sleep, tired
Tomoya noticed the slight smile on Tomoyoâs face, he was glad that it seemed that she was enjoying her time with him. âYeah, youâre right about that. Iâm not sure why I didnât think about that, andâŠI hope I donât regret not bringing my sweater.âÂ
Ah, the question about the drama club came up. It seemed everyone was interested in knowing about the progress, rather than actually joining it. He wished people would join and help, rather than just ask. But then again, it was nice to talk about it for some reason. âNo need to be sad about not being able to help, you have enough things to worry about. Things are going smoothly, I suppose. Nagisa has been advertising the drama club around school with flyers. This time theyâve been approved, so no issues with that.â Tomoya sighed.
âOther than that, Iâm not sure what else we can do about the drama club, in fact⊠weâve been busy helping this little girl make starfish carvings. Apparently her sister is getting married sometime soon.â
Tomoyo nodded slightly as he spoke. "I just feel bad because it's something I would like to do. As for the starfish carvings... I thought they were just stars. I didn't really understand why she wants everyone in the school to go to her sisters wedding but... it sounds nice." She brought a hand up to her chin as she thought deeply about a wedding and then looked over to Tomoya. Her heart skipped a beat and her cheeks turned red as she thought of what it would be like to get married to him.
Quickly she looked away and tried to shake those thoughts out of her head. She was getting way too far ahead of herself as she hadn't even decided if she liked him or not. "S-So are there any other girls to join the club?" Tomoyo said, trying to change the subject and get rid of the heat on her face. She began to curse the warm weather outside as it wasn't helping in getting her cheeks less red. "I suppose Sunohara is the only other guy to be around the club, huh?"

âRyou? Pfft, sheâs completely head over heels for Tomoy- Ah.â She blinked, realising what she was just about to say. âI-I mean, no. She hasnât had these sort of thoughts. Like, sometimes when we take a bath together, there are things that happenâŠBut weâre twins, yâknow? Itâs not sexual or anything.â Wait, why the hell am I trying to justify myself to her? Kyou thought to herself, confused.
Tomoyo smiled and chuckled at how Kyou managed to trip over her words around her. Perhaps there was more Ryou in her than she thought. "For Ryou..." She let out a small sigh and shook her head slightly. "She's a nice girl but I get the feeling she wouldn't really understand the idea of liking another girl. Still, she is kind of cute when she gets all blushy like that."
Tomoya pouted, âI guess it would be more âgirlyâ for me to win you a prize. But if I canât win at a crane machine, then I suppose you could do it. Iâm sure you have the skills necessary for that.â What was he going on about? âThe skills necessary for that.â At this point he wasnât even sure what he was saying. But it seemed thatâ-âWait, what did she say?!â he thought to himself. A small faint blush brushed his cheeks. âY-Yeah, romantic⊠but we both agree this isnât a romantic âŠanything! Itâs just us hanging out.â
Tomoya followed her down the stairs, grabbing his keys and wallet. He closed the door behind him and locked it. He squinted his eyes from the sudden bright light, itâd been a couple of days since heâd been outside. âWith this sun, I highly doubt youâll get cold or anything.â He said as they started heading off towards the mall.
Tomoyo smiled slightly as they walked together down the streets. "The mall will be air conditioned though so it might be cold in there." She wasn't sure how to go about this as he didn't want anything romantic to happen. But as long as they spent time together, that was enough. Tomoyo wanted to get to know him better and this was a way to figure things out.
She placed her hand against her forehead to help block the sun shining into her eyes. "So how has the drama club been with Nagisa? I'm a little sad that I can't be around to help but it is good to see her with friends." Tomoyo still asked about other women because she wanted to know where his mindset was with them. Did he like anyone? If the feelings were mutual then she didn't want to get in the way of others, that's just who she was.

Kyou stared at Tomoyoâs exposed legs, then jerked her eyes away with some effort. âN-nothing in particular, I guess. Itâs just that I find myself more naturally attracted to girls rather than guys. I-itâs just experimenting! Everyone does itâŠright?â Kyou sounded a little uncertain, then shook her head vigorously. âT-thereâs noone in particular!â she denied, a little to loudly. âGirls are justâŠprettier?â she blushed and her eyes darted around nervously. âI-I mean, guys are all brusque and mean and everything, and they donât have thatâŠaura around them.â
"Hmm..." Tomoyo tilted her head and stared at Kyou, interested in how she was acting. "I can understand that since guys don't really care much about their looks. Or at least the don't try as hard to keep their hair the right way and little things like that." She poked Kyou in the side with the tip of her shoe, playfully. "Hey, do you think your sister thinks about things like this?" It was hard to imagine Ryou liking women since she was quite hung up on Okazaki.

âOf course,â Kyou said lazily, resting her chin on her hand as she glanced at Tomoyo. âI mean, look at ya, Miss Student Prez. If I were a guy, Iâd be afraid to approach you too.â She grinned. âAlthough if I did, it probably wouldâve been to pick a fight. I do believe that me being a guy would only fuel my tendencies towards violence to whole new levels.â She nodded in agreement. âYup, I listen to what the civilians say, president. The boys donât approach you cause youâre out of their league, and some girls donât cause youâre too perfect.â She pointed a finger at Tomoyo. âYou never screw up. Not publicly, at least. Thatâs why everyone sees you as perfect. Unlike me. Iâm just âthat violent twinâ.â
Kyou shrugged. âYeah, I prefer girls over guys. Theyâre funner to hang out with, they donât ask stupid questions, and they donât want to get in your panties all the ti-â Kyouâs mouth gaped open as the second part of Tomoyoâs question processed through her mind. âB-b-b-bi?â The blush was back now. âO-of course not! Iâm only interested in bo-â She stopped, and sighed, regaining her composure. She turned her head to one side slightly, the blush deepening. âY-yeah, I guess I have,â she muttered.
"Oh?" Tomoyo was quite interested to press this matter farther. "What exactly have you thought about?" She jumped up onto the table, sitting on the edge of it near Kyou. "Is there anyone in particular that's attracted you or do you just like girls because they're nicer and less hormone driven?" Tomoyo swung her legs back and forth under the table as she tilted her head, waiting for an answer.
It was really the first time she'd had a girl to talk to about anything personal so she wanted to get all she could from it. She knew Kyou would be a little embarrassed about things but it seemed like she was willing to open up. Maybe I shouldn't push her too hard... that might make her clam up...

âGood,â Kyou said, still sitting there stubbornly as though half expecting Tomoyo to try and throw her out. Once Kyou made up her mind, it took nothing less of brute strength to change it. Of which Tomoyo had plenty.
Kyou snorted as Tomoyo posed the question to her about boys. âBoys? Of course theyâre that bad. How many times do you think Iâve been asked out already? But they all have the same motives. Ecchi, perverted motives. They only see girls as a pair of breasts attached to something that moves.â Kyou knew she was being a bit harsh, but boys annoyed her to no end. Tomoya is different thoughâŠa small voice whispered to her in the back of her mind. She ignored it.
âActually, youâre pretty lucky that you have a fanclub full of girls.â She held up her hand as though indicating the rungs of a ladder. âFirst, thereâs the ordinary girls, who live life like normal, ordinary girls.â She moved her hand up slightly. âThen, thereâs the cute ones who are unaware of their cuteness. Boys like them because theyâre cute, but theyâre not aware that theyâre cute. Or theyâre just big breasted.â The hand moved up again. âThen thereâs the cute ones who are aware that theyâre cute. Theyâll have fan clubs, and theyâll use them, but theyâre full of stupid boys. The other girls are usually jealous of this type.â She then gestured at Tomoyo. âThen thereâs the types like you. Beautiful, popular, strong, intelligent, and on top of all that, youâre the student council president. Your fan club is exclusively full of girls, and do you know why?â She didnât bother waiting for an answer from the other girl. âItâs because the boys realise youâre out of their league. They wonât even come near you because you seem so untouchable, like youâre in another world. Itâs not because youâre scary strong. Hell, Iâm scary but boys still approach me.â
Tomoyo knew that boys were definitely like she had described but there were still a few good ones mixed in there. If Sunohara weren't such an idiot then... no, he'll always be a good for nothing... I think. Still, he has a strong will and will keep at something so maybe he'll end up okay... So far the notable ones she had met were just Tomoya and Sunohara and maybe a few people in the student council. Most of the other boys did seem pretty hormone driven, especially when she caught them looking at her.
"You think I'm completely out of their league?" Tomoyo placed a hand against her chin to think about this for a moment. So I have everything then? There are too many good points to me so people compare themselves to me and figure their faults would make me reject them. "That... actually makes a lot of sense..." Tomoyo smiled slightly at Kyou. "Thank you for that... it makes me feel a bit better..."
"I don't mean to try and tease you or anything but... the way you talk about boys and girls..." She paused for a moment to gather the correct words. "I do believe you seem to favour girls over boys, Okazaki excluded of course. You have a lot nicer things to say about girls so have you ever given it thought? Being bi I mean."
âŠDo you think weâll ever meet again?

Kyou stared right at Tomoyoâs face, sensing that she was telling the truth and wasnât joking, like she had been for most of the day. Her mood was completelyâŠdifferent from usual. She seemed more fragile, more feminine, more likeâŠMore like Ryou. Kyouâs instinct to protect was kicking in, and it was all she could do to stop it from taking over.
âBoys are stupid, unreasonable, dimwitted, and extremely dense,â Kyou said. âTheyâre just useless, inferior beings compared to us girls. Got that? Donât rely on boys coming to you to be your friend or anything. They all have ulterior motives anyway. Youâre not alone, okay? You have friends, Iâm sure of that.â She looked down, ready to mumble again, but looked up again, straight into Tomoyoâs eyes. âIâm your friend. Starting now. So donât feel lonely. Or sad.â
She couldnât completely understand Tomoyoâs feeling of loneliness. After all, even if everyone turned against her, she knew she still had Ryou. But she knew for certain that words could cut deeper than actions, which was why she preferred to beat sense into someone rather than breaking them with her sharp tongue. A bruise could heal. A mental scar couldnât.
She sat down stubbornly, having made up your mind. âNo, Iâm not going. Iâve already gone enough this year to pass even if I donât go for the rest of the year anyway, all the teachers like me, and Iâm smarter than everyone else in my class. Whatâs missing a few classes?â
Tomoyo smiled warmly at Kyou as she tried to cheer her up. It worked, kind of. "I'm a little surprised... I didn't expect you to try and cheer me up." Slowly she looked over at Kyou and her stubbornness at she sat there, refusing to return to class. "Kyou... you really shouldn't skip class to try and keep me company but I will still accept your friendship."
Knowing that her scolding was useless on Kyou, Tomoyo let out a small sigh. "I guess I can tell your teacher that I needed your help this afternoon... just don't make a habit of this." A small moment of silence passed between them before Tomoyo spoke again. "Do you really think boys are that bad? I mean, I know some are but... still... I would have thought someone would have asked me out by now. Even if he was the bottom of the barrel. Somethings just don't change... I was never asked out at my old school either, the boys were just too afraid of me."
I wonder what made her decide to stay...? From what she thinks of boys it seems she's more likely to be into girls. Still, the way she blushed when I mention Okazaki... I guess there are some exceptions? I'm probably thinking too much into this again. Tomoyo sighed and shook her head. "I'm sure I can find some work for us to do... there's always stuff around here that needs to be done."
sakagamixtomoyo
Kyou could tell that Tomoyo was putting on a fake smile. After all, Kyou was the master of fake smiles - she often put them on to hide her true emotions, whether that be sorrow, or just a mask to hide her next violent action. However, her next sentence put Kyou at ease. âOh,â she just said, not knowing what else to say. But confusion was swirling around inside of her. Am I relieved that Tomoya is dating TomoyoâŠOr am I relieved that Tomoyo isnât dating Tomoya? She shook her head, trying to clear out the thoughts. Am IâŠattracted to Tomoyo? No freakinâ way.
Kyou reached for Tomoyoâs back as she turned away from her, then rescinded her outreached hand, holding it close to her chest. IâŠWhat exactly am I doing? IâmâŠIâm so confused. I have to talk to Ryou about this.
She headed towards the door, muttering âNo problem, anytime,â along the way, then turned around and strolled back towards Tomoyo before her nerve failed her. Grabbing her shoulder, Kyou spun her around and was shocked, but not surprised, to see the sadness on Tomoyoâs face. âSakaga-âŠâ Kyou stopped. âT-Tomoyo.â She said it with a tiny blush on her face, as it was the first time she had referred to the other girl so informally. âWhatâs wrong?â
Normally Tomoyo would attack someone who had touched her so suddenly but she was in no mood to fight, much less in the student council room. "It's... nothing..." Tomoyo avoided eye contact even though she knew it was almost impossible to avoid Kyou. She was shocked to be called by her first name but it still didn't shift her position of sadness. "I just..."
Tomoyo let out a heavy sigh and turned slightly away to look out a window.. "It's hard to make friends here, at least for me. Boys shun me because I'm better than them at everything and some are just straight up afraid. Your comment just reminded me how alone I am at this school as most of the girls just come to me for help rather than to see me. I don't know, maybe it's just all in my head but... it makes me sad."
I thought you'd be one of the people to understand that kind of feeling... maybe... maybe not. Sometimes harsh words can really hurt people if they are true. "W-Why are you worrying about me anyways? You need to get along to class or you'll be late..." Tomoyo trailed off in a weak attempt to get out of further questioning.
sakagamixtomoyo
Kyou blinked as Tomoyo suddenly lost all of her teasing attitude. Did I strike a nerve there? she thought, bemused. Perhaps I should apologiseâŠNo, no! Sheâs been messing with my head all day, why should I apologise to her?! B-butâŠShe looks really hurtâŠKyou wrestled with herself inwardly, completely confused on what to do.
She worked quietly for a while, which was a lot longer for the usually loud, rowdy Kyou than it seemed. Making sure that all the calculations were in order was easy - she was one of the few in the school who could claim that she was actually intelligent. Unlike a couple of no-good delinquents that she knew. Shoving the finished papers back over to Tomoyo, she finally spoke.
âHere. Done.â She turned away, blushing. âA-andâŠSorry about what I said before,â she added, almost inaudibly.
"Thanks... the help is much appreciated." Tomoyo put on a fake smile before becoming confused by Kyou's muttering. She opened her m outh for a second to ask what she had said but thought it might be better to leave it alone. "I..." She rubbed her arm awkwardly as she felt she might regret saying this. "Okazaki and I are not a couple or anything. We're just friends and I was trying to help him and Sunohara wake up for school."
Maybe I was a little mean to her and took the teasing too far... she's kind of nice. On the very rare occasion anyways. Tomoyo let out a sigh and stood up to put the papers away. "That is all, I suppose you can go now." What else is there to say? She did her work so she's free to go now. Maybe I should leave her be for a while and stop bugging her. It'd probably be best since trouble seems to follow me.
Tomoyo stood with her back to Kyou to help hide the sad look on her face as she rummaged through files, waiting for her to leave. The words that had been spoken hurt more than she had thought. I thought I put those feelings behind me... feelings of loneliness.
