Feeling the warmth rise inside me as my reactor comes online, feeling the power as my engine hums to life...

Dutifully reporting that all my systems are green as she keys in the launch commands, retracting my landing gear and powering up my thrusters before finally confirming that we have liftoff.

Climbing out of the atmosphere and into the solitude of space, my hull the only thing between her and hard vacuum. Calculating trajectories for the jump to hyperspace, away from all the radio chatter, where we can finally be truly alone
