Hi, I'm Ana! But I go mostly by Anne/Annie.

I'm a 23 y/old literature student, writer and translator who loves music. I don't have any side blogs or anything, just this one that I use for pretty much everything: fandom, fashion, politics, health, academic and personal stuff; sometimes even like a diary.

English is not my first language, I'm studying my degree in my native language: Spanish. So, if something about my grammar and/or syntax seems kinda off, it may be because of that. Feel free to kindly correct any of those mistakes :)

I know I'm always saying my life feels like a Derry Girls episode, but this HAS to be the most Derry Girls shit ever.

My sister, cousin and I went to a concert (or attempted to) yesterday, our aunt was with us, trying to help us get tickets outside the venue since it was completely sold out. Turns out those leeches the resellers had them for triple the original price, auntie was ready to throw fists for us, one of the resellers almost hit her with an umbrella and it was a hot mess. Long story short we couldn't get tickets, so ofc we didn't get in and our last resort was to stand in our tiptoes all night against a fence to watch the whole thing with all the other 100+ people that also didn't have tickets. Meanwhile, our aunt was waiting for us in the back, seated on a bench.

For a bit more context, we're currently under martial law, so basically cops and soldiers ready to attack everywhere. Mid concert, armed soldiers tried to kick us out since we didn't pay to watch (???????), a cop threatened to throw tear gas AND THEN LAUGHED ABOUT IT. It didn't escalate and they let us stay.

Half an hour after the altercation, people were still getting in and/or trying to find tickets. Then, out of fucking nowhere, the three of us see OUR AUNT, who wasn't supposed to go to the concert and was only there to help with the tickets, getting in with a random guy and escorted by a cop 😭 We were, honest to god, so so so sooooo dumbfounded bc wdym the only one of us who had little to no desire to get in was the only one who got in FOR FREE and it was our 54 year old aunt 😭😭😭😭

Much to my disgust and sorrow, we live in a misogynist society. When women are treated unfairly, men rarely stand up for them. Despite men’s promises to protect women, it frequently falls on women to protect themselves and each other from men’s mistreatment.

We also live in a society that is indifferent to bullying. How many times has someone been bullied at work, school, or church, only for bystanders to watch and do nothing? One of the appealing characteristics of the Entrapdak romance is that Hordak actively stands up for Entrapta. When Shadow Weaver is outraged at Entrapta’s work on the Black Garnet, Hordak firmly defends Entrapta’s technical prowess and right to “tinker with whatever she wants.” When Catra demands that Entrapta explain herself, Hordak snaps that Entrapta’s work is of no concern to her. When Entrapta confides in Hordak about feeling like a failure, he condemns her detractors, insisting that those who “discount you are utter fools!” Finally, when Horde Prime orders Entrapta’s execution at the climax of “Heart, Part II”, Hordak chooses to kill his god rather than harm her.

In a series in which Entrapta is frequently misunderstood, ridiculed, and condemned, Hordak is the only character who consistently stands up for her. His respect for her, and later love for her, is genuine, so much so that he speaks up when she is criticized. In a world in which so few men stand up for women, Hordak is refreshing wish fulfillment. If even a fictional villain can defend the woman he cherishes, what’s the excuse of real life men?

in all seriousness though a fandom doesn't die when there's no new episodes or games or "content" to play with and it doesn't die because people aren't as loud as the day it first came out either. if you're still creating then the fandom is alive. if your mutual who has since moved on still reblogs a post about it every four months then the fandom is alive. if there is even one person out there still engaging in, creating for, or just enjoying that show or that game or those characters, then the fandom is alive.
