jennifer willoughby, the sun is still a part of me
[ Text ID: I am so busy. I am practicing my new hobby of watching me become someone else. There is so much violence in reconstruction. Each minute is grisly, but I have to participate. I am building what I cannot break. ]
Caitlyn Siehl, from What We Buried; “Haunting”
[Text ID: “I am the quiet in the hallway. / I am a phantom imprint in the bed beside you / and the miracle of it all is that I could have been anyone’s ghost, / but I wanted to be yours. / I had to be yours.”]
If I could catch a break that would be suuuper neat. I feel like I haven’t been able to breathe in months and now I’m scared for anything good to come about in my life. I can’t relish in any positive moments anymore. There is a loud and persistent voice in my head telling me I need to prepare myself for when the floor crumbles from underneath me again. I feel so lonely, I want to crawl out of my skin— but at least spring is here and all the little flowers are starting to sprout. Trying to find peace in the little things, etc.

'Do you fall in love often?' Yes often. With a view, with a book, with a dog, a cat, with numbers, with friends, with complete strangers, with nothing at all.

you are not just you
you are a collection of the stories you've read and the night skies you've admired. you are the smiles you've given to strangers and the tears you've lost on your pillows. you are the lives you've touched. you are a mixture of cosmic stardust and earth. you are a descendent of nomads and sailors. you are the flowers you've received and the plants you've watered. you are the adventures you've had and will have. you are your imagination and anticipation. you are not simple. you are a complex yet magnificent product of the life you have lived so far.
