Its the middle of the night. You're driving through long country roads, the sky shrouded by the thick foliage of trees towering above you. You make a wrong turn onto a rural backroad when your GPS stops working.

You decide to drive further, thinking maybe you'll find a farmhouse with a kind couple who will let you stay the night. As you drive, you see lights in the distance. You breath a sigh of relief and continue forward. You park a little away and approach a town, welcomed with open arms by those who are still awake. A tall older man dressed in priest's clothes greets you. He offers you a meal and free lodging for the night. He says it is the kindness and blessing from God. It's sketchy, sure, but it's just one night…

You awake in a dark room, arms bound to the chair you're seated in. Your head is pounding, body aching and vision distorting as a door opens. The same man from before approaches you. You can't decipher where you are or how you got there. You can't even remember yourself. The man tells you that you were found and saved by the grace of God. You are given water and food once more, your arms are freed, and… who would you be to not accept the offer? You're cold, you're hurting, you're confused… and this man seems nice. What would be the harm in calling this town home?

Salem takes place in an unnamed town, tucked away in the countryside, unidentifiable on maps. The Mayor leads with a charismatic smile through manipulation and harsh punishment enforced by his Council, his underdogs. (post detailing hierarchy coming soon).

This story ultimately deals with revenge against a corrupt religion and the systems it perpetuates that thrive off sexism, conformity and abuse of it's citizens.

Inspiration pulled from Town of Salem(game), slasher horror, Midsommer, Wake Up Dead Man, Sweeney Todd. I AM ALWAYS OPEN TO RECOMMENDATIONS!
