I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. But honestly, I’m really tired of the way Asian cultures and countries are treated / talked about while Asian people themselves are excluded, and thought it was about time I really let my rage out lol.

hi I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but would you mind explaining what's going on with the so-called 'multilingual' smp? I keep seeing mocking references to it but I don't actually know who is trying to make it or anything. from the mocking I've seen it sounds like someone doesn't understand what the word multilingual means, but I don't have any context for any of this, lol. if you don't want to answer then that's alright, I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. thanks and have a nice day <3

sure! i'll answer to the most of what i know but i use twitter very little so most of this info is through osmosis

i know some people call this discourse, but personally i don't really see it as such in terms of my blog at least. as someone who is multilingual myself i find it incredibly entertaining to watch this entire situation go down its like a little treat for me /silly

quackity, being a mcyter who speaks both spanish and english, made his own "first ever bilingual server" (qsmp) to join his two communities together and break the language barrier. then dream shows up basically saying he's ALSO making a new server, and it'll be the "first ever multilingual server" (which is really funny because two languages is already multilingual. and also i truly doubt either of them made the first multilingual server, but i'll throw quackity the bone here since this is his passion project) with SIXTY members and SIX languages and TEN creators speaking each language. and... competitive leaderboards???

but here's the thing: quackity made his server because he wanted to join two communities he was in together. dream is monolingual and pretty much only participates in the english mcyt community. even without taking into consideration the sheer amount of effort it would take to run a survival multiplayer server with Sixty Fucking People speaking Six Different Languages you see how these two things are not quite weighing out here on the actual cultural side of things. like sure. okay dude. now, where and how are you gonna find those 50 other non-english speaking creators? google translate? good luck!

there's just been a lot of shade being thrown around on mcyttwt recently and while i won't cover all of them here you can probably find some around here yourself. it's all incredibly entertaining to me personally and i can't wait to see what goofy misconducts will be passed around next

No, the discourse around the United SMP is not just people bitching about online translators. No, it is not people mindlessly attacking Dream.

It is a genuine and heartfelt response to what is clearly a selfish and greedy action from a content creator that has been dodging responsibilities since the dawn of time. To see a project so clearly rooted in a desire for clout/money just days after the reveal of one of the most beautiful crafted projects that has come out of the myct community feels like a slap in the face.

probably gonna delete this later but holy shit i fucking hate dreamwastaken so much especially his stupid new server. fucking listen to me right now. taking into consideration that dream is not copying off qsmp and has been working on this server for some time, its still bullshit.

first off everyone trying to say that theres a difference between bi-lingual and multilingual — quackity has said on stream that hes planning to make qsmp multilingual as well, with ccs that speak other languages being able to join. so shush about that.

secondly, all that aside, announcing united smp so close to qsmp’s start is in incredibly poor taste regardless, without even an acknowledgement of qsmp in the official announcement tweet, especially since dream and quackity are supposed to be friends. if he’d bothered at all to hire a PR team, it could have been done much more tactfully, but as usual, dream has opted to wing it, leading to just being a shitty person (see also: his tantrums during mcc, his inability to ignore cheating accusations).

furthermore, the difference between qsmp and usmp is that qsmp is a passion project — quackity is trying to introduce his culture and language to a wider audience, and create a space where he can play with all his friends, spanish-speaking and english-speaking. dream, on the other hand, is a monolingual white man who is clearly trying to take advantage of the passion people have for language and culture to earn him more clout, and hopefully erase people’s memories of every terrible thing he’s ever done. I understand the concept of a multilingual server is exciting — but seriously, watch qsmp instead. theres more love in it.

finally, all of this aside — dream is still a groomer. its pretty insane how you guys ignored that. in fact, one of his motivations behind united smp is probably to expand to a less english-speaking audience who is less likely to be aware of the accusations. please don’t let this fool you — united smp is not a sign of redemption, its a distraction. dont support it.

tl;dr: watch QSMP, not USMP.
