Killing Me Slowly - Chapter 10

Charles heads back to the hospital for his one month check-up and Max seems more nervous about it than he does. After so much distance, Charles didn't think it was possible to feel so smothered. What was the Alpha so worried about?

Charles’ legs wouldn’t stop moving.

He sat on the paper-covered exam table with his hands folded in his lap like that could somehow make him look more put together, heels bumping softly against the metal step as his knees swung. It was so tall that he felt a little like a child, or at least how he imagined that would feel if he remembered.

The room smelled clean—bleach and lemon and something floral that tried too hard to be comforting. A poster on the wall showed a cheerful diagram of both female and male omega reproductive anatomy in pastel colors, like coloring it prettier made it less intimidating.

He stared at it anyway, because it was safer than staring at the door.

Max stood near it, back half-turned, arms crossed over his chest. He looked too big for the room, too tense for the soft lighting, and his scent filled the small space despite the blockers—Alpha, stressed and watchful.

Charles swallowed, hands tucking into the sleeves of his hoodie.

Regarding the new snippet: Why is Max acting soooo suspicious??? I want to grab him and shake him apart. Is he afraid the doctor will find out he’s been feeding charles some kind of medicine??? The suspense is killing me. Very looking forward to next week <3

So we have gone from, "Max avoids Charles at all cost and he is neglecting his mate" to "Omg he is being so sus, why is he hovering like that?" 🤣🤣

IRL, we’ve had 4 races. I wonder How Charles and Max in SOTS? Maybe they have a good car, smooth races, and a happy life.not suffering like me as a Ferrari fan. I miss them so much💝

I have been thinking about this a lot myself!!!!!!!!

Following how the current season is going so far, I can see Max having to work out a lot of frustration out of Charles' back and leg, maybe some fucking the frustration out as well. SOTS Max having his first real travel experiences on Vista Jet, and feeling so out of place in the paddock.

I have so many ideas for a part 2 of this fic but also 0 time to work on it 🤧

The mental image of Max in his old jeans and a T-shirt, showing up for work at the Ferrari factory and someone looks at him and calls the police because they think he's homeless is sustaining me. 😭😭 Charles having to save him because Max doesn't speak Italian, but he swears he is there to see "Charles Leclerc."

i spent all day rereading kms bc of the new update and dming my mutual both of the charlie day meme trying to put it all together … each chapter is making me more insane than the last SO MANY QUESTIONS AND YET SO FEW ANSWERS!!!!!!! i am almost Certain of the twist (its been mentioned on the clip board)

i am wondering ……… are we gonna see charles go into heat?????? or max into a rut????? 👀

god there are so many little details in this fic it genuinely is making me pace around my house muttering to myself. love it!!!!

Killing Me Slowly - Chapter 9

The date was a bad idea, and Charles knows Max won't want anything to do with him anymore. But that's a problem for later, when he isn't cuddled up against whatever that warm, purring mass is.

Actually, why was his nest so warm? And why does it feel like everything is different now?

Another rumbling purr came from Max, catching Charles off guard, Max’s arm curling against him, shifting them even closer in his sleep. There was hardly any space left between them now, Charles feeling the light fanning of Max’s soft, even breaths.

Gently, Charles placed the tips of his fingers on Max’s chest, a smooth vibration as Max exhaled. It was soft, a tingle in the base of his skull as he listened to it for a second.

His eyes flicked back to Max’s lips, and his next thought came fast and stupid.

Maybe he—could he steal a kiss?

my theory is they lost a pup, or where trying and succeeded and charles miscarriaged and obvi it wud impact both parties involved when they loose sth like that. Maybe the miscarriage was some driving related? And maybe charles--already going thru the mental stress of loosing a child--smhw blames himself for it? And his mental health continues to decline and max is grieving and dealing with it in his own way, spending more time on the sim and his racing team trying to numb himself, and mayeb he tried working it out with charles alr but charles was desponded to it and so max thought giving him space wud help and in doign that mayeb he made the mistake of making charles think that he doesnt care enuf and he feels alone and they have frequent arguements (makes sense with max saying ''im never leaving again'' in the new chap in the sense about it deosnt help with charles fluctuating mental health and later they decide to split or take some time off from the marriage but most likely divorce and they live seperate for a short while and then maybe charles wanting to be alone for a while so he went to his yacht and maybe tried suicide? And max got a call and he ran to the docks immedietly? This time thats why he is afraid or reluctant to let chalres be alone or give himtime to feel more comfotrable (henceforth making the same mistake but realized it and now is slowly trying more to be there even when he is afraid of fcking it up.The latest chap is now max said fuck it and allowed himself to get closer to charles more now. Maybe that lone heat memory is maybe some health related issue due to the miscarriage and that spending the heat tgthr wud harm charles' systems or sth? Thats why max stayed out?

Ummmmm so much to unpack here.

Not a whole lot I'll comment on other than there has definitely been a shift in Max's thought process after last chapter. He's moving from standoffish to realizing that maybe is not the best idea for Charles and they talk about it in the chapter coming on Tuesday 🫠

oh my god i'm back. that update was EVERYTHING. actually gasped and a few tears escaped when max did his mating bite … all of that angst and we FINALLY have some comfort..

theory time: max and charles were going to divorce, idk who's idea it was and who initiated it, but charles threatened to kill himself, and the boating accident was his attempt? and that's why max is being so distant, he wasn't sure if charles would want him around once he remembers? and that's why max said 'im not leaving again' ? idk if this theory is one someone else has already said. can't wait to see where it goes!

There is more comfort on the way!!! All your patience and suffering will be rewarded.

Re: Theory. Divorce is definitely already on the Board, but the other parts are interesting. 👀👀 I will pass along to the board manager.

Leave it to Max to say something interesting right as soon as Charles passes out 🫠

Charles was cheating

Max found out

They were seperated but not divorced cause the pr would have been terrible.

Max went to go visit him on the boat. They were drunk and upset and charles fell overboard. Max grabbed his phone and left. He also called the police on his way out to report the body

Or Max pushed him 🫢 ........ adding to the board.

What do you mean Max is lying?? Please tell me he’s not a villain. I cannot deal with any one of them being a bad person. Please. This fic is keeping me up at night.

There are a few things he's lied about already that if you were looking closely, you'd notice. I'll give you one for an example:

In Chapter 2, the police interview Charles and tell him that there was no evidence anyone else was on the boat with him and that they were closing their investigation. In that same chapter, Max shows Charles to his room and tells him he can text him, from the new phone on his nightstand and says, “That’s for you. They couldn't find your old one.”

Then in Chapter 4 in Max's POV, he pulls out a phone from a bag marked "PREUVE" (evidence), and listens to voicemails HE left, and comments on how beat up the phone is because Charles dropped it all the time, which means it's Charles' phone.

SO.............Max is lying about the phone and what happened to it.

WHY??? 😇🤐

Now, for your other question about the "villain" of the story. I've been asked this a few times and I don't want to spoil things for anyone so go under the cut line for my answer.

The short of it is, you need to just roll with me on this. There is a lot still to unpack about their history, and Max has his reasons for all of his behavior and being the villain does not really fit him for this story.

I need a bit of trust from you guys on this one while lestappen does what they do best. Be a complete mess that works themselves out by the end 🤧
