Can we take a moment to appreciate just how awesome He Xuan is?
Not only did he impersonate the Earth Master Ming Yi for decades without any of the Heavenly Officials noticing, but he also did such a good job at it that he ranked 9th in the Battle of Lanterns. Despite being an imposter, he maintained or maybe even increased the number of the Earth Master’s followers all this time. He must have answered prayers and acted like a real Heavenly Official despite being a ghost, while at the same time feeding Hua Cheng information about the Heavens. He lived alongside the targets of his revenge, had to hide his anger, and humored Shi Qingxuan’s whims. And all this time, he must have thought that this would have been his fate if Shi Wudu hadn’t tempered with it.
The amount of dedication and patience needed for this decades- if not centuries-long endeavor is truly remarkable.
Then again, I guess that’s the amount of dedication it takes to become a Ghost King.
Hua Cheng's gaze is full of hope because he is ready to do anything to reach his beloved.
wonder how hua cheng felt when xie lian first mentioned there was a boy who once asked him what the point of living was. how did he feel when he realised his prince, his god, his reason for living, despite proving he tends to forget or supress things, remembered that moment with clarity. for someone like hua cheng who has such a low opinion of himself, how did he feel when he realised the man he's loved for his entire life actually remembered him?
how do you think he felt at the final battle when jun wu taunted xie lian with wuming's name. he saw xie lian's panic and rage and guilt at the mere mention of his name. what did he make of that.

What I love about Hualian is that they are both so in awe of each other's love. They have both walked the earth for 800 years thinking that no one would ever love them. They both adore the other, but they both feel like they are undeserving of the other's love. So the idea that their love is mutual, that the other loves them back and adores them just as much, is such an overwhelming thought for both of them.
It's like:
"Wow, this person is so great! I'm nothing compared to him. He could never love someone like me. Just being able to stand next to him is more than I deserve, but it makes me so happy just to be in his company."
And that thought could come from any one of them.
To realize that the other feels exactly the same way must be such a stunning and wonderful feeling. And I love that! It heals so many wounds and they both deserve it so much!

Little break for you guys XD Been drawing some other things and I'm really happy with this one! Wanted to include Puqi shrine in a silhouette piece ^^ Thought that it was interesting with the last pieces although Hua Cheng has Paradise Manor and Xie Lian Xianle Palace neither really consider it their home. Their home is at the humble Puqi shrine <3
Fanfiction: Waves Woven by Wind and Water
The wind’s hands on the water’s skin create waves, sometimes as gentle as a whisper, sometimes as fierce as a war cry. And yet, wind and water are inseparable – partners in an eternal dance, shaping the face of the sea with every breath.
Two years after losing his brother at the hands of his best friend, Shi Qingxuan reminisces about the life he lost and the two people he cared most about.
