You know when you write madly for a day or two or twenty, until suddenly you hit a wall and nothing else comes out? That's not burnout. It's a hangover.

Burnout is working ten hours a day at something you hate, trying to eek out some semblance of joy until you've destroyed yourself.

If you love what you're doing--writing, reading, drawing, painting, whatever--you're coming down from a high. Treat it like you would a hangover. Eat, drink some water, and sleep. Maybe take an Advil. But know that in a couple of days, with proper care, you're going to feel just fine again.

i only kept reading because i wanted to get to the part that takes place on the titanic

but she's SO BORING oh my GOD

even if you subscribe to the (false!! erroneous!! people have always been people!!) belief that Women in the early 1900s were all soft spoken opinionless porcelain dolls trapped in corsets - even by THOSE STANDARDS she sucks

the writing is very pretty, though

like the scenery is fantastic but nobody has a personality i feel like im reading an old timey upscale travel magazine

update i am now 75% done and they are finally ON the titanic but despite the tagline printed on the cover of this book literally INCLUDING the word titanic our intrepid* heroine has decided to just. not mention. any single aspect of the most famous ship in the history of the modern world lol like she got on it in france and was then like OKAY SO ANYWAY FOUR DAYS LATER,,,,

im only finishing this book because it's made me hysterical

i am rabid. feral. chaos has flooded my veins. she doesn't even die at the end. i will never know peace

and the son (rightfully. reasonably. he is truly the only valid character in this entire story) was very upset with his father ???? bringing home a Teenage Bride ??? and the Tension between the son and the the wife was....actually very interesting lol oops
