Whenever luxury brand cars come into conversation, the two car brands that are almost always compared are Mercedes-Benz and BMW. When the conversation comes up, which car brand do you generally prefer? and why do you prefer one brand over the other?

U.S. News: Best Cars notes that BMW offers “unparalleled performance, paired with class-leading safety scores” whereas Mercedes offers “extravagant comfort, paired with high reliability and cheaper cost.

Design for Mercedes-Benz seems more slick and luxurious to me compared to the BMW. However, BMW has better and more consistent performance, which makes me reconsider my choice. Do I consider performance over comfort/appearance? I think I’ll have to re-look into it.

Have you thought about these aspects when rating these two luxury brands? Does performance and safety make you rethink about choosing Mercedes or comfort, cheaper cost, and reliability make you rethink about choosing BMW?

If you are a gamer, you’ve had an argument with your friend about which system is better, Xbox by Microsoft or PlayStation by Sony. 

Specs given out by both Sony as well as Microsoft show that the difference between the two console is quite minuscule. Then why do we argue so much about how one console is much better than the other?

I personally have been on the PlayStation supporting side, but there really was no reason other than that I had a PS3 at my house. My friend also agreed that he argued for XBOX because he owned one personally. So, in terms of consoles, do you have a preference because of a certain aspect or is it because you have one or the other at your house?

For sports fans, one of the biggest inter-societal battles is the rivalry of Adidas and Nike. Even for non-sports fans, there exists Nike brand lovers as well as Adidas brand lovers, but why? Is it because of comfort or exposure to a certain brand over the other? 

“Today, during major sporting events, social media and digital activation are as relevant to Nike and Adidas as the number of national kits both brands manufacture for teams and the exposure the top endorsements provide in the fight for supremacy.“ (Max Barnett)

Max Barnett of the Nielsen Sports notes that famous sports players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin Durant, Serena Williams are sponsored by Nike where as Messi, James Harden are sponsored by Adidas.

To be honest, I personally like Adidas because of the design of their soccer cleats/shoes, however, I know my friend loves Nike because Nike sponsors FC Barcelona, his favorite soccer team. 

So... Do sports players/club you support have an impact on your brand decision making? Or is there some other reason that led you to a certain direction..?

Whose side were you on during the Samsung vs Apple battle? and why?

“Samsung and Apple are separated by decades but the young company came to strike the path of the older one. They met in the middle and walked through the same typical line. They are rivals indeed. A very young rivals.” (Bambang Ramdhan)

Ramdhan states that innovation and ease of use is Apple’s biggest strength, where as diversity and flexibility is Samsung’s biggest strength. Is this part of the reason why you admire Samsung products over Apple, or vice versa?

I love the versatility that Samsung products allow me to do, such as customization. However, some of my friends who prefer convenience generally prefer Apple products a lot more.

Do you have a bias over Coke? or Pepsi? And why do you have that bias?

"Coke has a big lead in cola market share over Pepsi, but Pepsi's multiple business lines haul in more cash“

Business Insider notes that even though Coke has an upper advantage in the cola market, Pepsi has an advantage in terms of monetary gain. 

Have you ever thought about these other business lines affiliated with Pepsi or Coke? By looking at these, does it change your opinion on these brands? 

I never knew Pepsi had such wide variety of business lines. I preferred Coke over Pepsi just because I loved Coke’s cola better than Pepsi’s cola, but this made me rethink about my choices...
