my roman empire in this fandom is, and will always be, the fact that nirei was created for sakura's sake. that the story wouldn't have progressed as much or as easily as it did without his existence. that nirei is an important part of sakura's life and i need people to understand that already

Hey, as a fandom, can we please not use “the pirate” as a descriptor for Suo if the fic is not a pirate au?

Like, why do people just casually make fun of characters with visual disabilities? Why do other people seem to not think anything of it when they see comments like that? Do they think it would be okay to refer to an irl person as a pirate if that person wore an eyepatch for medical reasons? Do they know that real people with disabilities read fanfics and see the writers doing this to the characters they relate to?

I hate to be the guy that’s always complaining about the subtle ableism in fandoms, but as someone who isn’t entirely able-bodied, it just really irks me how casual it is sometimes. Like most people literally don’t think anything of it when they make/see jokes and comments pertaining to Suo’s visual disability.

Maybe I’m just being overly sensitive, idk.

But let me tell you, I never clicked out of a fic so fast.
