We have been using a lime wash on our wood for a truly authentic white wash finish on our old wood. Lime was a base for paint when they had nothing else. It provided a coating that repelled insects and protected the wood. This is a vanity top in a client's new home. #madeinsouthcarolina #madeincharleston #rusticmodern #saltwoodco #rusticvanity #limewash #charlestonlimewash (at Charleston, South Carolina)
A pair of old oak bookcases we built from some oak out of western Virginia mountains. Six foot long each for a client's man room. #reclaimedwood #saltwoodco #reclaimedbookshelf #rusticmodern #madeincharleston #madeinsouthcarolina (at Salt Wood Co.)
Delivered today, heart pine from a charleston warehouse built in 1780. The wood likely came from old growth pine, now extinct. #saltwoodco #modernrustic #rusticmodern #madeincharleston #reclaimedwood #reclaimedtable (at Isle Of Palms, S.C.)
Before we build your piece, we draw a scaled drawing that serves as a way to ensure we meet your expectations. #madeincharleston #saltwoodco #reclaimedfurniture #barndoors #slidingdoors (at Salt Wood Co.)
Small breakfast table and bench for new home on Isle of Palms. The table has a stainless steel top and the wood a white washed finish. #saltwoodco #rustictable #reclaimedwood #reclaimedwoodtable #breakfasttable #interiordesignideas (at Isle Of Palms Beach House)
Trestle tables for a local community clubhouse. Made with new wood. We will finish with a layered chalk paint wash over a light walnut stain. (at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina)
Modern foyer table made with historic heart pine #handmadefurniture #rustic #reclaimedwood #saltwoodco #custommade #charlestondesign #foyer #customfurniture (at Salt Wood Co.)
Out of the box... We just delivered 150 ebonized oak menu holders for a new sushi restaurant in Atlanta. Made from reclaimed oak with out black oxidized finish. #saltwoodco #reclamedoek #reclaimed wood #handcrafted #menu #restaurantlife (at Salt Wood Co.)
A client's screen porch. We combined some historic reclaimed heart pine with tabby walls for. Nice look in a new home. #screenporch #handcrafted #saltwoodco #heartpine #reclaimedmantle #floatingshelves #woodmantelpiece
Floating heart pine shelves from a clients grandfather's barn. We used custom hanger rods to mount to the wall with no visible sign of support. Pretty cool stuff. #saltwoodco #heartpine #rusticshelving #reclaimedwood
We have been busy in the shop making tables, sliding barn doors, chairs, and benches from historic reclaimed wood. We craft all sizes to meet your needs. Call or email us about your next project.
Table and bench from historic oak barnwood. The wood came from a barn in Ivanhoe VA. It sat next to Cripple Creek. The barn was built in the 1860's and has been disassembled and repurposed all over the eastern US. saltwoodco
Some of our recent projects
who we are, what we do
Salt Wood Co. is located in Charleston SC. We use historic reclaimed wood to create furniture for your home. Typical products include coffee tables, dining tables, benches, and a variety of boxes. We recently recreated some porch chairs that feature an adjustable back and drop leaf.

Charleston's own organization formed to support local businesses
A few other projects we have been working on. A small bench, a bedswing, and a table and bench. The bed swing is to be featured at the Charleston Home+Design show next weekend.
