2017 was a fulfilling year with lots of enlightening moments, I gotta say
Wtf how did you meet banksy
I was student teaching in Springfield and he would show up everyday and pick up a different kid from school and eventually I was like “this is creepy” so I asked him like what are u doing with all these kids man, a different kid every day? And he was like “how else was I supposed to get your attention while making a point about heterosexual romance as a reproduction machine” and I was like “what?” And he was like “my friend wants to know if ur single” and I was like “banksy I’m a lesbian if you’re asking about yourself I don’t want to go out with you” and the muttered something about his friend, shoved a kid at me, and quickly walked away with his hood up.
If this is a joke, it's fucking hilarious
“Not all white people are racist.” “Not all men are sexist.”
Maybe while people were tired of being called racist/sexist? Idk man also you hate the electoral college and the very concept of it, yet you use it as the example for your point. Seeming to forget she won the popular vote. It’s all about where you’re raised, which is why a bunch of whites in California voted for Hillary.
And your point doesn’t make sense in general because you’re still calling all white men racist/sexist/bigoted which is why he won in the first place so keep shooting your cause in the foot instead of trying to win them over
I hate you response to this, @salvage-my-dream I really do. No, not all men/white people are racist/sexist, but the majority is (if you voted for Drumpf not bc of the racist/sexist stuff he did and said but despite of that, it still means that you don’t care enough about poc/women, which just makes you a different sort of racist/sexist, but racist/sexist nonetheless). Which means all of them/us should take responsibility. If you really aren’t racist/sexist, your first impulse shouldn’t be ‘but I’m not, uwu’. It should be ‘wow, this is a real problem, let me try and fix this’.
Maybe while people were tired of being called racist/sexist?
Wait, so what you’re saying is that bc ppl were called out for doing/saying stuff that denies other ppl their basic human rights, they decided to go ‘f*ck it, let’s prove them right?’ So basically they were just hiding their racism/sexism but not actually doing anything to work against racism/sexism, and when they didn’t get a pat on the back for that, when they were told ‘hey, this is a problem we see every day’, they decided to say ‘oh, so bc ppl say i’m racist, even though I personally have never used the n-word, that’s oppression just as bad, let me vote for Drumpf’? Really?
Idk man also you hate the electoral college and the very concept of it, yet you use it as the example for your point. Seeming to forget she won the popular vote. It’s all about where you’re raised, which is why a bunch of whites in California voted for Hillary.
Alright, those maps show the results by the electoral votes based on being white or a man. (Though you should be able to determine that if the majority of white ppl/men had voted blue, those maps would not look like that, right?) Let’s go by the popular vote then. According to this, Drumpf was elected by 53% of men, 58% of white ppl. Every other racial group voted for Hillary. So yes, of course white ppl and men voted for her. Maybe overwhelmingly so in some places. But overall, he won because of white ppl/men. If we only look at them, he would have won the popular vote as well.
And your point doesn’t make sense in general because you’re still calling all white men racist/sexist/bigoted which is why he won in the first place so keep shooting your cause in the foot instead of trying to win them over
Why is it that the burden of being understanding, of building bridges is always placed on poc/women? Why do they need to win white men over? Why do they have to prove that they deserve basic human rights, that racism/sexism/bigotry is bad? Drumpf was endorsed by the KKK! The KKK! And now they’re celebrating in the streets. How can you tell me that voting for a candidate that shares the views of a racist, nazi terror group is somehow not racist? Look, if you think that white ppl/men are offended by being called racist and sexist and that that makes them not want to explain their position to women/minorities - then what do you think how poc/women feel when they are at the actual end of said racism/sexism?
Honestly, I’m at a loss here. Please, if you can, explain to me how being called racist is worse than actually being racist. How the proper reaction to being called out on offensive behaviour is ‘Well, then I will do that even more’ instead of ‘hm, maybe I should overthink my actions to see whether they have a point’? Because I don’t understand, and since that obviously means that “I’m shooting my cause in the foot”, I probably should try to.
You spend the majority of your time telling white people they’re evil and then expect them to come flocking to your side, yet you don’t see how you were making Trump’s victory more and more achievable
First of all, I’m white. Second, you didn’t really address what I said, you just repeated yourself, but alright.
You’re shooting yourself in the foot because all Tumblr has been doing since it became the haven for Leftist bigots is calling people who make jokes about rape/race/sex the worst human beings in the world, so when an actual rapist/racist/sexist comes along, you call him the same thing
I personally have never seen anyone judge ppl for making jokes abt sex, so I’m not gonna address that. The other two points however: Some people may have said sth about them being the worst human beings in the world, but that’s not the main argument (and by saying everyone on tumblr says so, aren’t you doing the same thing as calling all white ppl racist?). What is being said is that if an actual rapist/racist hears you joke about that stuff, they will take you seriously and assume that you totally agree with them that racism and rape are fine. You might not intent that, but intent doesn’t matter, the results do. The vast majority of ppl/tumblr users will not put Bill Cosby and Billy Bush on the same level. Bill Cosby is an ‘actual rapist’, Billy Bush, as far as we know, is not. However, his actions and jokes do make rapists think their actions are just fine.
Another great thing you misinterpreted was when I said they were tired of being called racist/sexist bigots. I didn’t mean they were pissed for being called out, even if they should have been pissed for being lumped in with shitty people, I meant that it was constant “white people suck” “kill all white men” “you can’t be racist to whites people” talk. How did you expect a positive response to this type of persuasion.
Also telling me I’m racist if I don’t vote for Hillary, news flash, I’m a rebel so I’m more likely to vote for the person you hate just because of that.
You mean as opposed to poc who of course were never threatened because of their race? I will admit that sometimes ppl go overboard (though I will never say that ppl who have struggled all of their lives because of white people not liking their race don’t have the right to be angry). However, you pick out the extremes and apply them to everyone (huh, what was it we were supposedly doing again?). You cannot be racist to white ppl - prejudiced maybe, but esp in America no white person will suffer bc of their skin colour. If a poc says ‘white people suck’, they know that not every single white person on the planet is racist, but that as a group we enjoy certain privileges that will benefit us in comparison to a poc and that often we are not even aware of that, because that’s just how it was all our lives and we aren’t like those evil racists on tv/in the past, so everything’s fine, right? And due to this often wilfull blindness, we will rush to defend a white person over a poc when accused of being favoured by the system. If you actually looked at the arguments for longer than a minute and didn’t immediately see it as an attack on all white ppl, you would know that. And you would know that since we live in a biased world, everyone is biased - but as white people, we can get away with ignoring that, because it doesn’t really affect us. Poc however cannot, and when they see (most of) us ignoring that stuff for years, then yeah, they will start to dislike all* white ppl (like you dislike all of us Leftist bigots).
Also, if I implied that you are racist if you don’t vote for Hillary, then I am sorry and will take it back. What I meant was that you are racist if you vote for Drumpf. Hillary isn’t perfect either (though at least she didn’t announce she wanted to ban all Muslims, reinstate Stop & Frisk and build a wall on the border to Mexico). (You still have a lot of privilege when you know that by voting for a third party/not at all you won’t risk anything, but that’s another point.)
You spend the majority of your time telling white people they’re evil and then expect them to come flocking to your side, yet you don’t see how you were making Trump’s victory more and more achievable
Again, if you looked into the topic for more than a few minutes, you’d know that it’s not about calling white people evil. But, also again, when being called evil is worse to you than other people being actuall disadvantaged and mistreated, maybe you should take a good, long look at yourself.
But, to get to my original question - how do you justify voting for the person that is endorsed and celebrated by the KKK? Why don’t you mind that your post was liked by someone with kkk in their url? If you are not racist, as you say, shouldn’t you not want to be on the same side as they are? Or am I still missing like a very important puzzle piece here?
And you did it again
"Take a good long look at yourself"
This arrogance of "I believe this so I'm better than you" is why our generation is the worst hands down.
Listen, no one here is arguing gays or blacks or Mexicans should be killed or taken from their families. You should be familiar with the concept of extremists because you yourself admitted that some people take it too far. That shit happens on both sides
“Not all white people are racist.” “Not all men are sexist.”

You spend the majority of your time telling white people they're evil and then expect them to come flocking to your side, yet you don't see how you were making Trump's victory more and more achievable
Really?

Alright, those maps show the results by the electoral votes based on being white or a man. (Though you should be able to determine that if the majority of white ppl/men had voted blue, those maps would not look like that, right?) Let’s go by the popular vote then. According to this, Drumpf was elected by 53% of men, 58% of white ppl. Every other racial group voted for Hillary. So yes, of course white ppl and men voted for her. Maybe overwhelmingly so in some places. But overall, he won because of white ppl/men. If we only look at them, he would have won the popular vote as well.

Another great thing you misinterpreted was when I said they were tired of being called racist/sexist bigots. I didn't mean they were pissed for being called out, even if they should have been pissed for being lumped in with shitty people, I meant that it was constant "white people suck" "kill all white men" "you can't be racist to whites people" talk. How did you expect a positive response to this type of persuasion.
Also telling me I'm racist if I don't vote for Hillary, news flash, I'm a rebel so I'm more likely to vote for the person you hate just because of that.
Shooting yourself in the chest now

You're shooting yourself in the foot because all Tumblr has been doing since it became the haven for Leftist bigots is calling people who make jokes about rape/race/sex the worst human beings in the world, so when an actual rapist/racist/sexist comes along, you call him the same thing
