal festivals on the Wheel of the Year, or the steps in your morning mindfulness practice, for example.
Amazing Grimoire! It is very wise, reserved and unyielding. It seems to me that in character it resembles the notes and reflections of a phy
An Introduction for Beginners
Feel disconnected from your Sun sign? Not sure what people mean by Venus signs or Mercury signs? Familiar with the concept of birth charts but unsure of how to interpret yours? This is the guide for you!
The natal chart is what captures our essence, and as such it is the core of astrology. The heavenly bodies, aspects, placements, and so on all blend together to define our beings, psychology, and our paths in life.
Unfamiliar with natal charts? The natal chart, also known as birth chart, is a literal chart of the heavens at the exact time and date of a person’s birth, marking the influences the heavens have upon us. Each heavenly body (the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, etc.) is located in a sign, and each marks a different part of a person’s being. To understand yourself, compatibility, etc. it’s necessary to read your birth chart.
