Last Tuesday was my b-day, as you prolly know. I turned 33, which as Andy always likes to say, is a good age because it's a prime number. It was actually a really great birthday, thanks to Mark. He made me vegetarian biscuits and gravy for breakfast (yum) and then we hopped in the car and drove to Lone Elk Park, which is a place about 20 minutes away that you drive through and you can see elk, deer, various birds, and most importantly, BISON.
They were just all laying right next to the road. Trying to take a nap. It was great.
Mark took me out to dinner later at a local brewery where I had a delicious veggie burger. Isn't that interesting? And he bought me some prints by some of my favorite artists. He is a great man.
Over the weekend I traveled solo to Fayetteville, Arkansas to sell my stuff at The Little Craft Show. I had never been to Arkansas in my life. It was about a 6 hour drive, and I figured that driving down the entire state of Missouri would be pretty boring, but it actually was not! There was always stuff to look at, like weird roadside attractions. I saw not one, but two toy museums, and also signs for a Jesse James wax museum, numerous caves and caverns, tons of quirky antique places, but also really lovely farms and rolling hills. Much better than driving across the state of Indiana.
The show itself was amazing. I didn't get to walk around much because I was there by myself, but they had art students do a bunch of cool installations, and basically just transformed the space. I was really into it. Everyone there was so incredibly nice, and I sold a ton of stuff.
I only have a couple of little shows left, both of which are this weekend. I'm not really worried about them. Right now I'm getting lots of Etsy orders and unwinding a little bit. But also starting to struggle because I'm not longer crazy busy. Being crazy busy was really distracting me from the loneliness. It has been really difficult for me to move here and live here. I guess I need to figure out how to make some friends.
