➢ tida.

   “ oh; yeah; that’s just common sense… that sounds messy. ‘probably make the neighbor question some things… ” thanks for the morbid but somewhat entertaining image, Salem. the thought of the ensuing drama gives him some small, tiny amount of reprieve. “ … not a funeral, ” he explains, gesturing to his casual, street clothes. “ you think I’d wear this to a funeral? maybe the funeral of someone I hate. ” he kind of wants to avoid explaining? it’s never enjoyable to talk about. but Salem would probably figure it out anyway, and actually, maybe he could use someone to talk to, a little bit… “ they’re for my mom… her grave, I mean… what are you doing here? ” 

        ❝ i can only assume you don’t mean kaede. ❞ it’s nice to see that tida still brings flowers to his birth mother’s grave though, but then again, salem already knew tida was a good kid ( albeit a strange one at times ). ❝ i like going for walks. ❞ it’s a simple response, one that probably requires further explanation, but salem always did like to keep up an air of mystique. ❝ —would you like some company? ❞

➢ endora.

“Oh, you know what I meant,” Endora replies, deciding not to explain herself any further. She scoffs, feeling that familiar sense of anger creeping in. “Your break ups and my marriage. What a lot of wasted time and unnecessary heartbreak.” She can tell herself that she’s gotten past Maurice as many times as she likes, but it isn’t true. The strong emotion pours out of her eyes and her rigid posture, even if she won’t allow the words to come out of her mouth. “We’ll just have to stick together and keep each other from making mistakes we’ll regret later.” 

        ❝ that i do. ❞ he’ll let her get it out though, it seemed as if it might be something having been built up for a while. he’s on the fence about whether or not to agree though. he rarely sees relationships as time wasted per say, it’s all something that’s help to shape him over the years, as for his own marriage, well, he got annabelle out of that one, so he can’t bring himself to complain. all that to say, he does see the aspect of unnecessary heartbreak, how frustrating & painful it can be. ❝ i’m not sure there are any mistakes left for me to make, ❞ & he lets out a dry laugh.  ❝ i’m afraid i might have already made them all. ❞

        ❝ as do i, but what could you possibly have to mourn when you have yours present in company? i’m delightful & make everything better. ❞ he’s not very good at comforting, something else they have in common. though, he has to admit, his joke seems rather sub par considering his usual repertoire.

With an additional laugh, she pulls a cigarette out of thin air, lighting it with the tip of her finger. “Remind me to give you a potion for hangovers when the night ends, you’ll need it. But enjoy the feeling for now. Sometimes I wish I could live within it always.”

❝ as do, endora. ❞ with that he stretches out his arms above his head, letting out a pleased hum at the feeling. he’s tempted to light a cigarette of his own, but instead he nurses his drink in his hand, taking another sip.  ❝ so, what do you suppose our plan for the evening should be? ❞

                    ❝  you haven’t exhausted your nine lives yet?  ❞  it’s a half-hearted attempt at a joke.  though, now she is mildly curious.  the talking part drew her eye, the following statement held her attention.  ❝  mm.  so how does a grown ass man get stuck as a cat?  unless you’re not really stuck that way and this is just  …  your thing.  ❞  she’s holding the bottle captive, but she motions to it with a wave of her hand and a slight smile tugging at her lips.  ❝  i’ll consider sharing if your answer’s really good.  ❞

        ❝ i suppose it’s become my thing, though not intentionally. there are plenty of people in the magic realm who are animals, whether it’s a curse, a punishment, or anything else. but in my case, i tried to take over the world. this is my punishment. ❞ as difficult a punishment as it might be to spend nearly 200 years as a cat, he still manages to count his lucky stars, he could have been far worse off. he could be a frog, for example.

The witch narrows his brows, looking less than amused. “It was sarcasm. Meant to be an insult, because you’re not listening to a damn thing that’s come out of my mouth.” Once again, Jae has to ask himself why he is bothering with this feline. A soft sigh escapes from his lips and he shakes his head. “Nevermind. I don’t actually care about your grooming habits. Did you hear anything I said at all about the potion ingredients, or was my assumption utterly correct?”

        ❝ i take offense to that, sir. ❞ it wasn’t that he wasn’t listening, simply that he had nothing to add for the moment, & he was distracted by the visual of a woman going by with what appears to be an untrained puppy, more pulling her along than walking. ❝ i head you quiet clearly. & i told you i know a guy who can help retrieve the more difficult items. he’s not very expensive either, i’d gone to the academy with him as a child, he always gives me a discounted price. ❞

   “That does make a lot of sense. It really is more about how it is used and who the user is.. Magic itself ..is just what it is. It does seem a bit absurd to place a moral value on the material itself.“

        ❝ see? you get it. i’ll never understand why people have such hard time understanding the concept. & yet people judge magic so strongly, seeing it as either the work of the devil or that of angels. the way i see it, magic is like words. words can be kind or cruel, there are no rules dictating it either way. ❞

Endora turns to take another glance at the room she’s selected for him, both extravagant and soft at the same time, like most of her home. “Before long you might feel as though you’ve lived here for centuries like I have,” she teases, before a more sincere smile replaces the one on her face.

“I appreciate this. I do detest my home being empty. Independence is nice, but I wasn’t meant to live in solitude.”

        ❝ i can understand that. ❞ he’s always been more extroverted, energized by people. perhaps some of that his is constant want for attention, but endora’s home.. his home... is eerily quiet. he’s sure he’ll get used to it soon enough. perhaps now he can enjoy things without the constant worry of being interrupted by whomever required his advice at the time. ❝ i can assure you this much at least, your house won’t feel as empty. so what do you say we crack open a nice bottle of wine to celebrate my becoming your new roommate? ❞

brows furrow lightly as she hears a voice in the room that doesn’t belong to her.  head tilts sideways and then down at the floor  ,  as the fairy finaly realizes it comes from the black cat she’s found on her dorrway just ten minutes before.  a talking cat wouldn’t be such a strange thing if they were in MAGIX…  but here?  on earth?  it’s rather rare.  golden eyes examine the pet for a while before her lips twitch into a smile.  “ well good thing i didn’t want to SELL you  ,  then. ”

        ❝ dear, it was more meant in the i own a lot of money, rather than the you could sell me for a lot of money. but i understand the confusion. ❞ there’s a pause as he makes an examination of his own, she seemed oddly calm having found a talking cat. generally speaking, people have more of a reaction than that. he’s not complaining per say, though he does like to make a good entrance, it’s just curious. ❝ —you’re not from around here... are you? ❞ it sounds more like a statement than a question, but in the end, confirmation of his guess was still yet to be heard.

        ❝ this is what i get for going to that concert. i did an awful lot of yelling for a cat. ❞ his voice is hoarse, raspy from being gone. hilda had made him a potion to speed up the process but it didn’t seem to be doing much.  ❝ thank you for coming to check on me though, it’s very kind of you. ❞

        ❝ absolutely. ❞ he never could turn down a nice glass of wine. ❝ i recently acquired a few rather fine bottles of red from italy. i’d be happy to open one up for the evening, or if rosé or white is more your speed, i’m sure i have some lying around somewhere. ❞
